Anthropologie Inspired Knot Duvet Bedding

I LOVE the look of this duvet bedding! You've got to go see how A Mommy's Life with a Touch of Yellow created this Anthropologie knock-off. I just bought new bedding to go with our new apartment and now I kind of wish I'd seen this first. I'm definitely keeping this one tucked away for the next time I need new bedding.

Guest Blogger - Henry Happened - Anthropologie Knock-off Necklace

Hi! I'm Stephanie, a mother of two with a DIY addiction! I blog about stylish and crafty adventures at Henry Happened. I love to create fun accessories and I'm especially fond of making bracelets (like this one and this one).

When I saw
this necklace on Anthropologie, my first question was, are those paperclips? Then I thought how fun and easy it would be to make a similar necklace for WAY less than $198!

For the basic necklace - a fun project with kids - you will need:

  • Round wood shapes (found at Hobby Lobby for $2.99)

  • Piece of foam paper (found at Hobby Lobby for $0.80) Lots of great colors - I went with orange to match the inspiration necklace.

  • Thumb tacks

  • Paper clips

  • Glue

To take it a step further and get closer to the inspiration product, you will also need:

  • Gold spray paint

  • Wire cutters

Step 1: Glue 4 of the largest size circles together. Make 4 of these stacks.

Step 2: Trace 4 circles on the foam paper. Cut out and glue these on top of the 4 wooden circles. Cutting the circles was, for me, the hardest part. I'm sure there's a cutting tool that would make this way easier. My circles are not perfect, but I rather liked them a bit irregular.

Step 3: For two of the stacks, insert a thumb tack between the 2nd and 3rd wooden circles.

Step 4: Arrange the 4 stacks - two side by side with the other two on the outside at 11 o'clock position - and glue between them. Put some tape on the back to keep everything together while the glue dries.

Step 5: You can stop here and make a really cute statement necklace by lacing the paper clips together.

Step 6: Or you can keep going and cut off the inside loop of the paper clip with wire cutters.

Step 7: Spray paint both sides of the paper clips and thumb tacks with gold spray paint. (Yes, I used gold though my picture looks like it's silver!)

Two notes: I would recommend not linking the paper clips when spray painting as it makes it harder for the paint to reach all of the surfaces. Also, I was able to easily remove my thumbtacks, paint, and then stick them back in.

The final product!

Thank you for letting me visit here today!! I hope you will stop by Henry Happened and say hi!

Ruffles and Buttons Anthro knock-off Shirts

I've seen this beautiful ruffle and button Anthro knock-off shirt going around blogland. EVERYONE is loving it and making it for themselves. I thought I should show it off one more time so if you can make it too (if you haven't already)! Busily Spinning Momma has a very detailed tutorial for this long sleeve shirt turned Anthro short sleeve and ruffly!

This cute shirt is a knock-off of the former Anthro knock-off. It is adorable. You should see the dress that it is a part of at Mommy By Day, Crafter At Night. No tutorial, but it shouldn't be to hard to figure out using the first tutorial!

3 Great Knock-offs!

Don't bother paying the $46 for a darling J. Crew knock-off dress for your little one. Make it yourself with a shirt from your closet with the help from Naptime Crafters.

The Ivy Cottage knocked-off a Z Gallerie display. What a statement it makes on wall! See the Z Gallerie mirror artwork.

This anthro tank knock-off is super cute! Love the bow and the cascading front. Learn how to make it at Southern Fairy Design.

Antiquing A Trunk and Anthro Bag

I wish I had a trunk so I could make it beautiful like Made It Monday, my CWTS partner, did with a trunk she had. I love the way she antiqued it and added a world map to it for the decopauge theme of Crafting With The Stars last week. See how created this World Traveler Trunk (Inside and Out!)

Made It On Monday has also posted the tutorial on this Anthro knock-off bag. You can see the tutorial HERE or you can enter a giveaway to win it HERE (You need to enter tonight because she is announcing the winner tomorrow.)

Guest Blogger - Shannon Makes Stuff - Anthropology Inspired T-Shirt Makeover

Hey y'all, it's Shannon over at Shannon Makes Stuff.

I am honored and giddy to be over here visiting Michelle at Someday Crafts. Isn't she just simply amazing? I think so. I am a mother of three boys and my husband is in his residency of Nurse Anesthesia school, and it can't get over soon enough!

I LOVE to create. Everything I see inspires me. I can't ever buy anything, because I can just create it. Sometimes I think being creative is a curse. But I will gladly claim it any day!

You can follow my crazy journey of being the graduate student's widow. Over there you will find all the daily musings of raising three boys all on your own. I swear, I am a target in public for outlandish situations and comments.

You can purchase my one of a kind vinyl designs over at my etsy shop. Or check out my design gallery for inspiration at my Vinyl Blog. StakerSensations, it's the best vinyl around!

Or you can come visit me at Shannon Makes Stuff and see all of my latest creations. Which vary from felt playhouses, to anthropology clothing inspirations, to wipe boards, to pillow covers, to mod podge toe nails! You won't regret coming over!!! Here's a sneak peak of what I am talking about!

Foam Swords made from pool noodles and pvc pipe.

Snowman Ornaments out of bottle caps.

And last but not least my Flip-Flop Stay On Straps!

So come on Over and Say Hello, oh ,and if you have the desire to purchase my creations you can at my other Etsy shop.

Now that you know more than you wanted to know about me, let's get on with the show...

An ANTHROPOLOGY INSPIRED T-Shirt Makeover.

It's beautiful isn't it? Well, let's create one of our own! Get a t-shirt that is your size. Turn it inside out. I got this one from the craft isle at Wal-mart for $3.00.

Cut around the neckline and make it a v in the front.

Then cut off the sleeves following the seam.

From the bottom of the shirt make a straight pin line to 3 inches above where you cut off the sleeves. This will make the arm hole smaller and will make the sides of your shirt straight to allow for bunching of your shirt when it's on.

Sew down the pin lines and cut of the excess fabric.

Take the neckline that you cut off and cut straight across the v-shape part.

Set this piece aside to use in just a moment. Take one of the sleeves and lay it with the seam in the center.

Fold it in half at the seam.

Cut around it, in the shape of a bow.

Then cut the folds. This will give you 4 pieces.

Take two of them, and with wrong sides together, sew around them.

Trim off the excess shirt as close to you can as the stitch line without cutting the stitching.

Take the v-shape piece that you cut off from the neckline. Fold it into a rectangle shape. Then take the bow pieces and pleat them in the middle and then pin them to the rectangle.

Take the other sleeve and cut it open at the seam.

Cut off the hem line.

Cut a piece about 2 inches wide.

Set this piece aside for later use. Put on the shirt and pin the bow in place. (See that awesome necklace? I just got it from my sponsor! I love it. Check it out here.)

Take the piece from above and cut it into three strips.

Tuck the ends of these strips under the rectangle part of the bow and pin in place.

Drape two of them to one side and the other one to the other side. Pin them in place. It's important to do while this is on so you can see where they will drape.

Head over to your sewing machine and sew around the bow completely and then sew the ends of the draped pieces onto the side of the shirt. Sew them right at the side seam. Only sew through one layer of the shirt. And then cut of the extra fabric.

At the shoulders, make a pleat in the center and sew across it. Do this to both sides.

And as I always say, "There you have it!"

Layer it with a different colored shirt to add that little extra flair.

You'll feel like an Anthropology rock star in no time at all with this shirt on!

Don't forget to bunch up that bottom of the shirt when you put it on.

Thanks Michelle for letting me take over the post for the day! I've had a blast letting your followers get to know me! Don't forget to come stop by Shannon Makes Stuff and become a follower so you can catch all my other great tutorials and exciting upcoming projects!
