Joy, Alaska

This layout is from a trip my mom, my husband, and I took when my mom was visiting us while we lived in Alaska.  We went with a tour group up to the Arctic Circle and on the way we stopped in this tiny little town called Joy, Alaska.

This double layout is 12"x12."  The background paper has a woodgrain pattern to it and I just love it!!  I used Extreme Fonts for the title and the text for my little "sign."  I created the "sign" to read exactly what the actual sign on the door of the general store said.  I thought it was hilarious....and very true.

The mountains are from Paper Doll Dress Up and the trees from Plantin Schoolbook.

The bears are from Campin' Critters and my journaling spot was created from Elegant Edges.
For the sign, I cut my text out of the green cardstock and matted it with brown cardstock, using the negative images.  I thought it was a pretty cool look.

I added black enamel to the noses of the bears, gave them black pearl eyes and added some yellow Stickles to the badge of the ranger bear.  I also added white enamel to be the "snow" on the mountains and I inked up the forest.  The forest and both bears are adhered with foam tape.  The "sign" is held up with two brads.

Chrsitmas Cards

I have been lax in posting on my blog recently. However, I have been quite busy. I've been driving for about a week, with a four day break in Washington for a wedding and visiting friends and family. I have been back in Minnesota, staying with my in-laws, for about three days now. My husband and I will be looking for a place to live next week. The rest of our household goods should also be coming in next week. I can't wait to get my Cricut unpacked and to start creating again. In the meantime, here are some more Christmas cards of mine.
These two cards are using the two cartridges that come with the Cricut Expresssion. The first one is using Plantin Schoolbook. I made it a long card and cut the forest to fit the length. The reed and white stripe at the top was cut using my straight paper cutter. The stars and sentiment are stickers and I added some Stickles to one of the trees.
This card is from Accent Essentials. The card is 6"x6" square. I used some snowy looking paper for the background. I found some soild paper in my stash that were the perfect colors to add as an accent and some ribbon in my stash that mimicked the falling snow look. The snowflake was cut from Accent Essentials. I used a stamp from my stash to finish it off. I like how this one doesn't use any traditional colors, but just really feels like winter.

Arizona Scrapbook Pages

I have been working on scrapbooking a trip I took to Arizona in 2008. I know it has been a while since the trip, but better late than never! I still have some more to go, but these particular pages are from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. I used the sketch from Papercraft Star for their layout. I turned the sketch on its side to make it work for me. The pictures on the page are just some landscape shots I took in the museum. I didn't do any journaling on the page until after I took my pictures, oops! I used Old West for the cacti, snake and rock and Plantin Schoolbook for the title.
