BaDonkey Donk

I managed to fit in some more crafting time today!  So I made this super fun card:

The card base and donkey image are from SVG Cutting Files.  The card base is called Trapezoid Card Base.  It is about 4 3/8"x5 3/4" when folded.

The donkey is called BaDonkey Donk.  I sized the donkey to fit the card, which makes him about 4 3/4" tall.  I covered his hooves, eyes, and mouth with glossy accents.  I used the "Celebrations" Cricut cartridge to create the party hat.  I sized it so that it would fit on the donkey's head.  I added some yellow Stickles to the pom-pom on the hat.  The balloons are also sized to fit.  They are from the "Just a Note" Cricut cartridge (which came already linked to my previous Cricut Expression).

The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom.  It is on the Party Animal stamp set.  I finished off the front of the card with some pink, orange, and green sequins.

Hip-Hippo Hooray!

How cute is this hippo though?!  I love how it turned out!

The card is about 8 1/2"x4 3/4" (just a little bit smaller).  I used Cricut Craft Room to design this using "Wild Card" for the shaped base, "ZooBalloo" for the hippo, "George and Basic Shapes" for the stars, and "Just a Note" for the sentiment.

The card base, is on page 53 of the "Wild Card" handbook.  I cut it from the light purple card stock, then cut a piece of white card stock at 8"x3" to put behind the open space of the word bubble.  I rounded the corners of the white piece and embossed it with the a Darice Embossing folder called Assorted Stars.

The stars are all from "George and Basic Shapes," page 115 of the handbook.  The three largest are 2," 1 1/2," & 1 1/4."  The smallest one is 3/8," sized that way so that it would fit in the letter "a" of the sentiment.  The sentiment can be found on page 58 of the "Just a Note" handbook.  It was cut at 2."

The stars and sentiment were adhered right to the card base.  Since I adhered everything down before remembering that I wanted to stamp a sentiment around the edge I masked off the stars, then did my stamping.  The stamp is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Furry Friends set.

The hippo is on page 89 of the "ZooBalloo" handbook.  It was cut at 3 1/2."  I used the hide contour feature in Cricut Craft Room to hide the eyes and stamped on some Peachy Keen ones.  They are from the Sweet and Silly Face Assortment.  I used a white gel pen to accent the eyes and grey gel pen to add a little detail to the hippo's chin.  I adhered the hippo with foam tape.  I used yellow Stickles on the edges of the stars (and the whole star for the smallest one) and covered the hippo's eyes and nostrils with diamond glaze.

I made this for the following challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut: use the colors purple, yellow, & grey
My Sheri Crafts: use at least two stars

Thank You Card

I made a cute thank you card today.

The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4."  I used a light blue pre-made card base from The Paper Comopany.  The white card stock layer is 4 3/8"x6 1/8."  I used the Baby's Breath border embossing folder from Cuttlebug to emboss the left side of the white layer.  I then cut a light blue mat at 3 3/4"x4 1/2."  The yellow striped layer is 3 5/8"x4 3/8," and the paper is from the Spring and Summer Stack by DCWV.  Once all my layers were adhered together I wrapped it with a blue ribbon.

The image is from the "Just a Note" cartridge.  It can be found on page 36 of the handbook.  I cut it at 3 1/2."  The blue layer is covered with blue flocking powder.  The paper used for the umbrella is from the Sweetest Thing 6"x6" stack by My Mind's Eye.  The raindrops are from the "3 Birds on Parade" cartridge, page 30 of the handbook, and I covered them in glossy accents.  The bunny is adhered to the card with foam tape.

The sentiment is from My Craft Spot, the "Friends and Neighbors Inside & Out" set.

Relax & Enjoy!

Here is my third card using Just a Note. I also wanted to be able to enter this into the current weekly challenge at the Cricut Circle Blog. The challenge this week is a sketch, so I used that for the layout of my card. Here is the sketch:
Here is my interpretation of the sketch using the clouds from Just a Note:
The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used black cardstock for the base and rounded two corners. I then cut a piece of cloud patterened paper at 5 1/4"x4" and rounded two of its corners. I used Just a Note for the clouds, they are cut at 3." I flocked both of them, one in white and one in light blue. The large blue cloud is adhered with foam tape for some dimension. The sun is cut from Create a Critter at 1 3/4." I used a 1" circle punch for the light yellow inner layer of the sun since I didn't want the face. I tied a button with some light yellow floss and added that to the middle of the sun. I stamped the sentiment, which is actually three separate stamps and all by Scrappy Moms Stamps, on some white cardstock that I cut into the shape of a banner. A quick and easy one this time!

Banner Birthday

Here is another card using Just a Note and it is another birthday one, just much simpler this time. :)
The card is 5"x5" and made from white cardstock. I cut a piece of the plaid patterned cardstock at 5"x3." I used Just a Note for the banner. I adhered the ends to the card and used pop-dots on the banner pieces. I tied some blue buttons with red floss and added them to the ends of the banner. I used a Scrappy Moms Stamp for the sentiment. I finished off the card with three glittery white embellishements. I'm not really sure what to call them, but they are from Cloud 9 and I got them at JoAnns when they went on clearance. I also created a matching envelope for this card. It is made from white cardstock and has the same plaid cardstock for its liner.
I made this for the following challenges:
  • 365 Cards: "Day 137" - sketch
  • My Sheri Crafts: photo inspiration (I didn't really want to use the pastel colors, but I just loved the patterns and used them as my inspiration)
  • The Friday Mashup: create a card with a banner or flag & make a matching envelope

Sweet Squirrel

I have had the E2 since they came out with it. I just couldn't resist and bought it right away. In getting that one I got four pre-loaded cartridges. I have used something on all of those cartridges, except Just a Note. I always thought the little critters on there were cute, but just never used one on a project. So, now I am going to play around Just a Note and see what it has to offer. :) Here is my first creation with this cute little cartridge.
The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used a light green cardstock for the card base. I cut some brown cardstock at 5"x3 3/4" and then some polka dotted turquoise blue cardstock at 4 3/4"x3 1/2." I added a strip of brown cardstock cut at 3 1/2"x2" and a strip of light green cardstock at 3 1/2"x1 3/4." I ran the green cardstock through the Cuttlebug with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I only glued down the two sides and bottom...you'll see why in a bit. ;) The squirrel is cut from Just a Note at 3 1/2." I used foam tape to adhere it to the card. I covered all the pink with cotton candy Stickles and used Glossy Accents on his nose and eyes. I used Accent Essentials to cut the "sun." It is cut at 3" and the inner layer is a circle cut at 2 1/2." I used the sun to create a hidden tag for a sentiment on the front of my card. That is why I didn't adhere the strip all the around. I used a Scrappy Moms Stamp to stamp the sentiment on my sun tag. I finished off the front of the card with three orange buttons, one of which was tied with light pink floss.
For the inside I cut some brown cardstock at 5 1/4"x4" and the polka dotted turquoise cardstock at 5"x3 3/4." I added a strip of brown cardstock, cut at 3 3/4"x1 1/4" and light green cardstock cut at 3 3/4"x1." I used a Fiskars stamp for this sentiment. The lollipop is cut from Just a Note at 2." I added cotton candy Stickles to the pink swirl of the lollipop.
