Thinking of You Cards

I was flipping through a book of cardmaking that I have and was inspired by a couple of the cards. I made my own versions based on those cards and I thought I would share them today.
This was my first inspiration card. I really loved the buttons and wanted to make my own version. I did not like the pink though, so I went another way with it. Here is my take on the card:
My card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2" and made of ivory cardstock. The patterned cardstock is 4"x5 1/4" and I wrapped it with three layers of sheer ribbon. Each piece of ribbon is only adhered at the top so that the bottom of each layer is loose, which gives it a soft look. I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed it with a dark red embossing powder. I then added my buttons with glue dots.
This is my second inspiration card. I loved the look of the offset flower. Most cards put the image directly in the middle, but I thought this look was quite effective and I wanted to replicate that. However, I made my card using much brighter colors. This is my take on the card:
This card is also 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I used a dark pink cardstock for the card base. I used a double mat on this one, each layer 1/8" smaller than the previous. The first mat is a dark shimmery green and the next is the striped paper, which is actually a diagonal stripe that I cut to use vertically. My flower is from Serenade, cut at 4," and the stem is from Walk in My Garden, cut at 4 1/2." I placed the flower to the side and trimmed off the edge, then added a button, tied with some white twine, to the middle of the flower. I finished off the card with my sentiment, stamped in a dark green ink.

Blue Butterfly

Here is another Mother's Day card! I made this one 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I decided to go with a rather monochromatic look using blues, although I added some white as well. The background is stamped twice, in two different colors, and slightly layered. I thought it gave it a nice effect. The butterfly is cut at 3." I used some foam adhesive to pop-up its wings. I added glossy accents to the body and Stickles to the wings for a little more texture. The label for the sentiment is cut at 2 1/4." I stamped my sentiment and added some small white pearls to finish it off. Enjoy!
Supplies used:
  • Paper: The Paper Company
  • Stamps: Scrappy Moms Stamps - sentiment, Inkadinkadoo - background swirl
  • Ink: Tsukineko - mediterranean blue, moonlight white
  • Stickles - dark blue
  • Pearls
  • Cricut cartridges: Serenade - butterfly, Elegant Edges - label
  • Glossy Accents

Butterflies

This card is 5"x7." I used a dark pink cardstock for the card base. I then cut some shimmery white cardstock 1/8" smaller and mounted it to the card base. The patterned squares are a cardstock sheet from the Flower Shower Stack by DCWV. I cut out six of them to create a rectangle of 4"x6." Three of the sqares had flowers in the middle, the other three were just patterned. I cut out three butterflies from Serenade, all at 1 3/4." I then adhered them to the middle of the patterned sqares. I cut some glittery green cardstock 1/8" larger than the patterned rectangle and adhered that all down to the card base. The sentiment is cut from Beyond Birthdays at 1." I adhered it to the bottom of the card base and covered it in mystic green Stickles to finish it off. This card was made for the following challenges:

  • 365 Cards: "Up in the Air" - incorporate 3 things you might find up in the air on your card

  • BBTB2: Mother's Day 2010 cartridge, specifically one of the sayings (I don't own this cartrigde so I used Beyond Birthdays)

  • Clean & Simple: sketch #134

  • My Sheri Crafts: "April Showers" - I couldn't help thinking of "May flowers" and springtime with this theme, so that's what I went with :)

Happy Anniversary

This is a 4 1/4"x5 1/2" card. I used kraft cardstock for the card base. I then cut a 4" sqaure of dark brown cardstock, which I then embossed with the Script Texture embossing folder. I wrapped the card with a light blue ribbon. I cut three 1" circles and mounted them on the bottom of the card. I then stamped the sentiment, which is from My Pink Stamper, in jumbo java ink by Tsukineko. I cut a 2 1/2" circle from a light yellow cardstock. I then cut a flower from Serenade at 2 1/4." I used pop-dots to adhere it to the card for dimension. I then used some blue flat-backed pearls and some vintage photo Stickles to add some texture to the flower. A nice, sweet and simple anniversary card.
