CAS Fishes

This card is super easy and super simple to create.

The card base is 4 1/2"x6 1/4" and made of light blue card stock.  I then created a stencil using Cricut Design Space.  I used a 3 1/2" square, turned on its side, and attached some fish from the "Best of Pixar" Cricut cartridge.  I inked it in with aegean blue ink by Tsukineko.  The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom, the Fish On stamp set.

I made this for the following challenges:
CASology: cue word - stencil
Less is More: one layer card and at sea theme

May the Force Be With You

In honor of May the 4th, I decided to do some Star Wars crafts.  I know that I am eking it out a bit on timing, but I had to do some studying this morning and only got to crafting in the afternoon.  And the t-shirt took a while to dry.

I found a super cool image of Kylo Ren from a side view and turned it into a cut file.  I then cut it out at about 14" tall from freezer paper.  I used that as a stencil and ironed it on to a black t-shirt.  I then used grey fabric paint to paint the shirt.  It looks more white in the photo, but the light wasn't great.

I then made a cute birthday card featuring BB-8.  The card is the Trapezoid Card Base from SVG Cutting Files.  The sand is from the "Best of Pixar" Disney Cricut cartridge.  I inked all the edges with vintage photo Distress Ink, then popped up the front layer.  I also trimmed the edges to fit the curve of the card.  BB-8 is an svg that I got from Krafty Nook.  Doesn't he look awesome?!  I used foam tape on his head for a little more dimension.

The sentiment is from the Robotastic stamp set by Jaded Blossom.

Nemo & Bloat

I made two cards today.  Both follow the same sketch, they just vary in color and image.

The cards are 5 1/2"x4 1/4," and made of white card stock.  The orange and yellow mats are 4 1/2"x3 1/4."  I then cut at piece of white card stock at 3 1/8"x3 1/8" and then some wave patterned paper at 3"x3."  The banners are from "Bits and Pieces," and I curled the ends up.  The circular border is from "Holiday Cakes."  Both Nemo and Bloat are from the "Best of Pixar" cartridge.  Both sentiments are from the Fish On stamp set by Jaded Blossom.  I finished off the cards with teal enamel dots.

Baby Boo

Well, I have been absent a while.  I am back in school and between that and work I don't have a whole lot of free time.  And lately, what free time I have has gone towards working on my quilt.  Well, now the quilt is all set and waiting to go to the quilter, so I have some time to work on some paper crafts.

Here is what I made today:

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  I used white card stock for the base, then trimmed some purple card stock at 5 1/2"x3 3/4."  The pink plaid is cut at 5 1/2"x3 1/4."  I wrapped the top of the card with some orchid twine from The Twinery and added some yellow and ivory sequins.

The adorable image is of Boo, from "Monsters, Inc."  She can be found on the "Best of Pixar" cartridge.  I used the print and cut feature on her so I wouldn't have to glue down all those little pieces.  I love that feature!  She was cut at 3."  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches, the Salutations set.

I made this for the following challenges:
BBTB2: new baby

Tuesday Throwdown: monster mash

Shell-ebrate with Squirt

This card is 5"x7."  I used black card stock for the card base, then cut a white mat at 4 7/8"x6 7/8" and the patterned mat at 4 3/4"x6 3/4."

The bubble in the background is from the "Best of Pixar" cartridge.  It is cut at 4" (real dial size) and can be found on page 24 of the handbook, using the icon layer feature.  I sprayed the bubble with some sparkle shimmer mist before adhering it to the card.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches, the "Party Posse" set.  I stamped it on white card stock, then cut it in a banner shape.  I then adhered it to some black card stock and cut that to outline the banner.

My sea turtle is Squirt from "Finding Nemo."  I used the "Best of Pixar" cartridge for him as well.  He is on page 32 of the handbook and I cut him at 3."  I covered his eyes and tongue in glossy accents, his shell in crackle accents and the flower of his shell have orange glitter on them.  I adhered him to the card with some foam tape.  I finished off the front of the card with three glittery teal brads in the upper corner.

The white mat on the inside of the card is 4 7/8"x6 7/8" and the patterned mat is 4 3/4"x6 3/4."  I then cut two more bubbles (page 24 of the "Best of Pixar" handbook) but this time just the solid part.  The black one is 4 1/2" and the white one is 4 1/4."  I then used some stamps from the "Birthday Sampler" set by Paper Smooches for the sentiment.

I made this card for the following challenges:
BBTB2: alter a Cricut cut (glossy & crackle accents, glitter, & shimmer mist)
Fantabulous Cricut: make a card for your stash (because you can never have enough birthday cards)
Scrappy Moms Stamps: animal project

A Bit of Randomness

As most of you know by now, I work at a JoAnn Fabric and Crafts store.  Well, JoAnns' stores host, what we call, "Make & Take" events.  This is where people can come in to their local JoAnn store and create a free craft to take home with them.  Lately these "Make & Takes" have been revolving around Disney.  We did a Tinkerbell one when one of her movies was being released on DVD.  Then we did one when "The Little Mermaid" got re-released.  For our next "Make & Take" we will be making a craft to go with the release of "Monsters University" on DVD.  My store manager wanted to try and get people interested in coming to this one since a lot of the "Make & Takes" we do seem to be sparsely attended.  In order to do this we made a little table display of the what the "Make & Take" will be with fliers on it for people to grab with the date and time.  She had me actually create the craft so we could actually display the finished product.  Well, this is it:
We will be making our very own Mike Wazowski!

Since it is on a stick it didn't display very nicely just laying on the table.  I thought it would be nice to stick it in some Styrofoam in a pretty container.  I covered a small round box with some white card stock, then used the "Best of Pixar" cartridge to create my images.

The black monster silhouette is found on page 54, using the icon feature.  I cut it at 3 1/2" and wrapped it around the box.

I then cut the "Monsters Inc." logo.  It is cut at 2" (real dial size).  It is found on page 41 and is also the icon and icon layer features.

My paper Mike is found on page 46 and is cut at 3 1/2."

Sully is on page 42 and is cut at 5."

I also made a little table card to go with the display.  The card is 2"x5," when folded.  I made it from blue card stock, then cut a piece of white card stock at 1 7/8"x4 7/8."  I used my computer to generate the sentiment.  The Mike I used for the card is on page 45 and is 3" tall.

If you are interested in making your own little Mike Wazowski puppet, then stop on by your local JoAnn Fabric & Crafts store on October 20th (check your local store for times).
