The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Mulberry Paper

Beyond the East the sunrise, beyond the West the sea,
And East and West the wanderlust that will not let me be;
It works in me like madness, dear, to bid me say, good‑bye!
For the seas call and the stars call, and oh, the call of the sky.
~Gerald Gould, "Wanderlust," c. 1905

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Twine/Floss

Bring forth the raisins and the nuts—
To-night All-Hallow’s Spectre struts
Along the moonlit way...
~John Kendrick Bangs, "Hallowe’en," Echoes of Cheer, 1912

Good morning!
We have a new Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge going on! You can find us HERE! The challenges will run through November 14th so come play along.

Our sponsor this month is Sheepski Designs
The challenge for this month is to use Twine/Floss (no ribbon).

For my card I used Andrea’s adorable image Trick or Treat - no 228

I was a bit surprised to realized that I didn’t have a cobweb stencil so I had to improvise. I used a die from Sizzix which I cut from a stiff super heavyweight cardstock I have and used that to create the web effect on the card. Worked pretty well!

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Sponsor image printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Bakers twine from American Crafts
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base), American Craft and Stampin Up!
  • Clear pop of color from Scrapbook.com
  • Corner punch from Stampin Up!
  • Dies from Sizzix (Cobweb) (to create a stencil) and Whimsy Stamps (Bats & Bubbles)
  • Ink from Stampin up!

Crash your Stash: Chip board

After all the shattering discoveries of science and conclusions of philosophy, mankind has still to live with dignity amid hostile nature, and in the presence of an unknowable power, and mankind can only succeed in this tremendous feat by the exercise of faith and of that mutual goodwill which is based in sincerity and charity. ~Arnold Bennett (1867–1931)

Good morning!
Today we re-start Crash your Stash on our new blog home located HERE! The challenges will run through September 14th so come play along.

Our sponsor this month is Alex Serbia Designs with a $10.00 prize to her etsy shop!

The challenge for this month is to use chip board.

For my slim line card I used a fun floral image called Happy flowers.

The leaves are cut from some chipboard sheets that I have had forever. They already have a layer of card stock on them but I never think of using them ... until now.

I cut two sets of leaves using a Sizzix bigz die (Love these dies as they cut through practically anything). I then sponged one of the sets to darken the leaves for contrast.

Supplies for slimline card
  • Sponsor image Happy Flowers printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Banner punch from Stampin Up!
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base)
  • Chipboard for leaves, stash
  • Die from Sizzix (Leaves)
  • Ink from Stampin Up! & Tsukineko
  • ProMarkers
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamps

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Ribbon Slides

Spiritual age is determined by the acts which make the mornings and evenings of the soul, and not by the motions of the physical globe. The soul should have its own cycles and revolutions, presenting in turn every portion of its existence to the vivifying influence of the great source of light. ~Henry James Slack (1818–1896), The Ministry of the Beautiful, "Conversation IV: Spring-time on the Western Coast," 1850  [Lyulph speaking —tεᖇᖇ¡·g]

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Buttons

I guess we never get too old to do goofy stuff; we just get old enough to think we do. ~Leave It To Beaver, "Beaver's Rat," 1961, written by Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher [S4, E31, Ward Cleaver]

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through May 14th

Our sponsor this month is Polkadoodles with a prize voucher for 3 digital images

INSTAGRAM HASHTAGS
#POLKADOODLES, #POLKADOODLES_CRAFTERS

The challenge for this month is to use those buttons!

I have
So.
Many.
Buttons!

However, I just don’t really use them that much because to mail a card with buttons on them is getting ridiculously expensive. So, if I use them (which is rarely) It’s because I am making a specific card which will be hand delivered.

Some of my favorites though are clear one I got from Stampin Up so many years ago! I love them because I can glue bits of design paper to the back and I never have to worry about them matching my card colors. Which is what I did for this card. I just used a circle punch close to the size of the button so, in this case, no trimming required!

They are thick buttons though which means this card will have to be hand delivered.

Supplies for 5 x 7 card
  • Sponsor image Honeypie sweet bouquet printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Banner Punch from Stampin Up!
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Circle punches from Stampin Up!
  • Clear buttons from Stampin Up!
  • Design Paper from Catherin Pooler (Fleur)
  • Momento Ink
  • Pro Markers
  • Scrappers Floss from Karen Foster
  • Sentiment from BoBunny

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Spray Inks

To find someone who will love you for no reason, and to shower that person with reasons, that is the ultimate happiness. ~Robert Brault, rbrault.blogspot.com

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through April 14th

Our sponsor this month is Oddball Art with a prize of 3 images from her shop
https://www.etsy.com/shop/OddballArtCo

The challenge cue for this month is to use ink sprays!

We all have them! Those luscious ink sprays for multi media project. Using with stencils etc. I have quite the stash and rarely use them anymore. In fact, I need to soak the sprayers as the ink has dried up inside making them unusable as a spray on ink!

I created a fun bubbly background for my sweet seahorse image using a couple different colors from Tattered Angels and Tsukineko along with a bit of liquid silk.

Supplies
  • Image (Cute seahorse with glasses) from Oddball Art printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Card Candy from Jot/Dollar Tree
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stamping Up!
  • Design Paper from my Stash
  • Glimmer mist from Tatter Angels
  • Handmade paper from my stash
  • Ink from Momento
  • Liquid silk from Fun Stampers Journey
  • Nuvo clear drops
  • ProMarkers
  • Sentiment from (Seashore Sayings) JoyCraft
  • Stencil (Bubbly) from Taylored Expressions
  • Walmint Ink from Tsukineko

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Water Colors

My heart got to thumping. You can't reason with your heart; it has its own laws, and thumps about things which the intellect scorns. ~Mark Twain

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through March 14th

We have a new to us sponsor this month called Sublidoodle with a prize of $10 gift code to her Etsy shop … She has some super cute images so make sure to check it out HERE

The challenge for this month is to use watercolors.

I have several sets of watercolor pencils and crayons. For this image, I used the crayons and I’m not too happy with the outcome to be honest. I think they are getting old as they seemed a bit cloudy even after using lots of water.

The background is just some great design paper I found at Hobby Lobby and fell in love with!

Sublidoodle gave us a page of images which when combined create different flowers etc so I cut out the heart, some leaves and stems. Water colored them and then layered onto my card base.

Supplies (5 x 7 card)
  • Image from Sublidoodle printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Card stock from Pen & Gear (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from The Paper Studio
  • Die from Stampin Up! (Labels Collection)
  • Embossing folder from Stampin Up! (Subtle)
  • Liquid silk from Fun Stampers Journey (Sparkle)
  • Studio G Glitter glue
  • Water Color Crayons from Stampin Up!

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Flocking

When baby smiles in his sleep, an angel kisses him. ~Ouina (Cora L. V. Scott Richmond), given through her Medium "Water Lily," Ouina's Canoe, 1882

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through December 15th

Our generous Sponsor this month Oddball Art
Prize is a $10 gift code

Our cue this month is Flocking

Flocking. Something else I forget I have until a challenge comes up! Luckily enough, I have a box of tiny vials filled with this stuff that I bought so many years ago from The Oriental Trading Company so I don’t have a lot of money invested in something that literally sits in a drawer with my glitters.

I though about covering the whole image but realized I would also cover up the detailing for this sweet little lamb so I opted to flock highlines.

Supplies:
  • Image, No Drama Llama from Oddball art, printed on Hammermill Premium Cover Card Stock
  • Design Paper from Colorbok
  • Flocking powder from The Oriental Trading Company
  • ProMarkers
  • Sentiment from Inkahootz! (Out of business)

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Mesh

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other. ~Audrey Hepburn (1929–1993)

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through November 15th

Our generous Sponsor this month Anne Fenton Designs with a prize of 3 images from her blog.

Our cue this month is Mesh

I don’t have a lot of this stuff but I have enough of it to be annoying when I’m searching in my washi tape drawer. It really does add some great texture and dimension though. Which is probably why I still have a couple rolls laying around plus a few colored sheets.

I did overlay the lantern image on top of a lumber-y (is that a word?) background image to give it a bit of depth and interest. Plus, the colors would pull in from the cardstock and the mesh I chose to use.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 36th Wedding Anniversary this year! We’ve had our shares of ups and downs, ins and outs, but with the Grace of God we have managed to sort out what’s important, raise two fine human beings and not kill each other in the process! I think this card says it all!

I love him so much!

Supplies:

  • Image, Lantern printed on Hammermill Premium Cover card stock from Anne’s Digital Arts
  • Card gems from Cloud 9
  • Digi background from Touched by a Butterfly
  • Mesh from Stampin Up!
  • Momento Ink
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamp Company

From our Gnome to Yours ...

As long as we know in our hearts what Christmas ought to be, then Christmas is. ~Eric Sevareid (1912–1992)

Good morning!

We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through October 14th

Our generous Sponsor this month is Alex Syberia Design with a prize of a $15 gift card to the Etsy shop so please make sure you check out her images … they are stunning!

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/alexsyberia/
Instagram2 (my new account where I'm sharing my stamp designs): https://www.instagram.com/alexsyberiadesign/

Our cue this month is Embossing powder

I have quite a bit of this stuff and frankly, While I love the way it looks, I don’t use it a lot because it’s a pain to dig everything out, carefully heat the image then have to clean up all the straggling bits of powders that got blown everywhere.

It is great for these subtle hints of something on a card … like snowflakes.

This card was done using clear EP, then using a soft brush to add the background color, which will cause the snowflakes to pop once you wipe down with a soft tissue.

Supplies:
  1. Image, Christmas Gnomes Digi Slimline Card Panel Stamp
  2. Cardstock from Pen+Gear (Base) and Stampin Up!
  3. Embossing Powder from Stampin Up!
  4. Ink from Stampin Up!
  5. ProMarkers

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Felt

So we find, after all, that the things we thought small
Loom colossal above all the host;
That the best of God's gifts are the friends we can call
To our side when we need them the most.
~W. Dayton Wegefarth (1885–1973), "The Bright Things of Life"

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through September 14th

Our generous Sponsor this month is Wink Wink Ink with a prize of the two images used by the team
https://www.etsy.com/shop/WinkWinkInk

Our cue this month is Felt

I think many of us have those bits and pieces of felt from past or abandoned projects.

In my case, its actually a felt with a sticker back that I bought from the dollar store, then lost somewhere in my craft room and recently found when cleaning out a random drawer.

Felt die cuts wonderfully and works well for backgrounds and elements but dollar store felt is well … dollar-ish so while it cuts great, it does not hold up so well when trying to remove the paper back to reveal the sticky so to get around that I had to stick a piece to cardstock then die cut.

But I really am pleased with how this card turned out.

Supplies:

Pre-colored Free Spirit - Horse with Butterfly printable image printed on Stampin Up! whisper white card stock
Archival ink from Ranger
Card stock from The Paper Studio (Base) and scrap bin
Design paper from scrap bin
Die from Stampin Up!
Felt from Crafters Squares (The Dollar Tree)

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Corner Punches

What a snapshot is to your life, your life is to eternity, so wouldn't it be nice if eternity captured you smiling? ~Robert Brault, rbrault.blogspot.com

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through August 14, 2021

https://twitter.com/twinkle_lane
https://twinklelanedesigns.blog/

Our cue this month is Corner punches

We all have those small corner punches that we bought back in the day to add a little dressing to a layer or hold an image. Well now is the time to pull one out and rediscover how amazing they can be!

The punch I am using is an old EK success punch. I don’t even know if you can purchase this one anymore that’s how long I’ve had it. And it is probably one of my favorite corners as it always takes layers up another level without overpowering the layout or image used.

Supplies:

Image printed on Stampin Up! whisper white card stock
Card stock from The Paper Studio (Base) and Stampin Up!
Diamond glaze from Judikins
Embossing folders from Momenta & Stampin Up!
Pro Markers

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Twine

It's not about finding fun things to do. It's about finding someone in whose company, it's all fun. ~Robert Brault, rbrault.blogspot.com, 2018

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges and our Sponsor this month is Sheri West Designs with a prize of 2 images. This challenge will run through June 14th.

Our cue this month is Twine

I love the look of it on cards but it simply is not my first go to when I want something different for a card front. Needless to say I have a drawer full of twine that I need to make a concerted effort to use more!

For my card, the design paper I used is actually quite bright and I felt it overpowered my images. So using the same die set, only a smaller size, I cut a piece of vellum to overlay and tone it down just a bit.

I then threaded some alphabet beads onto my twine and wrapped around the cardstock a couple times before taping it down. This created a simple banner over the images.

Supplies:
  • Images printed on Stampin Up! whisper white card stock
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio
  • Design Paper unknown
  • Die from Spellbinders
  • Pro Markers
  • Punch from Stampin Up!
  • Ranger Archival Ink

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Craft foam

Cats have intercepted my footsteps at the ankle for so long that my gait, both at home and on tour, has been compared to that of a man wading through low surf. ~Roy Blount, Jr.

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges and our Sponsor this month is Sherry Wes Art with a prize of two images!

Our cue this month is Craft foam

I only have craft foam because I bought it at the dollar store years ago. These days I use it more for creating dimension on my cards that for anything else. But it cuts really well with dies (Tip: While thin dies do work, you have to work with the plate stack so you don’t damage your machine. I recommend the Sizzix bigz dies for die cutting as they are designed to cut through the thicker material.)

Supplies:
  • Image printed on Stampin Up! whisper white card stock
  • Bling from my stash
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio
  • Craft foam from The Dollar Tree
  • Die from Sizzix
  • Embossing folder from Carta Bella
  • Ink from Stampin Up!
  • Judikin diamond glaze
  • Pom pom from my stash (it was white. I rolled it around on a ink pad to color it)

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Charms

You know you have found love when you can't find your way back. ~Robert Brault, rbrault.blogspot.com

https://www.etsy.com/shop/OddballArtCo

https://www.oddballartco.com/

https://www.facebook.com/oddballartco

Our cue this month is charms.

I actually purged quite a few charms I had … there were just so many so I gifted them on to someone else. But I do still have some and rarely use them even though they are a nice little touch to a card,

I loved using this fun image from Lizzy .. I really like the looks of VW buses and was extremely happy to have this one to create with.

For giggles I made this to be an anniversary card for my husband as we celebrate 35 years later this month. The inside says “make life fun”.

You can see here the shimmer I added with the FSJ silk. Just splatted it right over the ink.

Supplies:

  • Image Hippie Flower Power Peace Van, Image No.312 printed on Stampin Up! whisper white card stock
  • Cardstock for base from Neenah
  • Design paper from Color Bok and DCWV
  • Die from Close to My heart
  • India Ink from Memories
  • Liquid silk from Fun Stampers Journey
  • Neon ink from Tsukineko
  • ProMarkers
