Happy Happy Anniversary ...

What greater thing is there for two human souls, than to feel that they are joined for life — to strengthen each other in all labour, to rest on each other in all sorrow, to minister to each other in all pain, to be one with each other in silent unspeakable memories at the moment of the last parting? ~George Eliot (1819–1880), Adam Bede, 1859

Hi All,
Today I’m sharing an Anniversary card that I made for my daughter and son-in-law.

I really like how this card looks in real life. Since I used a beautiful shimmery type cardstock, I had a lot of challenges trying to photograph. I just did the best I could.

This card was inspired by this card I found HERE on hmadeboutique.com

This is another card that I do not have a supply list for because it appears I threw it away along with several others during a cleaning frenzy. I’ve tried to remember what I can but I’m sure I’ll miss something.

Supplies
  • Cardstock from Stampin Up!
  • Die from Stampin Up!
  • India Ink from Memories
  • Sentiment ftom Unity Stamps
  • Shimmer paper from The Paper Temptress
  • Tag punch from Stampin Up!
  • Vellum scrap

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Stick Pins

Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
- 1 John 4:11-12

Good morning!
Today is the start of a new “Crash your Stash” challenge at The Outlawz Challenges

The purpose of this Challenge is to encourage you to use those items that are no longer trending and probably stashed away in a drawer. Forgotten and alone. So, we are here to help inspire you to dig those lovely items out and bring them new life!
At the start of the challenge, we will tell you what item we want you to pull from your stash and use and you will have a whole month to find, dust off and create something lovely with the item!
That simple!
And to make it better, We Are 3 Digital Shop is generously sponsoring us so everyone month, someone will win a lovely prize!
Our item for this month is Stick Pins … There was a time these were all the rage so many of you may still have these stuck in a drawer somewhere. Dig them out and come play along with us!

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Stick pin from my stash
  • Cardstock from Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from my scrap bin
  • India Ink from Memories
  • Sentiment from Studio 118
  • Pearls from Recollections
  • Butterfly embellishment, a gift from a friend
Layout is based on a card from Mary Danson which I found on Pinterest. It appears her blog is no longer active, but here is the card I cased.

My Heart ...

My heart to you is given, Oh, do give yours to me;
We'll lock them up together, And throw away the key.
~Frederick Saunders

Good morning!
A new Sunday Song & Rhyme challenge is in process at The Outlawz Challenges. Each week we will give you a theme based on a song or a rhyme along with a bit of the lyrics/lines with which to take inspiration from to create a card/project! You can also look on-line to get more information about the Song/Rhyme.

This week’s inspiration comes from a song selected by Lynn: Don't go breaking my Heart

Don't go breaking my heart
I couldn't if I tried
Honey if I get restless
Baby you're not that kind
Don't go breaking my heart
You take the weight off me
Honey when you knock on my door
I gave you my key

I used as my inspiration the heart and key. I have not added a sentiment to the front yet as I am still deciding which one of several I want to use. The key was die-cut from a nice dulled silver card stock and I created a backing for the the heart using the same cardstock. The key was added to the card front with some dimensional foam.

My 5 x 7 card is based on this card I found on Pinterest from Janbcards.com

Supplies
  • Card Candy from Close to My Heart
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from Darice
  • Dies: Banners from Stampin Up!, Classic Circles from Sizzix, Love Locket from Spellbinders
  • Silver cardstock from scrap bin
So, remember to stop by The Outlawz Challenges where a new challenge starts every day of the week!

Happy Birthday Honey ...

Birthdays! What music in the world! In these unresting times, when nothing intellectual, economic, social, political, seems stable; when customs and traditions hoary with age are mixed with explosive elements, this oldest of institutions is not in danger of yielding to destructive forces. ~J.R. Macduff, Birthdays, 1893

Good morning!
Today I am sharing the card I made for my husband’s birthday which we celebrated a couple days ago…

I decided to play around with my very small collection of alcohol inks. First, I adhered some aluminum foil to a piece of card stock. Then played around with the inks, a straw and spray bottle of alcohol. Once I was satisfied with the way it looked and the ink was dry I ran it through my Big Kick in an embossing folder (note: Just because you think it is dry, might wanna hit it with the heat gun a few seconds to make sure – or you can clean up your folder with a cotton ball and alcohol).

The layout is based on a card I found on Pinterest from ceciliacards.blogspot.au

Supplies:Adirondack Alcohol Inks from Ranger/TH
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Card stock (base) from the Paper Studio
  • Card stock from Stampin Up!
  • Design Paper Unknown (found at local flea market)
  • Die “Ornate Labels” from Sizzix
  • Die “Stitched Banners” from Gina Marie Designs
  • Embossing folder “Blister” from Spellbinders

It was perfect!

With Sympathy

“Perhaps they are not stars,
but rather openings in heaven
where the love of our lost ones
pours through and shines down upon us
to let us know they are happy.”
~ Eskimo Proverb

Good afternoon Everyone ...
Bit of a late post today but I was recently able to adjust my work schedule to a more practical time frame and now I am trying to get caught up on everything that has been pushed to the wayside over the last 7 months!
I feel like I can breathe now - LOL ...

Anyway, I made this card for a fellow co-worker of my husband whose father recently passed on.
I just purchased the image stamp earlier in the day. Funny thing is wasn't going to buy it but somehow it found its way into my cart and home ... how does that happen?!!!

Divine intervention I guess because when it came to making the card, that stamp is the first thing I reached for!

The layout is based on a card by Debbie Hughes that I found on Pinterest. Her Blog is Lime Doodle Designs.
I used it before and love the sharp clean lines that it creates and thought is was perfect for the image.

Supplies:
Card stock from The Paper Studio
Banners were created with scraps of DP from Close to My Heart
Sentiment is from Stampin Up! "Close as a Memory"
Ink is India Ink from Memories
Image is called "Nesting Bird" from Stampendous.
Leaves colored with Copics
Bird colored with Smooch White Pearlized paint

TTCRD Anything goes with Little Claire - Penguin Hugs!

The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree:  the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.
Burton Hillis

Good morning my Crafty Peeps!
I trust, for my fellow Patriots, that your Thanksgivings were blessed with good food, family and friends and, if you ventured forth, you survived your adventures out there into Black Friday Land.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am not fond of crowds to begin with, so the increased pushing, shoving and general rudeness of the population on Black Friday is a great reason for me grab a cup of hot coffee and park my pajama clad butt in front of my laptop to do any shopping I deem necessary.

Either way, for the Malmrose Clan - the Christmas Holiday has officially begun with a tradition started when my kids were little. On Thanksgiving evening, after everyone is properly fooded and leftovers are stored for later foraging runs. We gather in front of the TV to watch "A Muppet Christmas Carol".

A wonderful rendition of the Charles Dickens Classic - only the Muppets play most of the characters. Gonzo the Great, narrating the movie as Mr. Dickens takes Rizzo the Rat and us, through the wondrous journey of Ebenzer Scrooge, played by the awesome Michael Caine, as he is guided by three ghosts sent to show him he needs to change his horrid, selfish ways or face dire consequences in the afterlife.

A fun movie with lots of laughter and, of course, a value lesson at the end about treating people (and Muppets) with dignity and respect.

This year, it was just my son and I sitting there to watch the movie. as my husband was working and my daughter is set to spend another Christmas in Japan. It was heartwarming to me that my son was willing to sit and watch the movie with me. Especially when he mentioned that, for him, it was part of our Thanksgiving tradition and marked the beginning of the Christmas season for our family.

So from my family to yours Happy Holidays and quoting Tiny Tim - "God Bless us Everyone!"

Now onto my card.
This week our Sponsor at Through the Craft Room Door is Little Clair

While I used a Digi, you can also purchase this image as a clear stamp.

Here's my card.
It is 5 x 7 and the layout is from a scrapbook page I found on Pinterest. Click HERE to see the page and website where it came from.
I colored the image with my Prisma color pencils (still learning how to shade and stuff).
Then I die cut the image out and attached it to my card front after lightly drawing a circle that I could use as a guide for the snowflakes.
All my snowflakes were from scrap papers.

SUPPLIES
Card stock from The Paper Studio & Stampin Up!
Prisma Color Pencils
Big Scalloped Ovals from Spellbinders
Ink from Stampin Up! (to shade around the image) & Copics (To color the sentiment)
Rhinestones from The Paper Studio
Pretty much everything else was from my box of Christmas Stash: The little poinsettias, the puff snowflakes, the cold beads and the red buttons.

Click HERE to come join in the fun!

Hope to see ya soon!

Cropping for the cause - Part 1

Good afternoon ... I am playing catch up again.
A couple of weeks ago some friends and I participated in "Cropping for the Cause" event.
The proceeds will benefit a group that puts together bags for women who have, or are preparing to undergo surgery for breast cancer.
I have never participated in a crop event like this one. I didn't get a lot accomplished, but I had a fantastic time, made some new friends and received some lovely gifts just for coming. My friend won the raffle for a coach purse!

I am so looking forward to this event next year!

Here are two of the cards I managed to make between all the chatter and laughter!

Halloween Cards - inspired by one seen on Pintrist!

SUPPLIES: Card stock (Stampin Up!), Design Paper (Unknown - apparently I cut the mfg strip off before recording in :o[ ), Sentiments (Martha Stewart), Honeycomb die (Paper Trey Ink), Embossing border (Cuttlebug - Anne Griffin Acanthus), Skull (Cuttlebug skull with embossing folding), Spider (gift from friend - but I think she used a MS punch), Googlie eyes & Rhinestones (Stash)
