Display Board with 3D Flowers

The Associate Minister for Pastoral Care at our church is retiring (she is over ninety and it is time for a little rest!).   At coffee hour this Sunday, there will be a reception and a chance for members of the congregation to leave sticky notes with messages and good wishes for her on the display board I made yesterday.

I needed to get this together quickly since on Friday I will be leaving to take my son back to college. I was lucky to find science project display boards in many colors at Michael's - I thought this yellow was bright and cheery for what could be a dull January day.

The leafy branches are from Storybook and the flowers are from Walk in My Garden - cut in two colors and two sizes and layered with yellow circle centers.  I bent the petals up a bit before I put them together.

Just a quick post to show you something different that I did with my bug!  I think it will be bright and cheery for the retirement celebration.

Another "Girly" Frame for Friends

So now that I figured out how to do this type of frame which is actually two frames plus "fillers" ideas for new ones keep popping into my head. This is actually the frame I had started when I ran into difficulties with the George rectangles so I changed them all out to Plantin Schoolbook rectangles and was able to avoid the dreaded "red X" screen.

Here is the cut right off the mat - once again be sure to keep track of those pesky little dots for the letter "i".

So...it could be used this way but I thought I'd try to "fancy it up" a bit more - this time by cutting extras of some of the elements to add on top. I set the file up with the frame on the first page and the extra bits on the next three pages.

Here is a screen shot of pages 2, 3 and 4 in preview

You can load the mat with one 4 x 6 piece of paper for the "friends" words and two 4 x 4 pieces of paper for the flowers - be sure to position them as show on the screen - here is a photo of the way I placed them on the mat.

Once you load this mat you can then just cut pages 2, 3 and 4 without removing the mat from the machine - the software will take the blade to the correct area of the mat each time.

You could go crazy adding gems, stickles (glitter) and extra paper flowers (from this file or Primas) - If you cut this file and "bling"" it for your photo, I'd love to see a picture of it! Thanks.
