The Gijs+ Emmy Spectacle

Another exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum was about Fashion and Jewelry designs by "Gijs Bakker (1942)" and "Emmy van Leersum (1930-1984)". In the late sixties they, both trained jewelry designers, created a furor with their avant-garde jewelry and clothing that fused fashion, design and art.

The most famous item was this Stovepipe Neclace with matching bracelet, now an icon of Dutch design.

Here a range of their bracelets. I loved those very much at that time and I still do. I wore simular jewelry at that time by another designer.

Here some examples of their legendary fashion show of 1967 in which  they mixed their designs with fashion.

In Cannes this woman sold beautiful fake jewellery at the flea market for a nice price.

I couldn't resist this snake bracelet. I call it my "Wallis Simpson" bracelet.

Although hers was a panther with onyx and diamonds.....
