Love Is In The Air

"Love Is In The Air" at A Vintage Journey and the theme has been chosen by that artfully talented, Astrid! Oh but the talent and great art does not stop there, so please stop by and see what the rest of the team has for you. Don't forget to join in the challenge with your Tim inspired projects for a change to win a store voucher from our sponsors at Country View Crafts.
This tags background was a labor of love and took a lot of patience waiting for gesso, paints and crackle to dry! First I cut my corrugated cardboard tag and torn away some of the areas. This is such fun, but a little hard on the hands! Next I applied white gesso and let dry.
Paints were applied as follows, first I brushed on DecoArt Desert Turquoise and then with a dirty brush (lightly wiped off), applied some Peeled Paint, Fresco Finish Haystack and around the edged Vintage Photo. Again we wait for the drying.
I applied two varieties of DecoArt crackle, One Step and Weathered Wood in the center. This took a good two hours to dry and cure, before I applied thinned stains of Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo using a paint brush. Once I liked this, I gave a little splatter of Fired Red paint and also applied this on the edges. After this again dried, I have it a spray with matte sealer.
The hearts and cupid were die cut, covered in gesso and then white paint. Inked over in Brushed Corduroy, shaded with Walnut Stain and a little Black Soot here and there. The "Love" sentiment is an older text stamp of Tim's and this was inked up with Coffee Archival. Had to give cupid a little stenciled heart!
Well there you have it and I hope you have enjoyed your visit which I am very thankful for!

Tim's February 2014 Tag!

Happy Monday and I hope your week is starting out wonderfully! I was actually supposed to be in Portland OR, but due to very extreme weather conditions, I had to cancel my flight to visit my DD! With a forced change of plans, what else could a girl do, but get inky with Tim's February 2014 Tag?
I will not at all bore you with the details as Tim more than covers that quite well, so pop on over there. Thus far, I do not have the newer products and used what I had on hand. I chose Tarnished Brass, Vintage Photo and Weathered Wood for stains and Festive Berry, Barn Door and Aged Mahogany were my Distress stencil colors.
This chalky technique is one that beats me up pretty good and as luck would have it, I cut an extra heart from one of the failures and covered it with Tim's glitter as directed. BTW, I totally do not care for glitter due to the flying characteristics, but Tim's is just awesome! Really!!!
Since I did not have the little stickers, I cut my arrow and trim from Tim's dies, using grunge/card stock and foil only!
This tag will go to my hubby for Valentine's Day and will also be visiting the following challenge blogs.

Love

Sneaked in some time yesterday to play along with Tim's "12 Tags of 2013 - February," which fits so nicely for "Spread Some Love" at Inspiration Journal.  Obviously, I had a bit of a struggle with not having that blueprint stamp or the seasonal impressions paper, but I do love a challenge!
My Queen of Hearts is a Texture Trade, that I inked the flay side with black Archival and embossed into the rose color paper, heat seat and used my Fire Brick marker to add a little extra color to the raised areas.  For the panel behind the queen, I used my new "BLUE PRINT" embossing folder and also on the tag background, which was highlighted with Black Soot.  In place of the impressions paper, I used Tim's stamp and clear embossed and then inked over that with Black Soot.

Again I thank you for stopping by and I am working on those blog visits.  For those who have asked, Fred my bird, is still not well and he won't recover from this. Sadly, there is not anything to do other than keeping him company day and night.  I will tell you something sadly funny, but I was sitting near his cage yesterday and started crying and that silly guy chuckled!  He still will make an attempt to flip and flop over to tear up the cage papers, which is one of those things he would do purposely to annoy me.  Pet birds develop quite the personality and the longer you have one, the more it is noticeable.  Anyway, I hope your week is going well and you are doing whatever it is that makes you happy!

Cupid at Work!

Happy Friday to all or whatever day of the week it may be when you read this!  I just love Friday's, because it means my hubby will be off for the weekend and no getting up at 4:30 AM!  Although, our Molly Dalmatian makes sure we are up before 6:00 AM, but that is OK!  With less than a month before Valentine's Day, I still need to work on a few "Sweet" things and here is the one I will give to the "love of my life."  Being this is for a man, I felt the need to take this to a more masculine state!
So where to begin!!  First I cut some arrows using a masking sheet from Tim's Love Struck die, placed them on the edges and inked with Distress and then did the Spritz and Flick technique.  Pulled off arrows and then stamped the "L" word all around the tag, after masking off the "Potion #9.  All stamps in this tag are from Artistic Outpost the "Apothecary" collection.  I love this set for Valentine's Day and have used in the past!  I crunched up some newsprint paper, highlighted the creases, flattened it, stamped the "Prescription" using Black Archival.  The bottle was stamped using Stazon Black on Shrink Plastic and the Love with Stazon Red, cut and baked.  After this was done, I used a silver Sharpie Pen on the backside and color where the liquid "Love" would be.  The cork was also inked on the reverse side using a tan marker.  Tim's wings were inked with Black Alcohol Ink as was the heart charms.  I placed the heart charms on double sided tape and filled the inside with Stickles.  After it dried, I place removed the tape backing and place it on my wings.  The labels were stamped and I used Chit Chat words.
I die cut a couple of hearts and clear embossed the smaller, heat set and then inked in red.  The next thing I did was to run a bead of Glossy Accents around the edge and sprinkled Black/Glass glitter, let it dry and then over the top, another layer of Glossy Accents.  I do this to keep the glitter in place and not all over.  Speaking of all over!!!!  When attempting to re-jar the glitter, Miss Klutzy over here, not only knocked the funnel over, but most of the container and right onto the carpeting!  I now need more Black/Glass Glitter!  Darn!  The movers and shapers Cupid is Tim's and he was inked with black soot and then embossed with Distress Black Soot Powder.   I was looking for a more rustic kind of cupid!
Did you have a look at the Artistic Outpost's Blog Hop for "Spreading a Little the Love," if not, just click the link and you can check out what the entire DT created.  It was such great fun and I was thrilled to be a part!
Don't forget to pull out those AO stamps and play along in the January Referral Program for a chance at a prize.  This is my tag from last year using the Apothecary stamps!

Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
