Day 6, Phoenix Paper Crafters Create Daily Challenge

Never miss an opportunity to make others happy, even if you have to leave them alone in order to do it. ~Author unknown

Today is day 6 of the Phoenix Paper Crafters Create Daily Challenge located HERE and I am playing along best I can this month.

Several years ago, I was given a bag of craft items and mixed in with the various items were about a dozen handmade cards that had seen better days, but they had potential!

For my project today, I pulled out a 6 x 6 square easel card that no matter what I tried, I just not could not figure out a way to make it usable so I just cut apart and used the pieces to make 2 cards. I still have some blue silk flowers and the rhinestone swirl on my desk waiting to be used on another card.

The Outlawz CAS: Hearts & Flowers

Life is too short to start your day with broken pieces of yesterday, it will definitely destroy your wonderful today and ruin your great tomorrow.

Today is the start of a new CAS challenge at The Outlawz.
We have had several changes on the team in the last month with the leaving of Charlene for other adventures and the arrival of Donna to take her place.
We also now have our very own monthly sponsor for the CAS challenge and this month it's (me!) Through the Craft Room Door with a 1 year subscription to the magazine!

Today is Cheri's turn to post and she has noted it's that time of year when we see lots of hearts and flowers around us. So our challenge this week is to include hearts and/or flowers on our project.
It does not have to be a Valentine card, but it does have to be CAS

Here is my card, which is a birthday card for a dear friend of mine.

Happy Birthday Laurel!

Supplies
The paper is washi paper my daughter sent me from Japan. It's used for origami.
Card stock from The Paper Studio
Leaves were cut from "Little Leaves" die from Stampin Up!
Border was cut from "Ironwork accents" from Spellbinders
Flowers were cut from "Moroccan accents" from Spellbinders
Sentiment from Hampton Arts
Pearl accents from The Paper Studio

Through The Craft Room Door: Anything Goes (Guess What?)

At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities. ~Jean Houston

Good morning!
I certainly hope that everyone is enjoying their day, or evening depending on what part of this wide world you inhabit!

I have to laugh at myself - while creating this post I kept thinking to myself that I need to make my narratives so much ... more ....
more interesting
more captivating
more of whatever it is that gets people excited to see that I've posted something

Some people just have a knack for writing in such a way that reading their work is something you look forward too and want more of. Mine, I think comes in waves (little tiny ones) and depends on my mood or what I'm up to at the time.

I like to think of myself as a creative personality but seriously - there are people out there that see something extraordinary in everything they look at and while I've lost track of how many times I've blurted out "Why didn't I think of that?!" I refuse to second place myself with these type of people. After all someone has to do all the dirty work for the rest of us to duplicate. Right?

I will admit that I do, on occasion, envy that strange and unusual talent, but I can't help but think that has to be exhausting - day in and day out! Frankly, sometimes I don't mind walking around clueless and seeing only dresses when I am looking for a dress!

Everyone has their place in this time and I believe mine is to be just be Me. So I'll guess I'll continue to waddle along doing my "Thang" and hopefully, I'll make someone laugh out loud today - even if it's just watching me wander along with a vague expression in the clothing department!

This is my card for the weekly

This week our sponsor is Oozak

Another DT friend made some flowers with some gorgeous centers. When I asked if she had purchased them, she told me she made them herself with beads and her trusty glue gun. So this was my first attempt when I put together some flower for a swap and I have to say I am pretty thrilled with how it turned out.

The background I created just playing around with a new stencil I'd received from a secret santa event I participated in. Fun - fun - fun

The card is 5 x 7

SUPPLIES: Sentiment (Studio G), Card stock (Stampin Up! & American Craft), Ink (Stampin Up! & Memories), "Bubbles" Stencil (Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous), The flower was made using a silk flower from the $1 store, beads and hot glue.

Looking forward seeing you there!

Flower Power!

Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1844

Hello there my crafty peeps
Recently I participated in an embellishment exchange at Paper Crafting Divas
Here is my contribution.
I made four different flowers using a combination of punch flowers, beads, buttons and brads.
I get my flowers by purchasing stems from the dollar store and taking them apart. Much cheaper than buying packets at the craft store and I have a lot of fun creating different flowers with them.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

Through the Craft Room Door Anything Goes Challenge

The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and
indescribable as the tints of morning or evening.
It is a little star dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched.

Daisies or Sweet Peas: The Outlawz Clean & Simple Challenge

Bright flowers, whose home is everywhere Bold in maternal nature's care And all the long year through the heir Of joy and sorrow, Methinks that there abides in thee Some concord with humanity, Given to no other flower I see The forest through.

Happy Sunday morning to one and all!
This week is my turn to post the CAS challenge at the Outlawz! I'm running a bit late but here it is!

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac "April's birth flower is the daisy which conveys innocence, loyal love, and purity. It is also a flower given between friends to keep a secret; the daisy means "I'll never tell."
The other April flower is the sweet pea. "Sweet peas signify blissful pleasure, but are also used to say good-bye."
April is a busy month for this gal as birthdays abound in our family so your challenge will be to create a BIRTHDAY card or project showcasing one of these lovely flowers. Your choice - Daisy or Sweet Pea - just have fun and keep it CAS

If you are not already a member of The Outlawz, membership is free.

My card!
Unless I can get them for a killer price, I will rarely purchase flowers that are packaged and sold for crafting because I think they are over priced. So when I need flowers, I will make a stop by the local dollar store and buy a stem and then deconstruct it. At the price, I get a lovely pile of flowers and leaves to play with.

That is where my daisy on this card came from. A dollar store stem. I added a little Prima paper flower and the pearl is from The Angel Company. I glued everything together then adhered to the card with a foam dimensional.

The Outlawz CAS Challenge: Two-fers!

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
—James 5:16

New Clean and Simple Challenge starts today at the Outlawz!
Click HERE to come play along with us!

This week is a little different in that Charlene wants us to create a CAS card or project
using 2 (two) of something. It can be anything: two images, 2 brads (or another of the same type of embellishment), 2 of the same things within your image . . . use your imagination.
Since an image + a sentiment DOES NOT count as 2 items this was quite the challenge for me as I kept finding myself trying add that 3rd element to balance my layout!

I managed to pull it off, but man did I work at this!

CARD SIZE: A2

SUPPLIES
Card stock from Stampin Up!

Red Flowers from Prima
Green Flowers, photo frames & rhinestones are from my stash

Poinsettias!

May the sun shine, all day long
everything go right, and nothing go wrong.
May those you love bring love back to you,
and may all the wishes you wish come true!
-Irish Blessing-

Good morning! Another beautiful day to celebrate being alive!
Today is also my turn to post the weekly challenge for The Outlawz Clean and Simple Challenge!

My birthday is this month so this weeks challenge is a card or project featuring Poinsettias! It is my favorite flower and derives it's name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant to the United States in 1825.

Here is the card I made for the challenge

SUPPLIES: The Paper Temptress (Cryogen White paper), Stampin Up! (Red card stock, ink and chalk),  Inkahootz! (Sentiment), Spellbinders die (Poinsettia), Stash (Gold seed beads)

Come check us out at The Outlawz Challenges
Maybe something will trigger your creative streak and you will play along with us.
