Memories

A photo of the bridesmaids at the wedding of my daughter last May. The groom with his bestman and his hopping nieces on their way to the townhall. I often think back at that wonderful day.

Wedding clothes

I am still a bit in the wedding mood of last Saturday. When my daughter had  the wedding announced, the question arose "What to wear?" A whole new world was opened for me, it is quite a business the bridal thing. Normally I am not used to wear formal clothes but in this case I had to. I searched the internet and found a formal dress designed by couturier "Mart Visser"which happened to have a rather deep neckline in the back  when it arrived. So I ordered a fitting jacket to it to cover the chilly neck. I thought I was ready now but but my daughter mentioned that the groom's mother was wearing a headpiece!

After another search I found this one in a headshop in Amsterdam. We both had discovered the fascinator and wore it well the whole day. A moment after this photo before we had dinner, we both had enough of it, got the giggles and put it off with a sigh...

But is was all worth it to see them so happy together!

A look at the back of the dress with many buttons!

45 Years

45 years ago in 1970, we stepped out of the door of the house I showed you last saturday here to get married.

How young we were 22 and 24.

Here with the parents, at the townhall in Amsterdam.

A dream dress

Last Saturday the heir of Luxembourg Prince Guillaume married Belgium countess Stephanie. There is nothing more magical than a royal wedding and I watched it on tv.

The gown of the bride was designed by Lebanese Elie Saab and was stunning. It took a total of 3,900 hours to make, 700 with the seamstress and an extraordinary 3,200 for embroidery. The design was embellished with 50,000 pearls, threaded with ethereal silver and completed with a 13 feet train.

I was not there, the pictures are from internet, but sometimes it is nice to dream away a little.
