I designed and cut this title using the Gypsy. The branch is from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge which is exclusive to the Gypsy but you could try substituting another branch from a different cartridge if you don't have a Gypsy.
This screen shot shows the branch I used. I used two branches sized to 6.21 inches wide and 2 inches tall. I rotated one of the branches 180 degrees and fit the two together.
The "Happy Halloween" is from the Lyrical Letters cartridge sized at 5.55 inches wide and 2 inches tall.
The two spiders are also from the Lyrical Letters cartridge and are sized at 1.47 inches wide and 2 inches tall.
This screen shot of the unwelded design in Design Studio shows how the elements are set up on the mat, The entire design is grouped and welded on the Gypsy and the overall dimensions are 11.56 inches wide and 3.45 inches high.
It seems that the "cuttable area" when using the Gypsy is slightly larger than in Design Studio (if you look carefully at this view of the title you can see that the tips of the branches are crossing the line in this Design Studio screen shot).
I tried making a similar design using a branch from the Wild Card cartridge - I have not tried cutting this variation yet.
This screen shot shows the branch I used for this variation on the title.
Here is the cut on the mat after the background paper has been lifted. You need to be very careful in removing the welded section - the spiders are particularly delicate.
When you remove the cut from the mat the "yHal" will stay on the mat since it is designed to be cut separately.
Here you can see the design after both pieces were removed from the mat.
You just need to adhere the "yHal" into the proper position- it is very easy to align with the rest of the letters.
I hope you can figure out how to duplicate this title on a Gypsy - we are all hoping that there will soon be an update to allow files to be moved from the Gypsy to the computer and shared just like Design Studio files.
I have been taking it easy and I think I am starting to get the better of this cold - I stayed warm and cozy inside and watched in amazement as the snow fell today!
A few blog housekeeping notes - I still have not been able to figure out why some people were receiving emails where the text and pictures overlapped. If this is happening for you, you can always click on the title and go directly to the blog to read the post. The problem must be related to various email and internet providers not reacting properly to the Feedburner emails. I have only heard about this from a handful of over 1,000 subscribers and I can't find a common reason for these people - the email accounts are not all from a certain provider and no one has given me more details about the browser or computer system they are using.
I also had a reader ask if I could modify the daily emails so that the title of the post would show as the subject. I did find a way to do this and it seems to have worked - but then I noticed that a couple of people unsubscribed today and their notification emails said "${latestItemTitle}" which was the code I needed to insert to get the post title to be the email subject line. So...once again, I think it doesn't work for all situations. If you have had either of these problems and can provide more information, I will try to find a solution but you can always just click over to the blog to read what is new.
