Ice Museum

This is a 12"x12" layout that I created for the scrapbook I am making for my mother. She came to visit us when we were living in Alaska, so I wanted to make her a scrapbook to remember her visit. It will be slow going, as I have all kinds of projects in the works, but I will get it done eventually. I promise, Mom!

I used a silver cardstock for the base of the layout. I then cut six 1/2" strips of white cardstock. I then ran them through my Xyron and sprinkled each one with glitter. I adhered them to the page, three going vertical and three going horizontal. My largest picture, which is the one in the middle, is 4"x6," and double matted with orange and purple cardstock. My other three are 3 1/2"x5" and single matted with purple cardstock. All the mats are 1/8" larger than the picture (and the previous layer in the case of the largest picture). The title is cut from Cricut Keystone at 1 1/2." I covered it all with glossy accents and use pop-dots to adhere part of it down. The igloo is from Create a Critter, cut at 3." The penguin is from Winter Frolic, cut at 2 3/4." I used Cuttin' Up to cut the martini glasses. The one the penguin is holding is cut at 1/2" and the larger one is 2 1/2." I covered the igloo with glossy accents as well. I used pop-dots to adhere the penguin and the martini glass. I also gave the penguin google eyes.

I made this for the following challenges:

  • BBTB2: Jolly Holidays penguing (I don't own it, so I used Winter Frolic)

  • Color Throwdown: rainbow color pallete

  • Fantabulous Cricut: cool treat (what could be a cooler treat, literally and figuratively, than an apple martini served in a glass made entirely of ice)

  • The Paper Variety: every color of the rainbow

Guest Designer at My Sheri Crafts

I am honored to have been selected as the Guest Designer for this week's challenge at My Sheri Crafts! This week's challenge is to create something Summer or Beach Themed.
I created this 8 1/2"x11" layout for the challenge. The background paper is from K&Company. It was a 12"x12" piece of paper that I trimmed to fit. I cut a piece of brown cardstock 8 1/2" long then hand cut it to look like some sand. I ran it through my Xyron sticker maker then covered it with some smoky quartz glitter by Martha Stewart. The photo is 4"x6" and matted twice with blue cardstocks. The light glittery blue cardstock is cut at 4 1/4"x6 1/4" and the dark turquoise one is cut at 4 1/2"x6 1/2." I used All Mixed Up to cut the "beach" sentiment. It is cut at 1 1/2" and I used my Gypsy to weld it. I used Cricut Keystone to cut the B & Y in "boy." They are cut at 1 3/4." I used Pack Your Bags to cut the beach ball for the O in "boy." It is also cut at 1 3/4." I covered the red, blue and yellow pieces with glossy accents. I also used pop-dots to adhere the beach ball to the page, the rest of the title is just adhered onto the paper. The sandcastle is cut at 2 3/4" from Life is a Beach. I added some x-mas red Stickles to the flags. The shovel and pail is from Simply Charmed, I just didn't use the face. It is cut at 2 1/4." I used some diamond Stickles on the white piece on the pail and some glossy accents on the rest of the pail. The photo is the son of a friend of mine. I met her in when I lived in Alaska and was there when her son was born. They now live in Georgia (her husband is in the Army), so she sends me photo updates of the little guy and I just loved this one!

Graduation Album

I guess these are usually called "word books," but since this creates the number 2000, I will call it a number book. It is a mini album for pictures from my graduation and grad party. I found these pictures in an old album and thought they needed something a little more special.

I created the book using my Gypsy. I welded the numbers to squares and rectangles. The numbers came from Robotz and the squares/rectangles the make up the pages are from George and Basic Shapes. The book is 5" tall and made from chipboard. The grad cap on the front is from Locker Talk, cut at 2 1/2." I flocked the tassle and used glossy accents on the button. The title is Cricut Keystone, cut at 1" for "Central" and 3/4" for "graduation." I then embossed it with Swiss Dots. Each page was covered with red cardstock and the numbers were covered with white glitter cardstock. I used an EK Success punch for the star border and all the small stars. The one larger star is a Fiskars punch. This title is from Jasmine, cut at 1 1/2."

I added Stickles to the stars on this page.

The banner and font are both from Birthday Bash. The banner is cut at 1 1/4" and the font at 3/4." I then used some white glitter on the font.

I made this for the following challenges:

Think BIG

The challenge today at 365 Cards is "All Creatures Great and Small." The challenge is to use one small creature and one large creature on your card. I also just found a challenge that the Cricut Couple is hosting, which is to make a project with a cat theme. I figured I could combine the two and this is what I came up with, a little cat looking in the mirror and seeing a tiger.

The card is 5"x7." I used some paw print paper that I found in my stash for the matting. It is cut 1/4" smaller than the card base. The ovals were cut from George, the brown one at 5" with a 4 1/2" smaller one inside, to create a frame and the white one was cut at 5" as well. The tiger is from Animal Kingdom and cut at 4." The cat is also from Animal Kingdom and cut at 2 1/2." I used a marker to add some shading and added Stickles for the eyes and glossy accents on the nose. The word "dream" was cut from Jasmine at 1" and the word "BIG" was cut from Cricut Keystone at 1 1/4." I used my Gypsy to strech the letters to make them wider. The ribbon is from my stash.
