Tons of Fun

This fun shaped card is for my godson's birthday, which is coming up at the end of the month.

The card was made by using an elephant from "ZooBalloo" to create the base.  I cut two of the shadows and adhered them together at the top.

The balloons are from "Birthday Bash."  I used foam tape to adhere them at the top and regular glue to adhere them under the trunk.  The flag is from "Create a Critter."  I hid the face on the flag and then stamped my sentiment on the flag.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Mini Messages set.  I used foam tape to adhere the top part and regular glue to adhere the stick under the trunk.  I added a bow from "The First Few Years" to finish off the front.

I used two different stamps to create my sentiment on the inside.  The top part is from Jaded Blossom, the Party Animal stamp set.  The bottom part is from My Favorite Things, the Adorable Elephants set.

Snail Mail

My husband reminded me today that his mother's birthday is tomorrow and he had forgotten to have me make a card for her.  So, I took a study break and made this one:

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4 and made from a pink premade card base.  I cut some white card stock at 5 3/8"x4 1/8.  I then cut some pink floral patterned card stock with a die from Jaded Blossom.  It is part of the Card Mat Dies set.

The stamp shaped background is from the "Phrases" Cricut cartridge.  I cut it at 3 3/4" wide.  The snail is from the "Birthday Bash" Cricut cartridge.  It was cut at 3" wide.  I hid the features for the eyes and cheeks.  Instead, I used some pink chalk for the cheeks and a Peachy Keen stamp for the eyes.  It is from the Kawaii Face Assortment.  I then added a little detail to the eyes and cheeks with a white gel pen.  The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom.  It is from the Sweet Birthday Wishes set and stamped on a piece of pink card stock cut with another part of the Card Mat Dies set.

He Reminds Me of Watson

I made a masculine birthday card today:

The card is 7"x5."  I used the "Birthday Bash" cartridge to create my postage stamp shape, with the help of Cricut Craft Room.  The shape is actually supposed to be square, but I needed it to be a rectangle to fit my image.  I turned off the aspect ration in CCR and sized the card to 7"x10" so that it would be 5" when folded.  The card shape can be found on page 31 of the "Birthday Bash" handbook, it is the card/tag feature.  The embossed glittery layer is the shift function of this image.  I sized it at 6"x4" (making sure the aspect ratio was still off).  It was embossed with the Cuttlebug folder called "Clockwork."

The image is a Tim Holtz stamp.  I bought it just a few days ago, it is part of a set called "Time Travelers."  I pretty much bought this set because the images of the two men on it reminded me of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, of the classic Victorian style created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  This particular image is the one that makes me think of Watson.  I stamped it with walnut stain Distress Ink.  The paper was trimmed to 4 5/8"x3."  The shimmery brown layer behind the image is 4 3/4"x3 1/8."  I distressed the edges of all the layers except the card base.  I then inked them all, including the card base, with more walnut stain Distress Ink.  The "HB" sentiment is from the Scrappy Moms Stamps set "Hooray for Birthdays."  It is also stamped in the walnut stain Distress Ink.

For the inside I cut two mats.  The glittery brown one is 6"x4" and the ivory one is 5 3/4"x3 3/4."  I distressed the edges of both mats and inked them with the walnut stain Distress Ink.  The sentiment is form Fiskars.  It was stamped with the walnut stain Distress Ink.

I made this card for the following challenges:
{PIN}spirational Challenges: photo inspiration (below)
Die Cuttin' Divas: use something old (Birthday Bash cartridge) and something new (image stamp)

Kangaroo Love

This cute little Valentine is perfect for a little girl!

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  I used white cardstock for the card base.  I cut some dark pink polka dotted cardstock at 5 1/4"x4" for the mat.  The white scalloped heart is a Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  I added two pieces of fun pink ribbon under the left side of the heart.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  I colored in the heart and covered it with glossy accents.  The kangaroo is from Birthday Bash, cut at 3."  I added a little foam tape to her pocket to make it look like the little guy was really popping out.  I added glossy accnts to their eyes and noses.  The kangaroo is adhered with foam tape.

The heart balloons are part of the kangaroo cut.  I just cut three of them, one at 3," one at 2 1/2" and one at 3 1/2."  I gave each one of them a different Peachy Keen face.  I used some baker's twine to be the balloon's strings.  The smallest balloon is also adhered with foam tape.

I finished the inside of the card as well.  I cut some striped pink cardstock, the same type as I used for the balloons on the front, at 5 1/4"x4."  I cut some more dark pink cardstock at 3 7/8"x2 5/8" and some white cardstock at 3 1/2"x2 1/4."  The sentiment is from Fiskars.

Birthday Boy

This card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and I used kraft cardstock for the base.  I cut some green polka dotted cardstock at 5 1/4"x4," more kraft cardstock at 4 3/4"x3 1/4" and some green/blue plaid cardstock at 4 5/8"x3 1/8."  I used Cricut Craft Room to weld letters from Birthday Bash together to create the word "birthday."  They were cut at 3/4."  I used kraft cardstock for the shadow and some yellow striped cardstock for the regular font.  The letters "B" and "Y" are cut at 1 1/4."  I used Life's a Party for the soccer ball, which is cut at 1 1/2."  I used a thin foam adhesive to adhere all the letters to the card and thicker foam adhesive to adhere the soccer ball.  I added glossy accents to the black part of the soccer ball and finished off the front with some grey brads in the corners of the plaid mat.  All the patterned cardstock came from "The Kidlet Stack" by DCWV.

I also finished the inside of this card.  I cut more of the plaid cardstock at 5 1/4"x4."  I then cut more kraft cardstock at 4 1/4"x3" and some white cardstock at 4"x2 3/4."  I used a stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps for the sentiment.  It is stamped in midnight black ink by Tsukineko.

I made this for the following challenges:
  • 365 Cards: "Day 9" - use kraft cardstock for the card base and in some other fashion on your card
  • My Sheri Crafts: sports theme
  • Celebrate the Occasion: boy's birthday, must use blue (not a whole lot, but there is blue in the plaid)
  • The Friday Mashup: use different patterns and at least three colors of the color challenge (summer starfruit, island indigo, and sahara sand)
  • Stuck On U Sketches: switch a letter with a die cut

Purple Birthday Card

My cousin's birthday is coming up in a little over a week, so I decided to make her a birthday card and this is what I came up with:
I used Birthday Bash for the shaped card base.  I cut it at 5 1/4."  I then cut the layer, which is the white star.  I covered the star with some white glitter and adhered it to the card base.  I then cut two more stars.  One out of purple cardstock at 4 3/4" and another one out of white cardstock at 4 1/4."  I adhered the white star to the purple one, then adhered the purple one to the card with pop-dots.  The present is from Cricut American Alphabet, cut at 2 1/2."  I covered the white tag in glitter and added three purple pearls to the package.  The polka dotted cardstock is from the Nana's Nursery Baby Boy Stack by DCWV.  I used a Peachy Keen stamp for the "happy birthday" sentiment.  I stamped it on a strip of white cardstock and hand cut it into a banner.  I then adhered one end of it under the purple star.  I finished off the card with a little doodling around the edges, using a white gel pen.

Guest Designer on Fantabulous Cricut

Today I am honored to be a guest designer for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog! How exciting is that? I made a project for this week's "Challenge Me Monday." The challenge is "Yummy, Yummy" - make a project featuring summer dessert, ice cream, popsicle, fruit, etc.
I used the card feature on Birthday Bash to create this cute ice cream sundae shaped card. The card is cut at 5 1/2." I cut it out of white cardstock, then cut the regular version of the sundae in the shimmery pale green cardstock. I cut that piece twice and cut off just the dish of the second one. I ran the pink piece of cardstock through my Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirls folder to give the ice cream some texture. I used a snow marker on the whipped cream to give it a dimensional effect. I added the sprinkles and the cherry. I popped up the cherry and the second cut of the dish. I added glossy accents to the cherry, dish and red sprinkles. I added lime green Stickles to the green sprinkles and Liquid Pearls to the pink sprinkles. I used a stamp from Scrappy Moms for the sentiment, then used a circle punch to cut it out. I then used the tag feature on Birthday Bash to cut the scalloped circle at 1 3/4." I used pop-dots to adhere it to the card and then added a shiny red button. I htink it looks good enough to eat! Enjoy!!

Plumbing

My husband came in from the garage earlier today with a tool box and announced that he wanted me to make some labels for it. The box contains his plumbing supplies (or some of them at any rate) and he wanted it labeled so that he would know what is inside. I asked him where he wanted the labels and if he had any preferences for them. All he wanted was something on the top and one of the ends so that he can identify it quickly. Well, here is what I came up with:
This is my first time using vinyl. I have had a bunch of vinyl for a while, but have just never used it. I thought it would work a lot better than using paper and covering it with tape or something. I think it turned out really well, and even better...my husband thought it was awesome!
I used Birthday Bash for the word "plumbing," which I welded with my Gypsy, and Handy Man for the pipe wrench.

365 Cards Guest Designer: Final Week

This is my final week being the guest designer at 365 Cards. It has been a lot of fun and I hope you have enjoyed my creations using Pam's sketches.

This is my interpretation of sketch #54, this week's Super Sketchy Sunday sketch. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew that I wanted to create a tri-fold card. The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4" when it is all folded up. The smaller fold (on the left) is 2 1/2" wide and the larger flap (on the right) is 4" wide. I covered both flaps with the glittery pink cardstock, which is by Recollections. The pieces are cut 1/4" smaller than the flaps they are on. For the larger flap I also added some flocked zebra stripe paper. It is cut 1/4" smaller than the pink cardstock. The labels were cut using Elegant Edges. The three on the flap are cut at 2" and I used the regular and shadow features for them. The label that is coming off the lower right portion of the small flap is also from Elegant Edges. It is the "book" feature. It is the same label as the other ones and is cut at 2 1/4 (white layer) and 2 1/2" (black layer). I stamped my sentiment, which is from Scrappy Mom Stamps on the label and adhered it to the back of the flap. I then added some magenta Stickles around the edge of the white part of the label. I used Birthday Bash to cut out the "3" and "0" at 1 1/2." I then flocked them with some black flocking powder. The martini glass is from Cuttin' Up and cut at 2." I used pop-dots to adhere it to the card.

I am also entering this card in this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge.

Christmas Boxes

I had to wait to post these since they are gifts for my mom and brother. My mom checks my blog almost daily and didn't want to ruin the surprise. I used my Gypsy to size everything and all the patterned paper is from the Merry Christmas Stack by DCWV. The solid papers came from my stash.

These are three gift boxes I made for some small gifts that I gave to my mom and my brother. The pillow box is for a coffee gift card for my mom, as is the armadillo tree box. Inside, there is a small carved armadillo that I got her when I went to Belize, hence the armadillo on the front. The pillow box was cut from Wrap It Up at 6." I created a band to go around the box using a border from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge. It is cut at 1 1/4" and then wrapped around the box. My mug is cut from Everday Pop Up Cards at 3 1/2." The snowflake on the mug is from Winter Lace, cut at 1 1/4." I added some star dust Stickles on the steam and some lime green Stickles to the snowflake.

For the armadillo box I used the tree-shaped box on Tags, Bags, Boxes & More. The armadillo is from Birthday Bash, cut at 2." His eyes and nose are black pearls and I used a candy cane sticker to give him a little Christmas treat. I finished off the box with a shimmery red bow.

This little box is a gift for my brother. I got him a carved turtle when I was in Belize and this is the box I created for it. The box is from Wrap It Up. I cut the turtle at 2" from Four Legged Friends and his Santa hat is from Pooh and Friends, cut at 1."

Christmas Mouse Card & Tag

Here is a matching card and tag, featuring a Christmas mouse! The card is 5"x5" and I used white cardstock for the card base. I rounded the corners with a punch. The large green polka dots is cut at 4 3/4"x4 3/4" and I rounded its corners as well. I cut another piece of white cardstock at 4"x4" and some small green polka dotted paper at 3 3/4"x3 3/4" and rounded both of their corners. The mouse in the present was cut from Birthday Bash at 3." I used some white flocking on the mouse, candy apple glitter (Martha Stewart) on the package lid, diamond Stickles on the bow, x-mas red Stickles on his ear, black enamel on his nose and black pearls for his eyes. I used green microbeads for the dots on the present. After I had finished putting them on the present I was grabbing them to put away when I knocked the bottle of them over and my floor was covered in green microbeads!! I got them all cleaned up, but what mess it was! I don't tend to use microbead a lot and I think I may have figured out why. ;) The speech bubble was cut using George and Basic Shapes at 1 1/4." I stamped my sentiment, which is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, then pop-dotted it to the card.

I also made a matching tag for the card. It is cut from Winter Frolic. I used my Gypsy to hide the cuts on the inner part of the tag. I cut the tag from white cardstock and the large polka dotted green paper. The mouse is cut at 2 1/2." I flocked the mouse, added diamond Stickles to the bow, pearls for his eyes and black enamel for his nose. The tag is pretty simple, but I like how it complements the card.

Alligator

This is a 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card. I used a green patterned cardstock for the card base. I cut some black glittery cardstock 1/2" smaller and the white carsdstock 1/8" smaller than the black. The alligator is cut from Birthday Bash at 1 1/4." I used my Gypsy to hide all the cuts for the letters he is supposed to have on him. I used black pearls for the eyes and nose. I stamped the senitment in some purple ink and added three brads to finish it off.

Guest Designer at Cooking with Cricut!

I am so excited to be a guest designer at Cooking with Cricut! They are such a great challenge blog, with fun challenges and an awesome design team. I am honored to have been asked and I can't wait to show you what I came up with!

I am featuring the Campin' Critters cartridge. When this cartridge first came out I couldn't wait to get it. My husband and I love to camp and the images on it are so cute! For my first project I created a double layout showcasing some pictures of a trip we took to Valdez, AK with some friends of ours. The background paper is from Debbie Mumm. All the pictures are 3 1/2"x5" and I double matted them with red and blue cardstock. The mats are 1/8" larger than each layer. I used Campin' Critters for the moon, sun, bear and wolf. The moon and sun are cut at 3" and the bear at 3 1/2" and the wolf at 4." I embossed the dark blue layer on the moon with Swiss Dots, then used some flocking on the light blue portion of his hat. I added a light blue pearl and some orange Stickles on the star, then finished him off with some black enamel accents for his eyes. I used the black enamel accents on the eyes and nose of the bear and also pop-dotted him for some dimension. The sun has orange Stickles, glossy accents on the bugle and black enamel accents for his eyes. The wolf has glossy accents on the triangle and his nose, white flocking on his hat and black pearls for his eyes. The picnic table is from Camp Out, cut at 2 1/2" and the title is from Pooh Font Set, cut at 1 3/4." I used pop-dots on the title as well. The "dinner" and "breakfast" parts are from Cursive 101, cut at 1," and welded together with my Gypsy.

For my other project I created a birthday card. I actually made two of these, they are for my cousins. They are both born on the 30th of a month, so their golden birthdays are coming up. My mom requested a couple of cards for them. I decided to use one of my favorite cuts on Campin' Critters....bigfoot!

The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." The two patterned cardstocks are from The Guy Stack by DCWV. The tan piece of carstock is cut at 5 3/4"x4." The green plaid piece is 1/4" smaller. Bigfoot is cut at 3 1/2." I used Birthday Bash to cut the numbers at 1," which I then covered in gold Stickles. For the inside of the card I used the same green plaid and tan cardsocks. I used my computer to do the sentiment, then cut the paper to size. I covered the word "golden" with gold Stickles, I also drew gold Stickles around the edge of the tan cardstock.
