Christmas Window

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of purple card stock.  I used Cricut Design Space to slice the images of a rectangle (5 1/4"x4") and the window to create a negative space in the shape of the window, then cut that using turquoise card stock. I embossed that piece with the Ornamental Iron Cuttlebug embossing folder.

The tree is a rubber stamp that I had in my stash.  I stamped it with embossing ink, then covered it with gold embossing powder.  I cut it out using the Brother Scan 'n' Cut 2.  I then added some purple Stickles to the branches of the tree.  The hillside was cut using the Stitched Hillside Borders die by Lawn Fawn.  I then covered it in Wink of Stella for a little shimmer.

I cut a blacked out shadow of the window in white, the embossed it with the Snowflake Swirl embossing folder by Darice.  I used a piece of acetate to make the window look more realistic.  The turquoise shadow, white window pane, and the acetate are adhered to the turquoise background, then adhered to the card with foam tape for dimension.  I added a touch of turquoise glitter around the edges of the window for sparkle.

The sentiment and the banner are both from My Craft Spot.  The sentiment was stamped with embossing ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  I adhered the middle of the banner with two layers of foam tape and adhered the ends with glue dots.

I cut a turquoise mat at 5 1/4"x4" and a white mat at 5 1/8"x3 7/8."  I stamped the swirls in embossing ink and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder.  The sentiment was stamped in grape jelly ink by Tsukineko.  Both the swirls and the sentiment were from My Craft Spot.

I made this card for the current challenge at Daring Cardmakers.  It is to use three elements from the photo on your card.
I was inspired by the turquoise and purple color palette, the gold accents, and the window.

Rainbow of Butterflies

I decided to make a card set using a rainbow of colors, one for each card.  I'm just missing yellow, but I don't have a good selection of yellow chalk-type ink, which is what I used for these, so I made do without.  There are still seven in all, so I think missing yellow is probably fine.

The cards are all 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  I used both dies and stamps from Jaded Blossom to create them.  The white mats are cut using the Card Mat Dies.  I stamped my sentiment, from Love & Kindness, in black ink at the bottom.  I then embossed them with the Cherry Blossom embossing folder by Darice.  The colored scalloped circles are cut using the Scallop Circle Dies and the white circle is from the Stitched Circle Dies.  I used the Butterflies stamp set and stamped the outline in black.  I then used the stamp for the interior part and used three different colors for the wings.  I went from light to dark, each in the color of the card, to get a slight variegated look.  I used chalk-type ink, from Tsukineko, for a softer feel.

Deep Sea

I have been so busy with my summer class that I have not really had much time to craft.  Well, today my class was shortened due to a medical problem with my instructor's family.  All we did today was our crayfish dissection and then we got to leave, so I decided to use some of that spare time to craft.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of grey card stock.  I cut some light blue card stock at 5 1/4"x4."  I used a Darice embossing folder on the blue card stock, it is called Beach Waves.  I cut a strip of kraft card stock and covered it with copper glitter for the sand.

The sign is from the Cricut cartridge "H2O."  I used the hide contour feature to hide the words on the sign.  I stamped the sentiment on the sign, it is three different stamps from Paper Smooches.  The "have a" is from the Blossoming Buds set, the "swell" is from the Surf and Turf set, and the "birthday" is from the Sentiment Sampler set.

All the little sea creatures are from the Surf and Turf set by Paper Smooches.  I stamped them on white card stock, colored them in, cut them out, and adhered them to the card.

I made this for the following challenges:
BBTB2: use a sign or banner
Die Cuttin' Divas: something you would find in sea or aquarium
Paper Smooches SPARKS: anything goes

Underdog

I made two Father's Day cards today, but with the same image and layout.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of black card stock.  I cut some blue star patterned card stock at 5 3/8"x4 1/8."  The red wavy strip is 1 1/2"x3 3/4."  The black mat is 3 3/4"x3 1/2" and the white mat is 3 5/8"x3 3/8."  I embossed the white mat using the Assorted Stars embossing folder by Darice.

Underdog is an SVG that I got on a blog hop from SVG Cutting Files.  He was cut at 3 1/4."  I used foam tape to adhere his fist and head for a little dimension.  His nose and eyes are covered in glossy accents.

The comic book burst in the corner is from the digital Cricut set called "Crash! Boom! Pow!"  I used the print & cut feature since it was so small, 1 1/2."

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Fan-tastic! set.  I stamped it on white card stock, trimmed it to fit, then added it below Underdog.

The red mat on the inside of the card is 5 3/8"x4 1/8."  The black mat is 4 3/8"x3 1/8" and the white mat is 4 1/4"x3."  The sentiment is from Fiskars, I don't know what set, I just found it in my stash.

Corgi

One of the things I love most about my home is my two little Corgis.  They are cute, full of energy, a wonderful source of amusement, and just so full of love.  I got an set of SVGs of Corgis a while back, but have not yet used them.  Well, today I finally made a card using one of those cut files.  I figure this card will more than likely go to my husband.

The card base is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of a dark green card stock.  The green polka dot card stock is 5 1/4"x4."

The background mat is cut from the "Cricut Font and Basic Shapes" cartridge.  This one is free on the Cricut Explore.  I cut it at 4 3/4" and embossed the white layer with the Darice Embossing Folder called "Paw Print Background."

The corgi is a cut file, as mentioned earlier, from SVG Cutting Files.  It is called Corgi Pup Dogs, and it includes four different dogs.  I used the sitting Corgi and cut it at 3 1/2."  I inked around the edges of the brown fur with tea dye Distress Ink.  I added some detail with a white gel pen, then covered the eyes and nose with glossy accents.  The nose is adhered with foam tape and the dog is also adhered to the background with foam tape.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  It is from their Raining Cats & Dogs set.  I then finished off the card with some enamel hearts.

I made this for the following challenges:

A Banner Birthday

This card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2."  I used white card stock for the card base.  The background is a pattern from the Silhouette store.  It is called "Christmas Diamond Pattern," by Jamie Koay (#21187).  I printed it and then trimmed it to 4 1/8"x5 3/8."  The banner is also from the Silhouette store.  It is by Lori Whitlock (#12744).  I cut it to fit the length of the card, then covered it with fluorescent turquoise glitter by Martha Stewart.  The white mat is 4 1/4"x4 1/2" and is embossed with a Darice embossing folder called Scrolls Background.

Beach Bird

Today's card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  I used white card stock for the base.  The purple mat is 5 3/8"x4 1/8" and the pink polka dot mat is 5 1/4"x4."

The bird is from "3 Birds on Parade" (page 33) and was cut at 3 1/2."  The waves are from "Life is a Beach" (page 45) and they were cut at 1 1/2."  The sand was hand cut and covered in glitter.  The stamp shape is from "Elegant Edges" (page 37) and was cut at 4 1/4."  I embossed it with a Darice embossing folder called "Clouds."

I gave the bird a set of eyes from Peachy Keen Stamps, the Cartoon Bombshell Face Assortment.  I accented the eyes with a white gel pen and used some magenta chalk to add a little blush to her cheeks.  I then adhered her to the card with foam tape.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  The "warm" is from a sentiment that actually reads "cocoa warms the heart," from the Winter Wishes set.  I masked off all parts except the "warm."  "Birthday Wishes!" is from the Simple Sentiments set.  I then added some pink gems for a little bling.

I made this for the following challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut: project related to the beach
Cardz TV: child's birthday
Die Cuttin' Divas: beach inspired project

Hip-Hippo Hooray!

How cute is this hippo though?!  I love how it turned out!

The card is about 8 1/2"x4 3/4" (just a little bit smaller).  I used Cricut Craft Room to design this using "Wild Card" for the shaped base, "ZooBalloo" for the hippo, "George and Basic Shapes" for the stars, and "Just a Note" for the sentiment.

The card base, is on page 53 of the "Wild Card" handbook.  I cut it from the light purple card stock, then cut a piece of white card stock at 8"x3" to put behind the open space of the word bubble.  I rounded the corners of the white piece and embossed it with the a Darice Embossing folder called Assorted Stars.

The stars are all from "George and Basic Shapes," page 115 of the handbook.  The three largest are 2," 1 1/2," & 1 1/4."  The smallest one is 3/8," sized that way so that it would fit in the letter "a" of the sentiment.  The sentiment can be found on page 58 of the "Just a Note" handbook.  It was cut at 2."

The stars and sentiment were adhered right to the card base.  Since I adhered everything down before remembering that I wanted to stamp a sentiment around the edge I masked off the stars, then did my stamping.  The stamp is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Furry Friends set.

The hippo is on page 89 of the "ZooBalloo" handbook.  It was cut at 3 1/2."  I used the hide contour feature in Cricut Craft Room to hide the eyes and stamped on some Peachy Keen ones.  They are from the Sweet and Silly Face Assortment.  I used a white gel pen to accent the eyes and grey gel pen to add a little detail to the hippo's chin.  I adhered the hippo with foam tape.  I used yellow Stickles on the edges of the stars (and the whole star for the smallest one) and covered the hippo's eyes and nostrils with diamond glaze.

I made this for the following challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut: use the colors purple, yellow, & grey
My Sheri Crafts: use at least two stars
My Craft Spot: shaped cards
