It's a Bird, It's a Pla- No Wait It Is a Bird!

I have made this super bird card before and you can see it here.  This time I changed up the colors and used the "bird-day" sentiment.

Super bird is from "3 Birds on Parade."  It was cut at 3 3/4."  The shadow was cut twice and adhered at just the top.  The beak is covered in glitter and glossy accents.  The eye also has glossy accents on it.  I added a little faux stitching to the patch on the cape, then glued on a button.  The sentiment is a set of three different stamps.  The "bird-day" part of the sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.  "Wishes" is from the Simple Sentiments set and "super" is from Hooray for Birthdays.  Both sets are from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  I stamped the word "super" by doing some careful masking on the word "surprise."

I made this for the following challenges:

BBTB2: shaped card

Scrappy Moms Stamps: bird project

The Friday Mashup: flight theme

Die Cuttin' Divas: odd card (no standard square or rectangle)

Color Throwdown: color combo

Super Bird-day!

Dang it!  I didn't come up with the "bird-day" thing until after I had already stamped my sentiment on the card!  Such a lost opportunity!  Oh well, the sentiment still works and the card is still cute.  Maybe next time.

I used "3 Birds on Parade" (again) to create this fun shaped card, great for a little boy's birthday.  I used the superhero bird image, on page 69 of the handbook.  I cut the shadow image twice from white card stock and adhered them at the top to create my card base.  All the pieces were cut at 3 3/4."  This makes the card 3.944"x8.653" when all assembled.  I used Cricut Craft Room to lay out my design.

Once everything was cut I added glittery orange flocking powder to the wing.  I then covered the beak, eye, and accent on the cape with glossy accents.  I also added a button to the accent on the cape.  The sentiment was created using some stamps from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  The "birthday wishes" part is from the Simple Sentiments set.  "Super" was created, with some careful masking, from the word "Surprise" from the Hooray for Birthdays set.  And this is where I wished I had thought of using "bird-day" instead of birthday.  Ah well, such is life.

I have been wanting to make a card using this cute little superhero bird for a while and the current challenge at My Craft Spot was the perfect reason.  The challenge is "just for little boys."

Under the Weather?

Today's card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2."  I used a green plaid card stock for the card base.  I cut a blue mat at 4"x5 1/4."  I then stamped a spotted background stamp, twice, across the blue mat.  I used pearlescent sky blue ink by Tsukineko.  The stamp is from All Night Media.

I used "3 Birds on Parade" for the image.  It was cut at 3 1/2" and is on page 30 of the handbook.  I cu the raindrops (layer 1) three times to get a good amount of raindrops for the card.  I adhered the bird and rain drops to the card and use a double layer of pop-dots to adhere the middle of the umbrella.  It gives is a pretty cool 3-D effect.  I used glittery flocking powder on the bird's wings.  I also covered her beak in glitter and then glossy accents.  The raindrops and her eyes are also covered in glossy accents.  I used a Peachy Keen stamp for her eyes, one from the Kawaii Face Assortment.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Sweet Somethings set.  I also used a stamp from that set on the inside as well.  The blue mat inside is 4"x5 1/4," the green plaid mat is 3 1/4"x4 1/2," and the pink mat is 3"x4 1/4."  I also added two more rain drops, covered in glossy accents, to the inside of the card as well.

I made this for the following challenges:

The Friday Mashup: project with a 3-D element and using a background stamp

Beach Bird

Today's card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  I used white card stock for the base.  The purple mat is 5 3/8"x4 1/8" and the pink polka dot mat is 5 1/4"x4."

The bird is from "3 Birds on Parade" (page 33) and was cut at 3 1/2."  The waves are from "Life is a Beach" (page 45) and they were cut at 1 1/2."  The sand was hand cut and covered in glitter.  The stamp shape is from "Elegant Edges" (page 37) and was cut at 4 1/4."  I embossed it with a Darice embossing folder called "Clouds."

I gave the bird a set of eyes from Peachy Keen Stamps, the Cartoon Bombshell Face Assortment.  I accented the eyes with a white gel pen and used some magenta chalk to add a little blush to her cheeks.  I then adhered her to the card with foam tape.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  The "warm" is from a sentiment that actually reads "cocoa warms the heart," from the Winter Wishes set.  I masked off all parts except the "warm."  "Birthday Wishes!" is from the Simple Sentiments set.  I then added some pink gems for a little bling.

I made this for the following challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut: project related to the beach
Cardz TV: child's birthday
Die Cuttin' Divas: beach inspired project

Chilly Bird

So, I completely went off track from my recent s'mores themed cards.  I didn't even keep it summer themed, or even warm weather themed.  Instead I made a Christmas card.

This guys is a shaped card using a cut from "3 Birds on Parade."  The image is on page 42 of the handbook.  I cut the shadow feature at 5 1/4" twice.  Then I glued the top 3/4" together to create my card base.  All the layers were also cut at 5 1/4."  I didn't use the piece of the bird that cut the eyes since I wanted to use Peachy Keen stamps for the eyes.  I covered the beak in yellow glitter, then covered all that with glossy accents.  The pom pom on the hat is covered with a dark green flocking powder.  I adhered the beak with a pop dot at the bottom of it and glue at the top for a little dimension.  The legs are covered in crackle accents for a little texture.  I also did a little doodling around the edges with a white gel pen.

The eyes for the bird are from Peachy Keen.  I used the largest set from the In the Garden Face Assortment.  I then used a white gel pen to accent the eyes and covered them in glossy accents.  The sentiments are from My Pink Stamper.

I used the current color challenge at Christmas Card Challenges as a jumping off point.  I used the reds and blues, but added in green as well.

More S'mores

I seem to have gotten on a s'mores kick recently.  I think I may need to make myself some s'mores soon.  So, here is my latest s'mores themed card:

The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4."  I used brown card stock for the card base.  I cut a mat of white card stock at 4 3/8"x6 1/8."  I then cut some tree patterned paper at 4 1/4"x6."  This paper is from The Paper Studio, the Woodland Retreat stack.  I also cut a strip of grass patterned paper (from Debbie Mumm) and hand cut it to look a little more like ground.

The bird and the fire are both from "3 Birds on Parade."  The bird is on page 57 and I cut it at 3."  It is adhered to the card with foam tape.  I added glossy accents to the bird's eye and inked the edge of one side of the marshmallow to make it look toasted.  I used tea dye Distress Ink for the toasty marshmallow.

The fire is created from various cuts on this cartridge.  The logs of the fire are part of a nest, found on page 75.  I cut it at 1."  All pieces of the flame are from the bird carrying a baby (layer 2) found on page 70.  I hid the inner cut of this piece and cut yellow pieces at 1 3/4," the orange piece at 1 1/2" and the red piece at 3/4."  I outlined the flames with star dust Stickles to give it a little shimmer.  The sentiment is from the Happy Camper set by Scrappy Moms Stamps.

Bundles of Joy

I have two cards today, they use the same sketch, same image, and same sentiment; however they are different colors.  One is meant for a baby boy and one is meant for a baby girl.

The cards are 6 1/4"x4 1/2."  I used an ivory colored card stock for the card base.  The green plaid and pink polka dot mats are 6 1/8"x4 3/8."  The bird patterned card stock is 6 1/8"x3 1/2."  The cloudy blue card stock strip is 6 1/8"x1 3/4."  The cloudy blue card stock is from K&Company and the other patterned card stocks are from DCWV, the Nana's Nursery Baby Boy stack and Nana's Nursery Baby Girl stack.

The bird/baby images are from "3 Birds on Parade," they are on page 70 of the handbook.  I cut them at 3," but I hid the eyes on both the birds and the baby so that I could give them Peachy Keen faces.  The faces for the babies are from The Cornies Face Assortment and the eyes for the birds are from the Everyday Character Face Parts set.  The bird/baby images are adhered to the card with foam tape.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the "Special Delivery" set.  I stamped it on an ivory piece of card stock, cut at 2 3/8"x1 3/8."  I matted it with the green plaid and pink polka dot card stocks, cut at 2 1/2"x1 1/2."  I finished off both cards with some enamel dots, green for the boy card and pink for the girl card.

I made this for the current sketch challenge at Peachy Keen.

Birthday Birdie

Here is a card I made today:

The card is 6 1/4"x4 1/2," and is made from white card stock.  The black mat is 6 1/8"x4 3/8" and the ombre green paper is 6"x4 1/4."  Both pieces of patterned paper are from the Spring and Summer Stack by DCWV.

The Polaroid image is from the Silhouette Store.  It is called "Polaroid Photo Frame" by Snapdragon Snippets (#18096).  It was cut at 3 5/8"x3."  I then cut a black mat for it at 3 3/4"x3 1/8."  I also cut a piece of palm fronds patterned paper to fit behind the open part of the frame.  I used a stamp from the "Big Sentiments 2" stamp set from My Craft Spot for my sentiment.

The bird is from the "3 Birds on Parade" cartridge.  It is the first image in the handbook (page 28).  I cut it at 2 1/4," not cutting the face or beak.  I then stamped a face on my bird using the Critter Faces Set from Peachy Keen Stamps.  I also flocked the wings and stomach, which I hand cut, to give my bird a little texture.

The final piece of my card was the flower.  It was also cut from the Silhouette.  It is called, "Set of 4 Layered Flowers" and by PPbN Designs (#56023).  I cut only one of the flowers, and then only the three smallest layers and the center dot.  The largest of the layers was 1.415"x1.54."  I pieced them together, leaving the petals loose and curling them slightly.  I added some glitter to the center of my flower, then attached it to the top corner of the image.

I made this for the following challenges:
BBTB2: birds
My Craft Spot: shake on something (glitter, flocking)
The Friday Mashup: sketch with an ombre background (I cheated a little and used an ombre paper)
Peachy Keen: photo/color inspiration (birds, blue and orange colors)

Thank You Card

I made a cute thank you card today.

The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4."  I used a light blue pre-made card base from The Paper Comopany.  The white card stock layer is 4 3/8"x6 1/8."  I used the Baby's Breath border embossing folder from Cuttlebug to emboss the left side of the white layer.  I then cut a light blue mat at 3 3/4"x4 1/2."  The yellow striped layer is 3 5/8"x4 3/8," and the paper is from the Spring and Summer Stack by DCWV.  Once all my layers were adhered together I wrapped it with a blue ribbon.

The image is from the "Just a Note" cartridge.  It can be found on page 36 of the handbook.  I cut it at 3 1/2."  The blue layer is covered with blue flocking powder.  The paper used for the umbrella is from the Sweetest Thing 6"x6" stack by My Mind's Eye.  The raindrops are from the "3 Birds on Parade" cartridge, page 30 of the handbook, and I covered them in glossy accents.  The bunny is adhered to the card with foam tape.

The sentiment is from My Craft Spot, the "Friends and Neighbors Inside & Out" set.

I made this card for the following challenges:

My Craft Spot: thank you cards/gifts
