Boy's Birthday

Here is a card for a little boy's birthday:

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of black card stock.  All the patterned card stock is from the Hip Hip Hooray stack by Doodlebug Design, Inc.  The grey mat was cut using a metal die from the Card Mat Dies set by Jaded Blossom.  The long rectangle with the zig zag pattern was cut using one of the Panel Dies from Jaded Blossom.

The two circles are both from the Stitched Circle Dies set by Jaded Blossom.  The dump truck is from Boys Will Be Boys.  It is cut at 2 3/4" and I put it on an action wobble so my nephew can have fun with it.  The 2 on the truck is from Robotz, cut at 1 1/8."

The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom as well.  It is from the So Many Birthdays set.

The rectangle and circles on the inside are from the same sets as I used on the front.  The sentiment is from the Scrappy Moms Stamps set Ready, Set, Go!

Friday Mashup Challenge #52

This is my final week as a Guest Designer at The Friday Mashup. I want to thank everyone there for giving me this wonderful opportunity, I have thoroughly enjoyed it! And now, on to the challenge:
1. Make a project using colorful twine
2. Or make a project featuring kites
3. Or mash it up and create a project with kites and colorful twine
I only have one color of twine....red/white. I think I may need to get some more colors! Since, I couldn't come up with anything using that particular color I just went with a project featuring kites. This also took me a while, but I settled on this cute, but simple baby girl card. Here is the ironic thing about this baby girl card...I used patterned paper from Nana's Nursery Baby Boy and the kite is from the cricut cartridge Boys Will Be Boys! The card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2." The brown mat is 4"x5 1/4," and the words mat is 3 7/8"x5 1/8." I wrapped the two mat layers with some sheer lavendar ribbon and adhered them to the card base. I used Boys Will Be Boys for the kite, it is cut at 4 1/2." I added a little white button to the center of it, because it just needed a little "something." The mats for the sentiment are from Elegant Edges. I used the oblong feature and cut the brown one at 2 1/2" and the ivory one at 2 1/4." The stamp is called "It's a Girl Script," by Whipper Snapper Designs. I use foam tape to adhere my kit to the card for some dimension. I finished it off with some lavendar pearls in the corners of the card and the sentiment mat. I hope you enjoyed my project and I hope you decide to play along at The Friday Mashup!

Frog Cards

A friend of my mom's wanted a card for a little boy's birthday. Apparently he loves frogs and the color orange. So, I made a couple of cards in order to give her a choice on which one she wants to use. This first card is 5"x5." I used orange cardstock for the card base, then cut some green cardstock 1/8" smaller. The final layer was cut at 4 3/4"x4 3/4." The frog was cut from the Playtime cartridge. I cut him at 4 1/2." I embossed the leaf layer with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. I gave him some google eyes, covered his belly with firefly Stickles and covered the rest of his body with glossy accents. The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.
This is the second card I came up with. This one is 4"x9." I used orange cardstock fo rthe card base. I then trimmed some orange gingham cardstock 1/4" smaller. The frogs and their squares are from Boys Will Be Boys, cut at 2." I embossed the inner square with the Distress Stripes embossing folder. The frogs are all covered with glossy accents and I gave them some google eyes. I used the same My Pink Stamper sentiment, but modified it a little for this card.

I made these cards for the following challenges:

  • Birthday Sundaes: birthday card, with birthday wording on the front

  • BBTB2: masculine/boy themed project

  • My Creative Time: "Throwback Thursday" - use a kid friendly cartridge to create a kid friendly themed project

Robot

Another long stretch between posts! I just can't believe how busy I am. I feel like a slacker because I used to post just about every day. Of course, that was when I only worked part time and did little else besides craft. Now I am full-time at my job, I go to the gym for an hour a day three days a week, I have my Tae Kwon Do class two nights a week. Now, I start school next week, so I will be even busier. I will post as much as I can, but I can't promise much. I will have at least my design team stuff for Card Creations & More, so look for those. I did manage to put together this cute little birthday card today.
It is a 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card, and the card base was a pre-made card from DCWV. I cut four 3/4" strips of the diamond plate cardstock, which is from the Guy Stack by DCWV. I then cut them at different lengths. I attached a square brad through the end of each piece and adhered them to the card base. I then cut my little robot from Boys Will Be Boys at 2 1/2." I used some gems for his eyes and a gel pen to draw in the little lines on his display. I stamped my sentiment using lightning black ink by Tsukineko and adhered it to the card base. I used pop-dots to adhere my robot. It is just that simple!

I made this for the following challenges:

Card Creations & More Challenge #10

It is time for another "So Saturday Challenge" at Card Creations & More by C! This week is challenge #10: your project should shake, wobble or pop!

I made a 5"x7" card for this challenge. The card base was made with a tan cardstock. I then cut a piece of light blue patterned paper 1/4" smaller and adhered it to the card base. I cut the sailboat, airplane and helicopter from Boys Will Be Boys. The sailboat is cut at 2," the helicopter at 1 3/4" and the airplane at 1 1/2." I then attached them all to some pieces of coiled wire. The present is created by covering some brown cardstock with the blue sqare patterned paper, it is 3"x3." I then cut "flaps" from the same brown cardstock. I added the ribbon to make it look like an opened present. I attached the wire to the back of the present, then adhered it to the card base using foam tape. Now all my little toys wobbled around!

For the inside of the card I cut two pieces of blue cardstock, each 1/4" smaller than the layer before, and adhered them down. I then used rich cocoa ink by Tskukineko to stamp my sentiment, and I don't remember who the stamp is by, I've had it in my stash for quite some time. I figure this would make a cute birthday card for a little boy! Enjoy!!

Now head on over to Card Creations & More by C and check out what the rest of the design team did! Then get inspired to make your own project that wobbles, shakes or pops! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
