One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in a living room where eight or ten people have just opened their Christmas presents. It should not be cleaned up too quickly. ~Andy Rooney (1919–2011)

Bohemian Winter

The sun was down behind the snow-covered hills across the ice, and chilly gusts swept through the trees. Fine snow was sifting from the loaded branches and riding the wind. ~Gerald Raftery (1905–1986), Gray Lance, 1950

Winter!

Author Unknown

I love Winter!  Winter is cold.

It's Christmas with sleds.

It's warm snuggly beds.

It's silver snowflakes.

It's skating on lakes.

It's snowmen that stand.

in a snowy white land.

It's blue jays that feed

on sunflower seeds.

It's angels that pose

in wintertime clothes.

It's a polka-dot sky.

It's winter. That's why...

I love winter.

Supplies used

  • Image “Bohemian Winter” printed onto Stampin Up! Whisper white card stock

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Washi Tape

There's something in a simple hug That always warms the heart,
It welcomes us back home And makes it easier to part....
~Johnny Ray Ryder, Jr., "A Simple Hug"

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges! Our Sponsor this month is Lee Holland Art and all I can say is that I am in love with her whimsical images so be sure to check out her shop!

Our cue this month is Washi Tape. Another one of those items which can be used to create quick and delightful cards or scrapbook pages but we seem to forget about it. Well I do!

For my card I used this image called Dragon with Flower … just one of quite a few images featuring this adorable little dragon! Because of all the colors I used in the flower bouquet I wanted to keep the card as simple as possible so I just used my variegated washi tape to create a diagonal design on the card front. I think added the image with a bit of foam to pop it up a tiny bit. I think it came out wonderfully!

Supplies:
  • Image printed on Stampin Up! Whisper White card stock
  • ProMarkers
  • Rhinestones from my stash
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Washi tape from Park Lane

Now come on over to The Outlawz Challenges to play along with us or one of the other challenges that are always in process!

Splinters anyone?

As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point your way. ~Author unknown, c.1948

Good morning!
Things have been quite hectic in my household these last couple of months so I thought the above quote was hilarious and appropo since here I am, once again late sharing my card for the new color challenge which started yesterday at The Outlawz Challenges!

Our sponsor this month is Fred She Said Designs

This week’s challenge gives you the choice of 3 colors from the lovely pallet below, chosen by team mate Jacqui, with a twist of adding an animal.

Because I can’t seem to keep track of my calendar I wound up not using a FSS image for my card this week. But I did used the 3 browns and added a horse. This

Supplies
  • Close to My Heart: Glitter tape, Pearls, Design paper (which already had the sentiment printed on it)
  • The Paper Studio: Card Stock

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to stop by The Outlawz Challenges where a new challenge starts every day of the week!

Washi Wishes!

The merry year is born
Like the bright berry from the naked thorn.
- Hartley Coleridge -

Happy New Year my Crafty Peeps!
I hope that 2015 is starting off awesomely for you all.
I will admit though that I am looking forward to getting back into some semblance of a routine after the hustle and bustle of the Holidays! To much unhealthy food and sleeping in late is taking it's toll on me!

I do try to not make New Year Resolutions, at least not unrealistic ones like being a size 8 by summer or learning a new language by October! The main reason is simply because I wind up feeling guilty and disappointed if I don't meet the expectations I set for myself.

So I set small goals, like getting up a little earlier than normal to re-start my work out program which always seems to go into hibernation during the Holidays! Weight loss and being fit is just a side benefit at this point.

Making better food choices - in this case, it's back to an almost Paleo diet for my husband and myself. We did it once before and felt amazing ... not sure why we stopped to be honest.

This year is also going to have decluttering added (in small bites) to the mix. Since we are talking about downsizing might as well start now and get rid of the stuff that I am so tired of dusting!

I hope, that whatever good and healthy path you choose that you are successful!

Today is another Clean and Simple Challenge at The Outlawz!
Such a popular craft item these days, Washi tape is used on everything from cards to cell phone covers!  Our challenge for you this week is to use Washi Tape on your card or project. Just keep it CAS!

Here is my card! Interesting enough though, Washi tape is not something that I have embraced. Not sure why. In fact, the only reason why I have the tape used here is that I purchased it while in Jaen thinking I would use on a Christmas card (which never happened!)

Supplies:
Card Stock from The Paper Studio
Sentiment from Stampin Up! (Set unknown)
Washi tape was purchased in Japan - mfgr unknown
DP from my scrap bin
India Ink from Memories

Do come play along with us!
