Paint Splatter

Today's card set is super quick and simple to make.  I made all six of these in about 45 minutes, and that included the time spent trying to pick out the right shade of paper to match the ink.

All the cards are 4 1/2"x4 1/2."  I used white card stock for the bases, then cut coordinating shades of blue and green for the mats.  They were cut at 4 3/8"x4 3/8."  I then cut another white layer at 4 1/4"x4 1/4."  I used the "Indie Art" cartridge to create my paint splatter.  It is the image with the skull (circled in red on the image), but if you used the blackout feature you get just the splatter.
I cut it at 2 3/4" and used it as a stencil.  I layered it on my cards and then inked up the negative space created my the cut image.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks for all six cards.  The colors were: mowed lawn, peeled paint, crushed olive, faded jeans, peacock feathers, and tumbled glass.  I then stamped my sentiment, which is from Paper Smooches, over the top of the paint splatter.

I made these cards for the following challenges:

BBTB2: use the Cricut cut as a stencil
Fantabulous Cricut: favorite colors (greens and blues)
CASology: cue word - paint

Two Simple Cards

It is pouring rain here, with a tornado watch in effect, so I decided to craft the night away while I wait it out. My husband is out of town for a couple of days so that leaves me with two dogs that clearly do not like thunder! It isn't too bad though, they just curl up by my feet and let me do my work.
I made a couple of cards tonight, and both of them are pretty simple. This first one is for the challenge at Celebrate the Occasion. Their current challenge is to create something for a male birthday and to use a circle. I used Wild Card to cut the circle card base, it is 5" around. I cut two circles, one at 4 3/4" and one at 4 1/2" for my mats. The patterned paper is from DCWV's Guy Stack. I used Father's Day to cut the golf club/ball. I embossed the tee with Forest Branches and the golf ball with Polka Dots, I used the debossed side for that one. I also added glossy accents to the ball. I stamped my sentiment, which is from Fiskars, in coffee bean ink by Tsukineko. I finished off the card by adding some buttons. I made this one at the request of my mom, it is for her brother's birthday.
The second card today is for the ice cream cone challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2. I used the ice cream cone from Indie Art and cut it at 4." I pop-dotted the ice cream part of the cone, and also pop-dotted the whole cone to the card. The white layer is embossed with the D'vine Swirls folder. The patterned paper is from Penny Lane by My Mind's Eye. The sentiment is stamped in jumbo java ink by Tsukineko and is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Kids Incorporated set.
There you go. Two quick and easy cards for tonight, I hope you enjoy!

Spring Wall Banner

It was time to make another banner for the wall between my front door an window. This time I made one for spring! I didn't initally like how this was looking when I started. I chose the colors based on the inspiration of the patterned papers. They all came from The Spring Stack by DCWV. Once I had all the scalloped circles and letters put together I thought it looked a little dark, but once I added everything else to it I actually loved it!
The scalloped circles were cut at 4" and the inner circles are cut at 3 1/2," both are from Cricut Essentials (pre-loaded on the E2). The letters are cut at 3" from the Songbird cartridge. I used both the shadow and regular feature. I used foam adhesive to attach the letters to the scalloped circles. The sun and clouds are cut from Pooh and Friends, the rainbow is cut from Hello Kitty Greetings, The rain is from Indie Art, and the umbrella is from the Wedding cartridge. I added some Glimmer Mist to the sun, I embossed the cloud on the rainbow with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder, I flocked the clouds and added glossy accents to the rain for some added dimension. I finished off the banner with some pale yellow pearls and tied a bow around a loop of ribbon and attached it to the back of the banner to hang it on the wall.

365 Cards Guest Designer: Week 2

This is my second week being a guest designer for 365 Cards. This is this week's sketch, and below is my take on the sketch.

I made a 4 1/4"x5 1/2" card, using dark red cardstock. I cut some glittery black cardstock 1/4" smaller, then embossed it with the Diamond Plate embossing folder and my Cuttlebug, although it doesn't show well in the photos. I adhered it down and added four silver brads to the corners. I used Indie Art to cut the shadow version of the heart out of the dark red cardstock. It is cut at 3 1/2." I then added some silver craft metal across the card. I cut some glittery black cardstock using the shadow heart again, this time cut at 3." I cut the regular heart with the dark red cardstock, again at 3." I pop-dotted the 3" hearts and covered the red one in crackle accents.

Kiss Me...

Here is a super fun shaped card for you today! I used the pot of gold from Simply Charmed and welded two images on my Gypsy to get my card base. It is cut at 5." I used a shimmery gold cardstock for the base, then cut the gold pieces from yellow cardstock and the pot from black cardstock. I then used some yellow Stickles on the gold (because you HAVE to have sparkly gold) and some glossy accents on the pot. The glossy accents too FOREVER to dry since it was such a large area. :) The shamrock is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up. The larger layer is cut at 3 1/2" and the smaller one is cut at 3." I then added some faux stitching around both images and gave him a cute Peachy Keen face. I added a piece of green bling and pop-dotted the smaller layer to the larger layer. I cut the lips from Indie Art, using my Gyspy so I could hide all those cut-outs, at 3/4" from a pink cardstock. I then added some diamond Stickles to them. The sentiment, "Kiss Me," is from Sweethearts. I cut it at 1 1/2" and added some faux stitching and some bling to it as well. I tied a ribbon around my pot and then layered my pieces on. I cut out the pot of gold again, this time in a glittery yellow and the pot in green for the inside. I then stamped the, "i'm Irish," sentiment on the inside. This card is about 5"x5" with all its layers. I just love how it turned out! :)

I made this card for the following challenges:
  • Peachy Keen: "Let's Face It Friday" - use faux or real stitching
  • Paper Cutz: St. Patrick's Day
  • My Creative Time: "Throwback Thursday" - use an older cartridge and make something for St. Patrick's Day

Rock On!

Here's a fun card for today. It is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used a blue cardstock for the card base, then stamped the skull and wings image onto the cardstock, using blue iris ink from ColorBox. I sanded the edges and the top of the cardstock to give it a distressed feel. I then wrapped the card with some ribbon and added three brads up in the top left corner. I used Indie Art to cut the guitar at 2 1/2." I then mounted it on some white cardstock, cut at 3 1/2"x1 1/4." I also inked the edges of the cardstock with the blue iris ink. I mounted that on some shimmery blue cardstock, and I distressed the edges. The sentiment is stamped in the same blue iris ink and is from My Pink Stamper. I used sketch #101 from Card Patterns for the layout of the card. I also made this for Tuesday's challenge at 365 Cards. Their challenge is "Feeling Like a Rock Star" - add a rock star style to your card.

Flaunt It Friday's Challenge #10

It is challenge #10 this week at Flaunt It Fridays. The challenge this week is to flaunt the lip from the Indie Art Solutions cartridge.
For my project, I decided to make an envelope that is sealed with the lips. When I finished the envelope, I realized it needed a matching card, so I made that too. I made the envelope to fit a 6"x6" card. On the front, which I don't picture, I stamped the S.W.A.K. sentiment across the bottom. I then stamped the same sentiment on the top and bottom of the back of the envelop. I cut the lips at 3" out of a shimmery red cardstock. I then cut them again, using the shadow feature, out of white cardstock. I attached them to the envelope flap and added some glossy accents....because lips should be glossy! The card is 6"x6" and made of white cardstock. I then cut some of the same shimmery red cardstock 1/8" smaller and another piece of white cardstock 1/4" smaller than that. I tied a red ribbon around the card and then stamped the "Love You" and hearts onto the background. I cut the lips, again at 3," from the shimmery red cardstock and the shadow feature from white cardstock. The "smack" sentiment is also from Indie Art, it is the shift option on the lips. I cut that at 1 1/2," from the shimmery red cardstock again and white cardstock with the shadow feature. I adhered the lips to the card and used pop-dots to adhere the sentiment. What could be better than an envelope that is truly "sealed with a kiss?"

Come on over the Flaunt It Fridays and flaunt your creations using those luscious lips from Indie Art! If you don't have Indie Art, then find some other lips and flaunt those. I can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

Feeling Lucky

I thought this turned out to be a pretty fun card. I wasn't sure of it at first, but I kept going and I like the end result. The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4" and made of black cardstock. I trimmed some shimmery white cardstock at 4 1/4"x6" and then embossed it with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I cut a strip of pink cardstock at 2 1/2"x6 1/4" and used an EK Success border punch on each side. I then added some black gems on every other scallop. I wrapped some ribbon around the strip and then adhered it to the card. I cut the corset from Tie the Knot at 3 1/2." I used some black pearls for the buttons on it and then added some diamon Stickles to the edges for some shimmer. I adhered it to the middle of the card with some pop-dots. I used Blackletter for the "feeling," cut at 1," and used my Gypsy to weld the letters together. "Lucky" is cut from Indie ar at 1." I used some black glitter on both parts of the sentiment. I left the inside blank because I still don't quite know what to put on the inside...I'm hoping I can come up with something good, but until then, it stays blank. :)
I made this card for the following challenges:

Luv U

This is a Valentine's Day card for my husband. It is hard enough to make masculine cards for most occasions, but I think it is even harder to make them for Valentine's or anniversaries. Anyways, I think this one turned out really well and is perfect for a masculine Valentine's Day card.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made out of black cardstock. I took a piece of a metal craft sheet and cut it to 5 1/4"x4." I then embossed it with the Diamond Plate embossing folder. I used Indie Art to cut the heart at 3." I used the blackout feature for the black heart and the regular cut for the red heart. I put two black brads through the top and used some black twine to hand the heart from a silver brad that I put at the top of the card. I used Stamped for the sentiment, using the rectangle feature. I cut the letters out at 1" and used the solid rectangle to place beneath the letters. I then used foam tape to adhere them to the card.

This is for 365 Cards, where today's "Flashback Friday" challenge is: Metal Mania-to use at least one piece of metal, in any shape or size, on your card.
