Back to School Campaign ‘Cerahi Kehidupan Bersama TOP’ Returns Bigger and Better to Support 333 Children from Single Mother-Led Familie

The daily struggle of single mother-led families in Malaysia has worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 150,000 single mothers have registered for aid with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development1. 



A Brighter Future with TOP back-to-school campaign is back supporting 333 primary school children from single mother-led families. This year TOP collaborates with  Jabatan Kebajikan Malaysian (JKM), AEON and Shopee.



 

A survey2 found that single mothers are the hardest hit group during the pandemic as they are the main breadwinner and the sole caregiver for their families. For financially stretched single mothers, the back-to-school season can be highly stressful as they need to provide for their children’s future on a tight budget. 


Understanding the need of single mothers, the Cerahi Kehidupan Bersama TOP (Brighter Future with TOP) charity fund-raising campaign returns bigger and better in collaboration with Jabatan Kebajikan Malaysian (JKM), AEON and Shopee, with the goal of equipping students from single-mother led families with back-to-school essentials for the 2022 school year.

JKM shortlisted current aid recipients including single mother-led families as well as those who are care-givers for bed-ridden or differently-abled family members. Priority was given to families with children starting Primary One in 2022. Meanwhile, TOP identified families who had experienced reduced or lost income during the pandemic through media reports. Priority is given to families with children who will start Year One in 2022. TOP has contacted these single mothers to obtain details on the sizing and other requirement for the 333 children involved. TOP reached out to these mothers individually for sizing details and to personalise the back-to-school essentials for 333 children.

A portion of sales from selected TOP detergent products across AEON stores and Shopee platform (via the official Southern Lion store) from November 25 to December 26, 2021 will be channelled to equipping these 333 primary school students. 


The back-to-school essentials include brand new school uniform, school shoes, socks, stationery set, pencil case, and colour pencils for each child. Each family will receive a 2.3kg pack of TOP powder detergent, while the children will receive a soft toy, and an exclusive illustrated book by multi-award winning children’s picture book author and illustrator Emila Yusof, who has created more than 40 books for children such as the Dina series that includes My Mother's Garden, My Mother's Kitchen, My Father's Farm and the latest, Dina's Art Class.

TOP will deliver the personalised back-to-school packs to JKM offices in 12 states for distribution to the single mother-led families in 2022, ahead of the new school term.

Since its inception in 2015, the Cerahi Kehidupan Bersama TOP campaign has benefited 2,880 children from 85 communities nationwide with back-to-school essentials, while contributing TOP detergent products to their families and caregivers.

SDEC AND SHOPEE ANNOUNCE COLLABORATION ON SARAWAK DIGITAL MALL CAMPAIGN

Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC), together with the Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU) will collaborate with e-commerce platform Shopee to kickstart ‘Sarawak Digital Mall’ campaign, with the objective to provide a sales boost to Sarawakian sellers on the platform. This partnership will benefit tens of thousands of new and existing merchants on the platform by offering incentives such as discount and free shipping vouchers worth RM1mil to the participating merchants.

SDEC is a government-owned agency mandated to implement the Sarawak Digital Economy initiatives. Among its stakeholder segments is Digital Business, where digitalisation of Sarawakian entrepreneurs is the key focus. 



 

“It is important for entrepreneurs to start taking their businesses online. In this age of technology, everyone prefers to do things through mobile phones or computers. By embracing digitalisation, it opens up bigger opportunities to these sellers,” said SDEC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sudarnoto Osman.

He also highlighted that this collaboration would encourage digital adoption among Sarawakian SMEs which is a significant move especially in a time where the rising COVID-19 cases in the region has rendered almost every industry to a physical halt.

Sudarnoto added that while Sarawak is a state with rich culture and heritage, many of the state’s local products are not yet widely known due to its lack of exposure and accessibility.

“With the discount vouchers provided in this campaign, Sarawakian merchants will be able to sell their local products at a more competitive value within the wider Malaysian and regional market, without the significant shipping fee as a barrier,” he said.

On the same note, Shopee will also be helping to onboard many more local sellers as well as providing entrepreneurial courses through Shopee University, a free online training workshop available in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Chinese. The courses are tailored to assist participating local merchants on their digitalisation journey with the Sarawak Digital Mall campaign.

Unilever and Shopee join hands to foster cleaner communities in Southeast Asia

Global consumer goods company, Unilever, and Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in the region, today announced new efforts to increase sustainability awareness and expand access to greener home care products for consumers in six markets across Southeast Asia.  

As part of Unilever’s Clean Future strategy, both parties will build on their long-standing partnership, to implement consumer-focused sustainability initiatives, with the launch of the ‘Clean Home. Clean Nation.’ programmeon Shopee. This will start off with a regional Super Brand Day campaign on 21 May showcasing Unilever’s Home Care portfolio, encouraging shoppers to make a positive impact towards a cleaner environment. There will also be an always-on shop page on Unilever’s Shopee store, dedicated to encouraging awareness and the use of more environmentally friendly products.

 A portion of Unilever’s Home Care orders on Super Brand Day will go towards community cleaning activities in partnership with local NGOs and charities. These activities will range from the cleaning of more than 4,000 mosques in Indonesia, to donating Unilever’s Home Care products such as Breeze, Sunlight, Comfort and Cif to underprivileged families in Malaysia. East Coast Retail Powerhouse TMG Mart is now on Shopee

Shopee users can revel in the choice and variety increase of essentials and household products as TMG Mart is now exclusively on Shopee. The Malaysian-owned hypermarket aims to reach the growing proportion of online-first customers in the country after having successfully built a strong offline presence in the East Coast region.

Olay teams up with Shopee to empower digital-savvy millennials in Southeast Asia to #AdultFearlessly

P&G-owned skincare brand Olay partners with Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, to reach and engage with digital-savvy millennials in Southeast Asia with the launch of Adult Fearlessly campaign. The refreshed brand campaign will be held exclusively on Shopee, in line with Olay’s Super Brand Day across six markets, starting right now in Malaysia.

The campaign seeks to empower millennial women in their transition to adulthood by helping them overcome the perceived challenges of 'adulting' and invest in making good choices about their skincare needs.

A survey of more than 1,000 consumers in Southeast Asia revealed that 34% digital-savvy millennial consumers across the region are now more likely to shop online every week, as e-commerce becomes a key channel for consumers to meet their daily and lifestyle needs. 9.9 Super Shopping Day; over 12 million items sold in the first hour on 9 September

Powered by Shopee’s robust ecosystem, 9.9 Super Shopping Day delivered super entertainment and shopping deals for users and supercharged economic recovery for sellers and brand partners, with over 12 million items sold in the first hour on 9 September.
