Kindness ...

That life is to my liking which is made up of little deeds, little sacrifices, little kindnesses. ~Birthday letter quoted in J.R. Macduff, Birthdays, 1893

Hi everyone! This month I am helping out with our Color Challenge at The Outlawz Challenges.

Our sponsor is Free Pretty Things For You - https://www.freeprettythingsforyou.com. Make sure you check them out as they have a wide array of free digital papers, tags and embellishments as well as some amazing sets you can purchase.

This challenge requires us to use a turquoise blue plus two color of choice and a twist we pick. Once again, I selected a lovely digital paper from FPTFY in shades of blue … hard to see in the picture but it does have turquoise in it as well as the darker blue and white. My twist is off the edge with the snowy butterfly. I picked up the turquoise with pearls on the butterfly’s body plus I pulled in a bit of the peach and yellow.

Supplies used

  • Digital snowflake papers from FPTFY printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base)
  • Memento Ink
  • Pearls from my stash
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamps
  • Shimmer paper from Neenah

Babycakesdnd: August Release 1

“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.”
~ Khalil Gibran
Good Morning!
Sandra has added 7 fun new digi images to her ETSY SHOP! This week I am using #3228 Party Mermaid

I really got a kick out of coloring this fun mermaid. The hardest part was trying to figure out what colors I wanted to use. I also wanted to try my hand at some sort of sunset background and while not perfect, I am pleased with the results.

Here is a close up of her tail where I added the clear wink of stella.

Supplies
Image printed on Stampin Up Whisper White Card Stock
Judikins: Paper Glaze; Memories: India Ink; ProMarkers; Sizzix: Embossing folder; Stampin Up!: Cardstock; Unknown: Kraft cardstock, Sentiment & Shell border die; Clear Wink of Stella

Bright and Sunny Days...

If we tarry a little while, we shall behold a sunset on the ocean,—a sight worth traversing a kingdom to see. How finely the sands glow in the amber light, what a beautiful purple gleams on the crests of the tiny waves! The colours have changed as if by the moving of a fairy wand—a happy union of fire and its great antagonist. ~Henry James Slack (1818–1896), The Ministry of the Beautiful, "Conversation II: Footsteps on the Sand," 1850

My time of year!

November gave her scented sprigs
Of Spruce and Larch and Pine...
~James Rigg, "The Progress of Queen Flora, Adorned by a Hundred Wild Flowers," Wild Flower Lyrics and Other Poems, 1897

Good morning my fair friends and followers,
Today is the first of November ... I know many people dislike the coming of autumn but I love it. I always have. I love the different shades of gold, copper, brown and yellow in the trees. Everything seems to hold a warmth that is lacking in the pastels of Spring and the brightness of Summer.
I don't know how else to explain it but this time of year sings to me and I feel myself relaxing into it.
(sigh)

Boo! ...

Hold on, man. We don't go anywhere with "scary," "spooky," "haunted," or "forbidden" in the title. ~From Scooby-Doo

Good morning Friends and Followers... I hope you are having a great week and are ready for all the little trick or treaters this weekend. I enjoy Halloween but not the scary stuff many of my friends seem to prefer.
I find no pleasure having the living daylights scared out of me and won't watch horror flicks, preferring to watch Hocus Pocus, Nightmare before Christmas or It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

I like Casper the Friendly Ghost, Wendy the Good Witch and Hot Stuff the Little Devil! LOL ...

Anyway, whatever type of Halloween you prefer, I hope you have a fun one!

Happy Birthday Mom!

“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world
someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.” ~ Tom Bodett

Good morning Everyone!
Today is my Mom's 79th Birthday!

This is the 5 x 7 card I made or her based on the sketch below using some of the goodies I received from my friend Sandra who lives in the Netherlands!
I distressed and inked the edges to give it a more vintage feel.

Pay attention to your dreams ...

Pay attention to your dreams — God's angels often speak directly to our hearts when we are asleep.
~Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994

Hi there!
Today is the start of a new CAS challenge at The Outlawz and it is my day to post.

December is my favorite time of year ... I love the lights and the music and all the fun decorations for the Holiday Season!

It's also my birthday this month and as long as I can remember, my mother has given me an Angel for my birthday.

They are a sweet reminder that I was born during a very special time and they truly fascinate me on every level. I just love them and they are all over my house, even when it is not Christmastime.
This week your challenge is to create a CAS card or project with an Angel or Angel Wings.

Can't wait to see what you create for us!

Here's is my card!

Outlawz Clean & Simple Challenge: To the Dogs!

The dog is a yes-animal, very popular with people who can't afford to keep a yes-man.
~Robertson Davies

Good morning!
Today is the start of another Clean & Simple Challenge at The Outlawz Challenge Blog.

This week it's my turn to post so lets get started!

Did you know that July is National Hot Dog Month?

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council estimates that over seven billion hot dogs will be eaten by Americans between Memorial Day and Labor Day. During the July 4th weekend alone (the biggest hot-dog holiday of the year), 155 million are "wolfed" down!

That's a lot of hot dogs!

My challenge for you this week is to create a card or project featuring a dog or dog related item!
Just keep it CAS and have fun!

My A2 Card features Snoopy at his best .... napping! The image from Stampendous is called "Snoopy at the Beach". I colored the image with Prisma Color pencils and OMS then I added Aleens Paper Glaze to his sunglasses!

Additional Supplies:
Card stock, Thought bubble (Photo Album Fun) & Sentiment (unknown set) from Stampin Up!
"Flames" Ef from Darice

Thanks for stopping by!
Your comments make me happy. And as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Cropping for the cause - Part 1

Good afternoon ... I am playing catch up again.
A couple of weeks ago some friends and I participated in "Cropping for the Cause" event.
The proceeds will benefit a group that puts together bags for women who have, or are preparing to undergo surgery for breast cancer.
I have never participated in a crop event like this one. I didn't get a lot accomplished, but I had a fantastic time, made some new friends and received some lovely gifts just for coming. My friend won the raffle for a coach purse!

I am so looking forward to this event next year!

Here are two of the cards I managed to make between all the chatter and laughter!

Halloween Cards - inspired by one seen on Pintrist!

SUPPLIES: Card stock (Stampin Up!), Design Paper (Unknown - apparently I cut the mfg strip off before recording in :o[ ), Sentiments (Martha Stewart), Honeycomb die (Paper Trey Ink), Embossing border (Cuttlebug - Anne Griffin Acanthus), Skull (Cuttlebug skull with embossing folding), Spider (gift from friend - but I think she used a MS punch), Googlie eyes & Rhinestones (Stash)

Life Unscripted ... Butterfly

5-12-13 Outlawz Clean & Simple Challenge - Guest Design Team Member Wk2

Happy Mothers Day!
I hope all you moms out there have a truly fantastic day!

This is also week 2 for me as a Guest Designer for The Outlaws Clean and Simple Challenge.
The theme this week is Butterflies.

I created this card using SU! Swallowtail butterfly.
Because the paper I choose to use is textured with some glitter the the ink did not fully transfer and I love the affect! I cut it out and attached to the card based leaving the wings free floating so they can be bent to look as though he is perched on the card. I stamped the body a second time, cut it out, blinged up with some glitter and attached with a foam dot for a more 3-d look.

The sentiment is from Hampton Arts and I added a touch of fine glitter.

Thanks for looking!
