Laundry Room and Teacher Appreciation Sunburst Mirrors

There are so many different, cool sunburst mirrors out there. The creativity is never-ending. Here are two I've seen recently!

This sunburst mirror is perfect for a laundry room. Hill Country Homebody made it out of clothes pin (the kind that don't squeeze open.) The clothes pins would look fun painted too!

And just today, I saw this teacher appreciation sunburst mirror made out of pencils by Just Sew Sassy (guest posting at Tatertots and Jello.) How cute would that be for a classroom? Very cute. I would have loved one when I was teaching!

There are a few other fun sunburst mirror ideas at Tatertots and Jello along with this guest post.

Pencil Treats!

I recently got a job as a co-teacher at a Montessori!!! I am loving it so far. The best part about it is that my 2 kids can come with me!!!! What a dream! They are starting next week. I know school has probably started for most of your kids, but this is one of the cutest school ideas I have seen and I need to save it! There's still time for my kids to do it, but probably too late for most of you. Keep this one in mind for next year!Make a back to school pencil treat with rolos and a kiss.

Back 2 School Gift For Student (with a Poem)

This fun idea is brought to you by Amazing Grace!

This is perfect for a teacher (or a parent) to give to a student.

*************************************************************************************

It's that time! My new students returned to school today! For 5th graders, the first day of school is still fun and exciting. They absolutely love seeing their name on different things in the classroom and organizing their school supplies. I gave my students a special treat for "Meet Your Teacher" night. Each student got one of these with the poem below:

Back To School Magic Snack Mix
The night before school is exciting and fun,
there are always so many things to be done.
Your clothes are ready, your backpack is too.
Your classroom is full of fun things you will do.
There are so many questions that go through your mind,
all types of thoughts of every kind.
But sometimes we all get the jitters down deep
and that makes it hard to fall fast asleep.
So I've made you a magic snack mix, it really is cool.
It will help you be rested and ready for school.
Just eat the snack right before bed
On the night before school starts when you lay down your head.
The snack will help you sleep through the night
And you will wake up in the morning fresh and bright.
I’ll be sure to have this magic snack, too.
And remember, I just can't wait for school so I can see YOU!!!

This was a HIT!!! The students were excited and the parents just ooooh'd and ahhhh'd over them and all my teacher friends asked for the poem so they could do it next

Back 2 School Apple Candy Cupcakes

This awesome idea is brought to you from

**************************************************************************************

The inspiration for this project came from OohlalaCandy.com, they make cute candy cupcakes, including an Apple for back to school. I saw it, loved it, and knew I could make it!

Here is what we are making:

Here is what you need:

  • Red Jelly beans or red candy. I paid way too much for Jelly Belly's at the mall. Joanns has solid packs of M&Ms for 5.99 then you could use a coupon. However, the Jelly Belly's are apple flavored so that is a plus
  • Cupcake liners or I used some ramekins from Dollar Tree. Three for $1.
  • Plastic wrap or shrink wrap
  • Skewers or toothpicks

  • Ribbon for a leaf (or a silk flower leaf)

  • Candy straws - also from Dollar Tree
Step 1. Layout some plastic wrap on something with sides. This will catch any candies that try to escape.

Step 2: Pour your candy in the center of the plastic wrap. 3/4 of a pound of jellybeans got me 2 apples worth.

Step 3. Bring all four corners of the plastic wrap up and twist. It will form a ball.

Step 4. Form your ball how you want it and get the plastic pulled pretty tight. You want it to look shrink wrapped or as close to it as you can.

Step 5. Secure the ball with tape and snip off any extra plastic wrap.

Step 6: Put your jelly beans into your cupcake liner or ramekin.

Step 7. Cut a piece of ribbon 3-4" long and singe or fray check both ends.

Step 8: Bring the "right" side of one end of the ribbon around and stack it on the right side of the other end to form a leaf shape.
Step 9: Cut a small slit in the end of your ribbon and put it on the skewer.

Step 10: Insert the skewer into your jellybeans and slide all the way down to the bottom of the cup.

Step 11: Trim your skewer and work the candy straw onto the skewer. It is easier if the skewer has a point to it, so cutting at an angle may be helpful.

You are done! I can't wait for my 4 year old's preschool teachers to get them on the first day of school!

Variation: I put a package of sour straws at the bottom of one of the apples. That helped it look a little fuller because I hadn't split the jelly beans exactly even.

Other fun variations:

  • Use a pretzel stick for the stem instead of a candy straw.
  • Color the end of a lollipop brown and use the end of the stick as the straw. You would just put the lollipop upside down and insert the stick through the jellybeans.
If you decide to create some, I'd love to see them. Please send me an email to mailto:%22cuteasafoxcreations@gmail.com%22 or upload them straight to my Facebook wall.

Teacher Appreciation Round-ups

Because I have been a full-time Special Education Teacher in the past, I had a friend ask me today what I should give/make for her daughter's teacher. Her daughter came home with a note from the PTA stating that it was Teacher Appreciation Week and that it would be kind to thank the teacher.

I have to say as I teacher, I loved everything my students (and their parents) gave to me. Just a "thank you" is much appreciated to hear sometimes - even when it is your job. Let's face it, there are some people who say really mean things out there. I loved treats, hand written notes and all little trinkets.

I do have to say that one of the gifts I liked the most was gifts/supplies for the classroom. I know they are boring, but they are very useful and it cut down on what I had to buy for the classroom out of my pocket. Things like tissues, santizers, and other useful supplies were loved by me. My other favorite gift was a book to the classroom library. I would let the student write their name next to me writing "This book was donated to this classroom library by: ___________." The kids loved seeing the book they contributed to the classroom and always felt proud when other kids or teachers read it. The students also liked finding other books that had been donated. TEACHER LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!
Instead of doing a round-up of ideas, I am doing a round-up of Teacher Appreciation Round-ups. I'm sending you to some pretty amazing blogs. I hope you come back to visit mine:)
