Monday Mural

An oldie from the archives of 2015 at a visit to Copenhagen in Danmark. This was in the hippy free state "Christiania" where lots of buildings were decorated with paintings.

Reflection

That's me as a fat lady in a church in Copenhagen, reflecting in a well polished  copper offertory box.

Making a photo.

I am a bit scrolling through my old photos of our visit to Copenhagen last year,  and found this Chinese man trying to make a photo of his group of fellow travelers.

He was a bit angry when our group passed by in the background when we leaved the Townhall and spoiled his composition.

I watched him very busy running back and forwards to arrange the group into the right position. It was not a very spontanious photo, probably they were on a business trip but for me it was funny to watch. Linking to "Our World Tuesday"

Votes

When I was in Copenhagen last June the Parlement elections would take place in a few days. So the whole town was decorated with billboards of the candidats to vote for.

It was remarkable to see so many female candidats.

At last one man.

And a collection together on one pole.

Reflection

Modern buildings have mostly a lot of glass on the outside as this one in Copenhagen.  Good for reflections so I am linking to "Weekend Reflections"

Skywatch

We didn't see much blue skies in Copenhagen and here the next downpour was getting closer.

Design Museum

Scandinavia is well known for its designs and it was a joy to visit the "Designmuseum Danmark" in Copenhagen.

Some old children's beds from 1836 with a painting of Carl Larsson in the background.

The Nilfisk vacuum cleaners, I had once the little one on the right.

Recycled newspapers.

A nice way to keep your clothes from the floor.

There was also  a very nice fashion section.

And ladies, what to think about this, a maternity corset from 1957!  Glad I was pregnant in the seventies and those items had disappeared.

And the orange period of the seventies.

Rainy Monday

The beautiful weather we had for quite some time here has changed into  heavy downpours. I don't feel to go out but express my feelings by these pictures from Copenhagen. The weather was not so pretty when we were there and the Danish people are rather simular as the Dutch, always take an umbrella with you for "you never know what the weather will be".

And rain is also no reason to leave your bike home.

Sculptures

In Copenhagen I saw these strange men in a park.

And these two in a street.

And again two on a square.

It happened to be an exhibition by female sculptor "Steinum Thorarinsdottir" from Iceland (1955) who's work is recognized by her use of androgynous human figures.
I haven't seen them all only the one's I saw accidental.

Bagsvaerd Church

A white fence in the complete white Bagsvaerd Church in Copenhagen designed in 1968 by Danish architect "Jorn Utzon" ( 1918-2008) most notable for designing the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

It is considered to be a masterpiece of contemporary church architecture, thanks to its naturaly illuminated interior and its ceiling straddled with softly-rounded vaulting.

Even the ship was white.

From the outside it didn't quite looked like a traditional church.

Monday Mural

I hesitated to show you these murals as the quality is rather poor, but sitting in a bus in Copenhagen, driving slowly through the rush hour traffic, I saw these paintings passing by like a comic book story

I can't tell you anything about it, don't even know which building it was, but I see people embarking and waving.

There are many boats.

And finaly in the last painting they reach land where they are met by enthousiastic people.
I am sorry I can't tell you anything about the story but such a decorated facade is very pretty I think.

National Museum

When visiting the "The National Museum of Denmark" in Copenhagen, there was a lot going on inside. We didn't quite understand but there was a celebration of something with music and the entrance was free for everyone!

A girl was singing a Danish song and it was funny to see all the people around leaning over the balustrades. We watched a very interesting exhibition about very old excavations of people living before the Vikings but it was to dark inside to make photo's. By the way the exhibition about the Vikings that toured around  the world in 2013 and we saw in Assen, came from this museum.

In front of the museum an old horse-drawn beer cart was standing for the occasion.

Sightseeing

I am still surprised to see tourists passing by this way. Without making any noise they rolled on like zombies through Copenhagen. I have seen these Segways in Amsterdam too, it is a popular way of sightseeing without getting tired.

Modern Architecture in Copenhagen

The area in Copenhagen where our fancy hotel was situated is very new with all kind of different modern buildings as this apartments building

With roofs covered with sedum.

Green balconies, they call it the Mountain Dwellings designed by "Bjarke Ingels Group" (BIG)

The courtyard of a mansions building.

The Tietgenkollegiet, (Student Hall)  a student residence, designed by "Lundgaard & Tranberg".

Who wouldn't live here as a student with this park in your courtyard?
