The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Paper Piercing tools

Our country is not the only thing to which we owe our allegiance.  It is also owed to justice and to humanity.  Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong.  ~James Bryce

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges! Our Sponsor this month is KLM Designs Emporium and she has some great images so be sure to check out her shop!

Our cue this month is paper piercing tools.

I have several plastic and brass piercing templates that I rediscovered whilst purging out my craft room but rarely use them. After doing this card I can honestly say that I now remember why. While I love the results, my hand is so cramped up from holding onto the templates, then lining up the pokey tool and punching! I’m such a wimp!

For my project I used the Sponsor image “4th Of July Gnome. Isn't he fun! and patriotic! LOL.
The base is 6 x 6 and once I can get back to the craft store, I will be picking up a frame for it since I want to use it for home décor on my mantle.

Supplies:
  • Image printed on Stampin Up! Whisper White card stock
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Piercing stencil from Stampin Up! and Nnknown
  • ProMarkers (Alcohol Markers)
  • Star jewels from The Paper Studio
  • Silver Rounds from Fun Stampers Journey
  • Card sketch by Me CCBC9

Now come on over to The Outlawz Challenges to play along with us or one of the other challenges that are always in process!

TTCRD Anything Goes: Christmas Butterfly

Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life.  And everyone deserves a little sunshine.
Jeffrey Glassberg

Today is the start of another Anything Goes Challenge at Through The Craft Room Door.

Our sponsor this week is SandiSamples

I used this gorgeous Poinsettia Butterfly image. I have been wanting to try my hand at this one for some time and I am delighted with the way my finished card looks!
I hope you are too!

I started by printing the image on a piece of Vellum card stock. I then flipped over so the printed side was down and using markers, started coloring laying down light to dark. Every down and then I would use a q-tip to soften edges or blended a bit more,

I would flip back over to the front to see how it looked and once I was satisfied with the finish from the front, I left to dry thoroughly..

One the front side, I used a glue pencil and added some yellow glitter to the flower centers and a touch of dazzling diamonds to the flowers themselves and the antennae.

I think that by coloring on the backside of vellum you achieve a softer, almost velvety look to the image and colors. Especially on heavier weight vellum like the one SU! sells.

I used the matching paper piercing template to create an outline on the card base,
I die cut a smaller piece of card stock to back the vellum and attached  to the card base with foam dimensionals.

Card size is 5x7
SUPPLY LIST:
Card stock, Vellum, Ink, Dazzling Diamonds glitter and Labels Collection die and paper Piercing Template are all from Stampin Up! / Yellow glitter (flower centers) from OTC / Sentiment from Halo Rubber Stamps / Black ink is India ink from Memories

Feeling Fruity

“When I hear somebody sigh that Life is hard,
I am always tempted to ask, Compared to what?”

Sydney J. Harris

Good morning!
Summer is here with a vengeance! It's has been so hot recently that it is sometimes hard to think of doing anything but trying to stay cool! But this is price we pay for our winters so I don't complain ... much! LOL

Today, over at the Outlawz Challenges, is the start of a new CAS challenge.
We've been asked to make card or projects that show fruits or veggies! It can be your focal point or just part of the scene you create! Just keep in Clean and Simple!

My Card for the challenge
I stamped the image on a piece of watercolor paper, colored with watercolor pencils then spritzed with water. The background layer is a scrap of background paper I had left from another card project.
