Monday Mural

An oldie from 2013 when I visited Oslo in Norway. This mural was in a room in the City Hall building.

And this was the ceiling above that door. All handpainted. Linking to "Monday Mural"

In the City Hall of Oslo in Norway I showed you last Monday, were other rooms also with huge murals.

It was impressive to see how colourful they are. Linking to "Monday Mural"

Monday Muaral

I am a bit out of murals but found an oldie from 2013 when I visited Norway. This mural was in the City Hall of Norway, where the Nobel Prizes are awarded once a year. The huge hall was decorated all around and this is just a part of it.

Friday Fences

Looking for a fence I was scrolling through my oldies and found this one appropriate for the theme. It is the Vigeland Park in Oslo, Norway which I visited last summer.

Weekend Reflections

In August we visited the University of Oslo in Norway for a lecture about the painter Munch. The restroom was in the basement and we were stunned by this beautiful room with reflecting mirrors.

Monday Mural

In the City Hall of Oslo in Norway  this huge mural catches your eye when entering the main hall. It is made by "Henrik Sorensen" and claims to be the biggest mural of Europe. The images express Work, Art and Celebration. This hall is each year used to award the Nobel Peace Prize.

I made some details.

The King returning to Norway from his exile after WW II, is the man with the cap at the right shaking hands.

Monday Mural

The walls in the City-Hall in the city Oslo in Norway,  were all painted to the ceiling. They express all kinds of Norwegian life in the fiftees. The paintings were so huge, it was difficult to catch them for a photo.

So I made some details.

Oslo

The first day we flew from Amsterdam to Oslo, the capital of Norway. We visited the "Radhuset", city hall, from the outside a rather dark brown brick building from 1950. For that time it was rather modern, but to me it looked not so inviting.

But the inside was a surprise, so huge and light with a marble floor and colourful decorations. This is the room where each year in December the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded.

We were allowed to walk free around in the city hall without any security. Norway is very laid back and it is
very pleasant not to pass all those guards and checks all the time. It is something you are not used to anymore.

The "Bystyresalen" where the 59 members of the city councel have their meetings.

Everywhere were decorations, even at the ceiling.

And above the entrance.

These  decorations at the outside beside of the entrance were carved in wood.

From the inside you had a great look at the Oslofjord and some sculptures at the square. Norway has a lot of sculptures everwhere, I will show you later on.
