A Great Freecycle Find!

Happy Friday!  I hope you have some nice plans for the weekend - it's hard to believe that summer is nearly over.  We have been enjoying the slightly cooler weather.   The days are getting shorter and there have been some beautiful evening skies over our neighborhood.

I was out and about on Thursday - checking out another scrapbook store from the shop hop and doing the usual errands.  I did get some time to do more organizing in my craft room(s) and I stumbled on to a very lucky find.  When our son was getting ready to move to an apartment this spring, I discovered Freecycle.org.

Here is the description from the website.

The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 5,057 groups with 9,061,088 members around the world. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers (them's good people). Membership is free.

I signed up on our local list which is run through a Yahoo group.  It is fun to see the sorts of things that are offered - everything from old National Geographics to baby clothes.  Today an email came through with a bookshelf described as "nine segment."  That caught my eye and I checked out the photo on the group page (there isn't always a photo but it is helpful when there is one to give you a better idea of the offer).

As soon as I saw this photo on the website, I rushed to answer the offering message.  I could see that this would be a fabulous solution for storing my ever-expanding paper collection.

After a few messages back and forth, I arranged to pick up the bookcase in a neighboring town.  It is now in my garage, waiting for me to rearrange some other pieces of furniture - my project for the weekend!  After I took this photo, I brought one of my Iris plastic 12 x 12 paper cases out to the garage and it was a perfect fit!  I am so excited to have discovered a great (free!) solution for my "paper problem" and very motivated to finish the never ending reorganization of my space.

I have lots of things around the house that I can list and pass along to someone who can use them.  I think it is a great solution for finding new homes for good objects that you no longer need.  If you haven't heard of this organization, it would be worth checking to see if there is a group in your area.

No project photos to share today - I have some more things finished but didn't have time to edit the photos for posting.   I did take a photo of the wonderful tricolore salad (fresh tomato, basil from the garden and fresh mozzarella with olive oil and balsamic vinegar) we had for dinner.  It was delicious!

Have a great weekend!

Happy July!  Creative Memories is celebrating their 25th birthday this month.  They have lots of special things planned and some great opportunities to save.  There is a 25% off sale on their top 25 picks which runs from July 1 - 25th. Click HERE to go to the sale page and click HERE to read more about the Birthday Bash.

Here are the first 14 items that are on sale (please click on the image to make the photo larger).

These are the rest of the sale items.  Both the Memory Manager and the StoryBook Creator programs are on sale.  There is an updated version of Memory Manager coming soon, so the price is $19.95 for the full 3.0 version and $5.95 for the upgrade from 2.0 to 3.0 starting today.  This price will continue until the new 4.0 version of Memory Manager is available.  I don't know yet what the price will be for the 4.0 Program or the upgrade from 3.0 to 4.0, but I will let you know as soon as that information is available.

Memory Manager is the program I use to do all of my photo editing and organization.   StoryBook Creator is the digital scrapping (and so much more) creative program.  I have worked with both of the programs for years now and they just keep getting better and better.

All of the digital artwork - papers, embellishments and templates  is 30% off until July 25th (both downloads and CDs).  Click HERE to go to the Digital Sale page

To celebrate reaching the goal of over 2500 parties booked for July 1 - 15th, Creative Memories is offering this free set of celebration embellishments in both StoryBook and Universal formats on their Facebook page.  Please "like" their page HERE to find the links for this fun set of 42 images and words (I used only this set to make the page at the top of this post).  You'll find the links in a post on the Facebook page dated June 27th You can get a free 30 day trial version of Storybook Creator 4.0 by clicking HERE.

During the month of July, you can also join the Rewards Club for $25 - a savings of $14 from the usual price of $39.  When you join, you receive and immediate credit of $10 and then earn a club credit of 15% of the retail amount of each order you make.  Click HERE to go to the Rewards Club page.

If you do not have a local Creative Memories consultant, I would be happy to help you with any questions.  You can shop on my Creative Memories personal website and have your order delivered directly to your address.

I have been working on a big project - "rescuing" photos and memorabilia from some old "magnetic" albums.  If you have any treasured photos or papers in an old album of this type, you should remove them as soon as you can to avoid further deterioration caused by the adhesives and plastics that were used for the books.

What are your plans for the Fourth?  Does your town or city put on a fireworks display?  We don't have fireworks in our town every year and usually stay home to watch the festivities at the Boston Pops concert on the Esplanade from the comfort of our couch!

Happy Canada Day to our neighbors to the North!

Just a little enabling...

The beginning of summer is a very busy time.  I have been off my usual schedule for posting lately - if you are an email subscriber, there may sometimes be two posts in one email.  I am also trying to get into a better sleeping schedule - after I read that not getting enough sleep can make you gain weight!  So, rather than stay up late to do a post for the next day, I have sometimes shifted to writing on the same day or evening.

There are a lot of sales going on now - here are a few that may be of interest...

Anna Griffin is having a Super Scrapbook Sale in her online store - here is a LINK to the store.  There is free US shipping and a free gift for orders over $50.  The sale lasts until Monday but some items are already sold out so if you love Anna Griffin's style, check it out!  The heart shaped acrylic albums that I gave away in my last blogoversary celebration (in the photo above) are $2.50 (regular price $15).

If you like Anna Griffin's style, you are probably also a fan of Webster's Pages.   If you don't spend all of your money at Anna's sale, you can buy this huge group of products in the Webster's Pages Warehouse sale starting Monday (while supplies last).  This photo from the Webster's Pages blog shows a great group of products that retail for a total of $129 - for just $25 - pretty irresistible!  Here is a LINK to the Webster's Pages website for the sale on Monday.  I am not sure what the shipping will be for this sale - you can find out on Monday.

The Nick Kelsh Photo Tips site that I told you about a while ago (HERE), has a special offer too.  Nick has written a book called How to be a Dad and has also made a DVD companion to the book.  There is a Father's Day special for a free subscription to the photo tips site when you purchase the How to be a Dad book and DVD set.  The price is $19.95 which is the usual subscription price for the Photo Tips site so if you are looking for a nice Father's Day gift for a new Dad - this could be it.  You can get all of the details HERE.

Ella Publishing Co. has some new photography related items for sale - the first is a new book by Rebecca Cooper about taking great photos of real life moments.

Real.Life.Photography eBook - how to take amazing photos in real-life situations

They also have a set of 8 Photoshop actions for Photoshop(PS) and Photoshop Elements (PSE) that are featured in the Real.Life.Photography. e-book.

Simple Fixes: Actions for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements

I use the Creative Memories software programs but I know a lot of people use Photoshop or Photoshop Elements so these Simple Fixes: Actions for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements may be helpful to you.

Photography Ideas Bundle, 3 complete eBooks for 1 low price

Ella Publishing has also bundled together three photography ebooks for a special price - get the  Photography Ideas Bundle with three books for the price of one!

Lettering Delights has hundreds of graphics, fonts, SVGs and cut-it sets on sale until Father's Day (sale ends at midnight on June 18th).  Most items are $1 with SVGs and cut-it sets at $2.  If you first "purchase" the monthly freebie, you will get a coupon for 25% off your next order with the freebie order confirmation.  Click HERE to go to the sale pages.

(I am an affiliate for Ella Publishing and Lettering Delights - I have no relationship with the other sites mentioned above).

It looks like we will have some nice weather for the weekend - I hope to go to the library book sale that was postponed from last weekend and then get our deck furniture set up - I think we may finally be done with the thick green pollen from the pine trees.

My days have been a little crazy and I have piles of almost finished projects that I need to photograph and then I can share what I have been up to.  I also have a few more of the projects form the Tim Holtz weekend to show you.

I hope you have a great weekend - we will be seeing an old friend from graduate school on Saturday and helping with a few more moving chores Sunday afternoon.
