Rustic Rope Shelves

Looking for something rustic to go in your house? How about making some fabulous rope shelves. These ones made by Imperfectly Polished (guest posting at CSI Project) would look amazing with cabin, country or rustic decor. I've seen some rustic pieces with pristine, sleek settings and it looks amazing. (See this post at Centsational Girl).

Sisal Ball Hanging Light and Yarn Balls

Too Much Time On My Hands created this sisal ball hanging lamp with materials she had on hand. Need an inexpensive light fixture? This may be it!

Or perhaps you like the look, but don't want it for a light. You can make some yarn balls to put in a basket, place on a shelf or hang smaller balls from the ceiling for decor. See how these were made at Key To Flow.

You gotta love paper mache!!!!

Guest Blogger - The Hand Me Down House - Rope and Pumpkins

Hi everyone! I'm Amanda from The Hand Me Down House. :)

If you're curious about the name, it's all because my hubby and I bought a handed-down house from my parents ..... my childhood home. That's what my blog is ALLLL about -- making the Hand Me Down House our home.

.The Hand Me Down House

I'm SO excited to be guest posting on one of my absolute FAVORITE blogs today! Thank you, Michelle, for allowing me the honor! :)

I'm SUCH a sucker for fall decor -- I absolutely love it! So today, I want to show you two variations of pumpkins I created for our entry table.

PUMPKIN ONE: WIRE PUMPKIN

Materials: Brown floral wire (yup! that's it!)

I first took each strand and wrapped them around the top of a glass to get a perfect circle. Then I twisted the ends together (like you would a grocery store twist-tie)

I went through and did this to every strand (around 35 - 40 wires).

Next I stacked them together and took a piece of wire to bind them all together. It should look like this:

Finally, fan out the circle wires and add a stem to the top. It should look like this in the end:

PUMPKIN TWO: ROPE PUMPKIN

Materials: 3" - 4" diameter poster tube (or any other kind of cardboard tube)
3/4" Boat Rope (or twisted multipurpose rope)

First, I cut my cardboard tube to be about 4" tall.

Next, I took my rope and started wrapping it vertically around and through the tube.

I continued doing this until the inside of the tube was completely filled with the rope.

Finally, I added a stem to the top by using the end of the rope.

What do you think??? Quick and Easy -- but still so cute! :)

If you haven't been over to The Hand Me Down House -- I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE for you to stop in! You can find so many fun projects and home improvements, like

making some built in shelves,

or even some Snapple bottle vases. :)

Thanks again for letting me be your guest! This is SUCH a fantastic blog -- so I'm absolutely flattered to be here!

My favorite projects are ones that are cute, quick, easy and inexpensive and both of these pumpkins definitely fit that criteria! Thank you, AMANDA. I've never seen rope pumpkins and I absolutely adore them. The Hand Me Down House is one of those up-and-coming blogs! I was smitten with her blog the first time I read the name of it! Great inspiration! Unique ideas! Nice pictures. Awesome tutorials.
