Strange bird
At the walk last sunday when the weather was great. The dark clouds were no rainclouds, at least we had no rain.

Sunny days
With the pretty warm sunny weather we have now, nature has exploded in green fields and trees.
With buttercups all over the place.
And this one taking a sunbath in the garden.

Spring sign
I couldn't believe my eyes yesterday to see something purple in the grass.
Crocuses! Nature is trying to tell us spring in the air!

Nature
Yesterday was a cold but sunny day, so I did a walk in the surroundings of Almere Haven.
Two bridal veils?
On my way home I saw this, four beautiful plane trees were cut down! It is a disease of the municipality of Almere to cut down so many trees here. They always have an excuse that it is necessary, they are a danger and will plant new ones. I think the only reason is to sell the wood for money.

Sunday bike ride
Cycling path along the Lange Wetering in Almere Haven. At the right you can see some houseboats.
With Pollard Willows a little further on.
And the never finished castle under construction.

A sunday in the parc
Another sunny Sunday last weekend so we cycled to another parc in Almere the Beatrixparc.
It was very quiet not many people here.
An eldery couple paddled their canoe.
There is a real American diner where we had a milkshake.
The trees are slowly colouring into autumn.

Skywatch
Last Sunday with beautiful weather we took a break from cycling in the Kromslootpark in Almere Haven to watch this cloudy sky, reflecting into the pond. The pole at the right is a intended for a stork's nest in spring.

Rapeseed
The blooming rapeseed reflecting into the ditch in Almere. The rapeseed (Brassica napus) is an annual plant with yellow flowers that has returned to the Netherlands halfway through the twentieth century. The reclamation of the Flevopolder where we live made the crop also popular in that region due to the positive impact of the rape on the soil structure.

Swan lake
Must be nice to have some company when sitting on a nest. I had to think of them this morning when hail storms and even wet snow came down.... The coldest end of April since 25 years here, 4.3 degrees C (39.2F) . Linking to Camera critters

Signpost
This is a "Mushroom" you can find in nature here to lead you the way. The signpost with the striking design was created by accident. When tourists during the First World War couldn't cross the border anymore, domestic tourism increased rapidly. The "General Dutch Cycling Federation" placed more signs but by the blockade of the Dutch ports, iron was not available.
So they were looking for other options and decided to place concrete poles in the shape of a mushroom. In the summer of 1919 the first twelve samples were placed in nature at the Gooi in Bussum.

Green oasis
When cycling around Almere we passed this beautiful public garden at the sheepfarm the "Eksternest" (Magpie nest).
It is a very quiet place, nobody was there.
A little pond.
They have a great variety of flowers and plants, but don't ask me for names, I am a city girl.
I spotted two butterflies.
A little arbor to sit and enjoy the nature.
The little porch to the entrance.

Nature
Last Sunday we had sunny weather with a cold bite. The winds come in from the north-east areas which often means no rains, but chilly weather with sunshine. I like this type of weather with the bright lights.
So we took our bikes and cycled us warm in the surroundings of Almere's nature with woods and waters.
The trees are slowly getting some green leaves.
But these still look naked.

Weekend Reflections
This is how our surroundings look like at the moment, no winter but lots of rain. I would prefer some frost or snow but no Polar vortex!
