365 Cards Guest Designer: Final Week

This is my final week being the guest designer at 365 Cards. It has been a lot of fun and I hope you have enjoyed my creations using Pam's sketches.

This is my interpretation of sketch #54, this week's Super Sketchy Sunday sketch. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew that I wanted to create a tri-fold card. The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4" when it is all folded up. The smaller fold (on the left) is 2 1/2" wide and the larger flap (on the right) is 4" wide. I covered both flaps with the glittery pink cardstock, which is by Recollections. The pieces are cut 1/4" smaller than the flaps they are on. For the larger flap I also added some flocked zebra stripe paper. It is cut 1/4" smaller than the pink cardstock. The labels were cut using Elegant Edges. The three on the flap are cut at 2" and I used the regular and shadow features for them. The label that is coming off the lower right portion of the small flap is also from Elegant Edges. It is the "book" feature. It is the same label as the other ones and is cut at 2 1/4 (white layer) and 2 1/2" (black layer). I stamped my sentiment, which is from Scrappy Mom Stamps on the label and adhered it to the back of the flap. I then added some magenta Stickles around the edge of the white part of the label. I used Birthday Bash to cut out the "3" and "0" at 1 1/2." I then flocked them with some black flocking powder. The martini glass is from Cuttin' Up and cut at 2." I used pop-dots to adhere it to the card.

I am also entering this card in this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge.

Martini Birthday

This card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used black cardstock for the base of the card. I then cut a piece of white cardstock at 4 1/4"x6." I stamped the martini glass image on it multiple times, then heat embossed it with clear embossing poweder. I used a sponge applicator to ink the cardstock with pearlescent orchid ink, by Tsukineko. I wrapped it with some polka dotted ribbon and adhered it to the card base. The martini glass is cut at 3 1/4" from Cuttin' Up. I cut the shadow piece in black, then the regular part in a pearlescent white cardstock. I cut the regular piece again in a pearlescent pink cardstock but just cut out the "drink" part of the glass. I embossed it with the Cuttlebug and the D'vine Swirls embossing folder. I used pop-dots to adhere it to the card. I tied a bow using some more polka dotted ribbon and adhered it to the stem of the martini glass. I used Cuttin' Up for the numbers as well. They are cut at 2," using black for the shadow and the pearlescent white for the regular cut. I then covered the white portion with star dust Stickles. I adhered it to the base of the card so that part of the numbers were under the martini glass. I stamped my sentiment in black ink on white cardstock. I then matted it with the pearlescent pink and black cardstocks. I used pop-dots to adhere it over the bottom of the martini glass.

I also finished the inside of the card. I cut some pearlescent pink cardstock at 4 1/4"x6" and some white cardstock at 4"x5 3/4." I stamped the martini glasses in the same pearlescent orchid ink that I used on the front.

I made this card for the following challenges:

BBTB2: numbers challenge

Celebrate the Occasion: any occasion, use polka dots

Whimsical Designs: anything goes

Perfect Sentiments: birthday, emboss resist technique

Ice Museum

This is a 12"x12" layout that I created for the scrapbook I am making for my mother. She came to visit us when we were living in Alaska, so I wanted to make her a scrapbook to remember her visit. It will be slow going, as I have all kinds of projects in the works, but I will get it done eventually. I promise, Mom!

I used a silver cardstock for the base of the layout. I then cut six 1/2" strips of white cardstock. I then ran them through my Xyron and sprinkled each one with glitter. I adhered them to the page, three going vertical and three going horizontal. My largest picture, which is the one in the middle, is 4"x6," and double matted with orange and purple cardstock. My other three are 3 1/2"x5" and single matted with purple cardstock. All the mats are 1/8" larger than the picture (and the previous layer in the case of the largest picture). The title is cut from Cricut Keystone at 1 1/2." I covered it all with glossy accents and use pop-dots to adhere part of it down. The igloo is from Create a Critter, cut at 3." The penguin is from Winter Frolic, cut at 2 3/4." I used Cuttin' Up to cut the martini glasses. The one the penguin is holding is cut at 1/2" and the larger one is 2 1/2." I covered the igloo with glossy accents as well. I used pop-dots to adhere the penguin and the martini glass. I also gave the penguin google eyes.

I made this for the following challenges:

  • BBTB2: Jolly Holidays penguing (I don't own it, so I used Winter Frolic)

  • Color Throwdown: rainbow color pallete

  • Fantabulous Cricut: cool treat (what could be a cooler treat, literally and figuratively, than an apple martini served in a glass made entirely of ice)

  • The Paper Variety: every color of the rainbow

Campin' Critters Bigfoot

Here is another Father's Day card using Campin' Critters...I told you I love the cuts on this cartridge! This card is 5"x5" and I used dark brown cardstock for the base. I cut some leaf patterned paper at 4 3/4"x4 3/4" and adhered it to the card. I then cut a dark brown strip of cardstock 5"x1 1/2" and some tan cardstock at 5"x1 1/4." I stamped a woodgrain pattern on the tan cardstock, using walnut stain ink by Tim Holtz. Bigfoot is cut from Campin' Critters at 3 1/2." I used a Fiskars stamp and the same ink for the sentiment on the front of the card. For the inside of the card I cut some tan cardstock at 4 3/4"x4 3/4" and some corners from the leaf patterned paper and adhered them down. I used my Gypsy to weld the letters to create the "big guy" sentiment. They are cut from Cuttin' Up and the whole sentiment is 2" tall.

I made this card for the following challenges:

Flaunt It Fridays Challenge #8

The challenge this week at Flaunt It Fridays is to use the bear in the trash can cut from Give a Hoot. This cut can be found on page 61 of the handbook.
I decided to make a pop-up card for this challenge. I used paper from the Flower Shower Stack from DCWV for the background on both the front and inside of the card. I cut the bear in the can at 3 3/4." I used some glossy accents on the trash can and lid. I cut some cream cardstock using the shadow feature, then mounted the bear on some teal cardstock, which I trimmed to fit. I then cut some brown cardstock 1/8" larger than the teal. I used my Cricut markers to write out the sentiment, using Cuttin' Up for the font (the cartoon feature). The brown cardstock is 1/4" larger than the white cardstock the sentiment is written on. I used pop-dots to adhere the sentiment to the card. The bear on the inside is cut at 2 3/4" from ZooBalloo. I cut another trash can lid from Give a Hoot that fit the bear. I used glossy accents on this lid as well. The sentiment on the inside is cut using Cuttin' Up (regular feature) at 1." I then glittered the whole phrase.
Hope you come on over to Flaunt It Fridays and flaunt your bear in a trash can. If you don't have the Give a Hoot cartridge, then find a similar cut or image and use that. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!! Enjoy!!

Drinks Anyone?

Happy New Year!!

This was my big project for the New Year. I started this on New Year's Eve and finished it this morning, New Years Day. It is my first shaped book and I think it turned out really great. It took a lot of time, but it was definitely worth it. I decided to make a drink recipe book for all the fun drink recipes I have collected here and there over the years.

I made this for the challenge at Flaunt it Fridays, which is to use the martini glass from the From My Kitchen Cartridge. I am also going to enter this into the weekly challenge at the Cricut Circle blog. The challenge there is to create something that is not the regular square or rectangle, to include a number somewhere and some bling.

I designed this book in my Gypsy. I used the squished circle that is on George and Basic Shapes for the base of my book. It is cut at 5." I then welded the different drink shapes to each page, they are all at 4." The martini glass and glass with straw are both from From My Kitchen. The pineapple drink is from Life is a Beach. The wine glass is from Celebrate with Flourish. The mug is from Ashlyn's Alphabet. I cut the book sections from chipboard and covered them with cardstock from DCWV, their Citrus Stack. I then cut all the pieces for the drinks out of cardstock and decorated them with bling, Stickles, glossy accents and ink. I used glittery stickers to number each section and some DCWV stickers for the last page. I also cut out the titles. "Martini Madness" is from Cuttin' Up; "Creative Cocktails" is from Makin' the Grade; "Fun 'n' Fruity" is from Life is a Beach; "Classic Cordials" is from Cursive 101; "Winter Warmers" is from Once Upon a Princess. I cut pages from white cardstock and stuck two pages in each section for writing in drink recipes that I have picked up over the years, or for new ones I will pick up in the future. I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes in everything and put it all together with a couple of metal rings.

Deck the Halls

I have one more card for the day. It is a 3 3/4" x 9" card. I used some striped patterned paper cut at 3 1/2 x 6 1/4" and a piece of red paper cut at 3 1/2 x 2 1/2" and embossed with the Seeing Spots folder. The "Deck" and "Halls" part of the sentiment was cut at 1 1/2" using Cuttin' Up and the cartoon feature. I used Cricut Classic Font for "the" and cut it at 3/4." The ornament is cut from Lyrical Letters at 1 3/4." I doodled on the sentiment and added some gems to card front and the ornament and I used some red Stickles on the top of the ornament. The inside of the card was stamped with a sentiment stamp from my stash.
I used the sketch from Clean & Simple to inspire the layout of my card. I also made this for the "Deck the Halls and ornament" challenge at BBTB2. The challenge was to use the deck the halls and ornaments from Winter Frolic, but I don't have the cartridge, so I created my own version. :) Finally, I made this for the ABC Challenge blog, where the challenge is "J is for Jewels (or Gems)."

Bun in the Oven

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is "What's Cooking," where your project had to have something to do with the cooking of food. When I saw this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I used the From My Kitchen cartridge and cut the oven out of yellow at 7" and in again in black, but with the blackout feature. I cut out the middle of the yellow oven, where the door would go. I then cut out the layers and when I glued on the oven door, I only did it at the bottom so that I could open it up. On the inside I used the Cuttin' Up cartridge and my Gypsy to weld the sentiment, "bun in the oven?" and cut it out in black. I used alphabet stickers to write out the "congrats." I attached an easel to the back so that it can stand up, since it opens in an unconventional way. I have a friend who just found out she is pregnant and I think this will be perfect for her.
