Perfect Sentiments: "Encourage Me with Ribbon"

Time for another challenge at The Perfect Sentiment! Here are this week's challenge details:
"Encourage Me with Ribbon"
The challenge: create a card with an encouraging sentiment
The twist: use some ribbon in your design
Here is the card I created for this challenge:
I used Cricut Craft Room and Everyday Pop-Up Cards to weld two airplane shadows together to create this fun shaped card. I then cut all the layers and adhered them all together. The patterned paper I used for the plane is from the Black Currant Stack by DCWV. I added some glossy accents to the windows of the plane. I used a stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps for my sentiment. This particular card actually went to a woman I know, so to make it even more girly I added a little ivory bow that I tied from some thin satin ribbon. I finished off the card by adding some doodling around the edges of the plane and around the windows.
Now check out what the rest of the design team came up with over at The Perfect Sentiment and then create your own card for the challenge. I can't wait to see what you create!

The Sky's the Limit

I have had a great weekend. My husband and I went up to Two Harbors, MN for the Two Harbors Kayak Festival. I participated in a clinic and got out paddling on Lake Superior for the first time! I was out there for a couple of hours and swells were about 2 feet, which is pretty tame for Superior, but more than I am used to. I didn't dump though, so I count it a success. However, I did get a nice sunburn because it was cloudy when I started and blazing sun by the time I got done. I have a nice pair of raccoon eyes from my sunglasses! Now I am back to work and back to crafting. Here is what I made today:
This card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used white cardstock for the base, then trimmed some brown cardstock 1/8" smaller and the striped patterned cardstock 1/8" smaller than that. I wrapped the striped cardstock with some honeydew twine from The Twinery. The hot air balloon is from Everyday Pop-Up Cards, cut at 3 1/4." I gave it a Peachy Keen face and adhered it to the card with foam tape. The clouds are from Create a Critter, cut at 1 1/4" and also with Peachy Keen faces. I used two stamps from Scrappy Moms for the sentiments, which are matted with cardstock, each layer 1/8" larger than the previous layer. I finished off the card with some star dust Stickles around the edges of the clouds. I think it would make a cute encouragement card or one for a graduation. Enjoy!

With This Ring

I used the sketch over at Stuck On U Sketches for the next layout in my friends' wedding album. I had already created this layout once, it was actually the first one I made for the album, but as I started working on the rest of the album the original layout just didn't work. So, I took this opportunity to remake it. The original layout can be seen here. Here is my new and improved layout, in my opinion at least. :)
I used the same photos and font. I also used the hibiscus, although in a different color. It is again a 12"x12" double layout and I used the sketch to create a double layout with it. The largest photo is 4"x6" and double matted with a shimmery coral cardstock and a glittery white cardstock. The two smallest photos are 2"x2," the larger hibiscus photo is 3 1/2"x4 1/2" and the two shell photos are 3 1/2"x5." All these photos are matted with the shimmery coral cardstock. I used foam adhesive to adhere the two smaller hibiscus photos. I used Cricut American Alphabet for the title. I used foam adhesive to adhere the word "ring" as well. I used French Manor to cut the circular rings. I then placed them around the photos in a circle. By doing this for both of the pages it looks like the top of heart. I added a set of wedding rings on the right-hand page. I cut those from Everday Pop-Up Cards. I also cut a hibiscus from Life is a Beach and added that to the left-hand page with foam adhesive. I added diamond Stickles to the word "ring" and to the diamond in the wedding ring. I also added glossy accents to the teal rings and to the bands of the wedding rings. It is a pretty simple one, but I really love the effect of it all. I like this one much better than the old layout. :) Enjoy!

Christmas Boxes

I had to wait to post these since they are gifts for my mom and brother. My mom checks my blog almost daily and didn't want to ruin the surprise. I used my Gypsy to size everything and all the patterned paper is from the Merry Christmas Stack by DCWV. The solid papers came from my stash.

These are three gift boxes I made for some small gifts that I gave to my mom and my brother. The pillow box is for a coffee gift card for my mom, as is the armadillo tree box. Inside, there is a small carved armadillo that I got her when I went to Belize, hence the armadillo on the front. The pillow box was cut from Wrap It Up at 6." I created a band to go around the box using a border from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge. It is cut at 1 1/4" and then wrapped around the box. My mug is cut from Everday Pop Up Cards at 3 1/2." The snowflake on the mug is from Winter Lace, cut at 1 1/4." I added some star dust Stickles on the steam and some lime green Stickles to the snowflake.

For the armadillo box I used the tree-shaped box on Tags, Bags, Boxes & More. The armadillo is from Birthday Bash, cut at 2." His eyes and nose are black pearls and I used a candy cane sticker to give him a little Christmas treat. I finished off the box with a shimmery red bow.

This little box is a gift for my brother. I got him a carved turtle when I was in Belize and this is the box I created for it. The box is from Wrap It Up. I cut the turtle at 2" from Four Legged Friends and his Santa hat is from Pooh and Friends, cut at 1."

Duckie Onesie

This cute little card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used an ivory cardstock for the card base, then cut some green cardstock 1/8" smaller. I then cut some bird patterned cardstock 1/8" smaller than the green cardstock. I cut a strip of green cardstock 4"x1 3/4" and some yellow cardstock at 4"x1 1/2." I used a Martha Stewart border punch on both pieces, then wrapped them with some yellow ribbon. I cut the onesie from Everday Pop-Up Cards at 3 1/2." I embossed the light yellow part of the onesie with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. The little duckie is cut from Baby Steps. It is actually the layer for the safety pin cut on that cartridge. It is cut at 2" which makes the duck about 1" real size. I covered the duckie in yellow glitter, added some glossy accents to the wing and beak and gave it a gem for an eye. I used pop-dots to adhere the onesie to the card. For the inside of the card I stamped both the sentiment and the little chick in yellow ink, then embossed them with clear embossing powder.

A Fat-Free Treat

Here is a fat-free treat for you. A great little paper cake! I used Tags, Bags, Boxes & More for the cake boxes. I cut them at 7" from a brown cardstock to seem like a chocolate cake. I pieced the boxes together then wrapped them with a white ribbon to make it seem like a vanilla filling. I used part of the box to create the fondant style "frosting." I then cut them out and used the Textile embossing folder. I used a scalloped border punch along the edge for an added effect. I used Mother's Day Boquet to create my flowers. They were cut at 1 1/2," 1 1/4," 1" and 3/4." I curled each piece and sprayed it with some shimmer mist. I also added a pearl into the center of each flower. I also added a butterfly to the center of my cake. I used Everyday Pop-Up Cards to cut the butterfly at 3." I cut two white layers for some stability, then sprayed it with some shimmer mist as well. I then cut out two of the pink layers. I then used some tutti fruity Glimmer Mist to spray the pink layers. I adhered one of the layers to the white part and I adhered only part of the second one and popped the wings up.

Elephant Baby Card

This is a quick and simple baby card I made today, but I think it turned out really cute! It is 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I made the card base from white cardstock. I then cut four strips of patterned cardstock at 4 1/2." Two of them are 1 1/8" wide and two are 1" wide. I adhered them to the card base, then wrapped it with a ribbon. I stamped my sentiment, using bamboo leaves ink by Tsukineko. The elephant is from Everyday Pop-Up Cards, cut at 2 1/2." One of the reasons I got this cartridge was because of this elephant image...I just love it!! I added some turquoise Stickles for his eye and glossy accents on the tusk to finish it all off.
