Growing in Unity 2024, Day 1

Good morning!

Once again, I have been given the opportunity to share my love of Unity Stamps with so many Crafty Friends! I don’t take this gift lightly as there are many talented crafters out there that put their name in the hat in the hopes of getting selected. I hope you enjoy what I have created for my week in the saddle!

Unity Stamp Company is a small family-owned business and although they ship world-wide, their high-quality rubber stamps are proudly made in the U.S.A. They even offer custom stamps! So, check out their store. You’ll be hooked if you aren’t already!

This week I’ll be working with several of Unity’s Stencil sets. I love these sets as they are easy to use and the results are always outstanding

I don’t often make square cards, but this stencil set works perfectly for that. I am a little bummed because while I ordered the Bevy of Balloons stamp that works with this stencil set, I didn’t order in time to use for this event.

I really do love this stencil set and can't wait to get the stamp!

The frosting looking borders on either side of the image are cut from some foam board I bought from the Dollar store. I’ve been seeing cards and videos of how to use it with dies and I had to try it! I absolutely loved how they turned out. Easy to cut with my Big Shot and the details of the die are not lost. Plus, it’s foam and very light, so it will not add weight for mailing.

I do not know who made the die, I found it at a local resale shop, and it was just in a bag with 4 other dies that also make frosting looking die-cuts. If someone recognizes it, please let me know in the comments!

Supplies, card size: 6 x 6
  • Cardstock from Colorbok (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Die Unknown (Frosting)
  • Foam board from the Dollar Tree
  • Ink from Scrapbook.com, Tsukineko and Fun Stampers Journey (Liquid Silk)
  • Marker from Mala
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamps (Many More Birthdays)
  • Stencils from Unity Stamps (Balloon Layering Stencil)
Thanks for stopping! Please remember to comment on my posts each day as I will be selecting two people to receive a $20 credit to the store!

Tyger Tyger, burning bright, ...

Hi everyone!

Today is the start of a new Outlawz Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge located HERE. This challenge will run for 2 weeks, ending February 4th

This fortnights challenge was selected by Susan

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat.
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp.
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears
And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

My card is inspired by the lines

“Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?”

EDIT: I'm embarrassed to note that this is not a tiger... I know it's not a tiger. I have no idea what I was thinking when I pulled this stamp out as I actually have a very nice tiger stamp .... (sigh)

Growing in Unity 2023, Day 5

'T is Christmas morn! Awake! Awake!
The slumber from thine eyelids shake!...
No such delight through all the year
As comes with Santa's Christmas cheer.
~James Henry Potts, "Old Santa," Every Life a Delight, 1914

Good morning!
This is my day 5 and final post as a Unity Gal for 2023! Always a bit sad to have my time come to and end but I am ever so grateful for the opportunity to promote Unity Stamp Company and their amazing line of stamps & products. There will be plenty more talented people throughout the rest of 2023 who will also be sharing their Unity cards & projects for you so make sure you are following Unity Stamps on FaceBook so you don’t miss out on a single post!

Please remember to comment on my posts each day as I will be selecting two people to receive a $20 credit to the store!

Today’s card uses another stamp & stencil set called Vintage Poinsettia … which is the last of my three favorite flowers. This one is stunning and again, the stencils are numbered and make it so easy to color and highlight the stamped image! Sadly, there is no die for the image so I fussy cut it out as my Brothers S&C is inaccessible right now.

I’m think though that I need to make a layered version!

Supplies, card size: 5 x 7
Unity Stamp & Stencil set, Vintage Poinsettia
Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) & Hammermill Color Copy
Design Paper from Unity Stamps, Rustic Winter Wishes & Festive Christmas
Ink from Tsukineko & Stampin Up!
Nuvo drops
Sequins from my stash
Sketch from Viva la Verve, May2018

The Daisy is a Weed of little Worth—
Save that it makes a Dearer Place of Earth.
~Arthur Guiterman, "Of Flowers and Bees," A Poet's Proverbs, 1924

Good morning!

This is my day 3 as a Unity Gal sharing another card I made using a Unity Stamp set.

I do hope you enjoy my projects! Also, please make sure you comment on the post each day as at the end of the week I get to pick two people who will receive a $20 credit to the store!

Today’s card uses a stamp & stencil set from Unity Stamps called de Fleur daisy.

Daisies are another one of my three favorite flowers so I was really intrigued when this set came out. This was my first time using and I really enjoyed the process. The layering stencils are great to work with as they are sturdy and nicely numbered so you know which one to use in order.

  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base) & Hammermill color copy

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Mulberry Paper

Beyond the East the sunrise, beyond the West the sea,
And East and West the wanderlust that will not let me be;
It works in me like madness, dear, to bid me say, good‑bye!
For the seas call and the stars call, and oh, the call of the sky.
~Gerald Gould, "Wanderlust," c. 1905

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Twine/Floss

Bring forth the raisins and the nuts—
To-night All-Hallow’s Spectre struts
Along the moonlit way...
~John Kendrick Bangs, "Hallowe’en," Echoes of Cheer, 1912

Good morning!
We have a new Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge going on! You can find us HERE! The challenges will run through November 14th so come play along.

Our sponsor this month is Sheepski Designs
The challenge for this month is to use Twine/Floss (no ribbon).

For my card I used Andrea’s adorable image Trick or Treat - no 228

I was a bit surprised to realized that I didn’t have a cobweb stencil so I had to improvise. I used a die from Sizzix which I cut from a stiff super heavyweight cardstock I have and used that to create the web effect on the card. Worked pretty well!

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Sponsor image printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Bakers twine from American Crafts
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base), American Craft and Stampin Up!
  • Clear pop of color from Scrapbook.com
  • Corner punch from Stampin Up!
  • Dies from Sizzix (Cobweb) (to create a stencil) and Whimsy Stamps (Bats & Bubbles)
  • Ink from Stampin up!
  • ProMarkers

Hey Little One ...

When babies look beyond you and giggle, maybe they're seeing angels. ~Eileen Elias Freeman, The Angels' Little Instruction Book, 1994

Good morning!
Today I am sharing an accidental boy baby card!
I rarely make cards for Littles but recently I found myself having to make 4 cards, 3 girls and one boy… the issue is I messed up when making a card for an incoming baby girl because I was thinking about the baby boy that I needed to make a card for!

Ah well … it’s not really a bad thing as I have the card for just in case!

Supplies (5 x 7 card)
  • Pre-colored image from Cuddle Buddy (Baby Animals) printed on Hammermill color copy
  • Card candy for flower centers from my stash
  • Card stock from The Paper Studio (Base) and scrap bin
  • Die from Close to My Heart (Looped Circle)
  • Flower dies (Unknown)
  • Ink from Stampin Up! and Versafine Claire

Who's there???

We see then that the bat is a very wonderful creature, one of Nature's triumphs and masterpieces... ~W. H. Hudson, "Bats," The Book of a Naturalist, 1919

Good morning!
This morning I am sharing a card I made for the new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge which just started. You can find the challenge HERE

Our poem this fortnight was picked by Susan Murphy

Antigonish [I met a man who wasn't there] HUGHES MEARNS
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...
When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn't see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don't you come back anymore!
Go away, go away, and please don't slam the door... (slam!)
Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh, how I wish he'd go away...

Our sponsor this challenge is Oddball Art with a $10.00 prize.

I always love using her images because she has so many fun ones to pick from! For this fun slimline card I am using an adorable image of a bat dressed up like a ghostie as my card was inspired by the lines I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish, I wish he'd go away... Made me think of ghosties and what better way to "go away" than use wings

I colored his wings black, then added a bit of texture by tamping alcohol over them to fade out a few spots them went back over with some canvas paint and a star stencil.

Supplies, Slimline card

Fall is here ...

How dear the woods are! You beautiful trees! I love every one of you as a friend. ~Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea, 1909

Good morning!
This morning I am sharing a card I made for the new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge which just started. You can find the challenge HERE

Our poem this fortnight was picked by Nan Murphy

Fall is here, hear the yell
Back to school, ring the bell
Brand new shoes, walking blues
Climb the fence, books and pens
I can tell that we are gonna be friends
I can tell that we are gonna be friends
Walk with me, Suzy Lee
Through the park and by the tree
We will rest upon the ground
And look at all the bugs we found
Safely walk to school without a sound
Safely walk to school without a sound
Here we are, no one else
We walked to school all by ourselves
There's dirt on our uniforms
From chasing all the ants and worms
We clean up and now its time to learn
We clean up and now its time to learn

My card this challenge was inspired by two lines:

Through the park and by the tree
And
I can tell that we are gonna be friends

Our sponsor this challenge is GeckoGalz Designs. They carry an amazing assortment of images, both line art and pre-colored. I lean towards their pre-colored digital sets because they are always beautifully done!

For my card layout, I am using a sketch I created as landscape but decided to turn portrait. really wanted to pull out the gold because you know, Fall color, so I went with a base cover thinking I would emboss it to add some texture. Only I did not have an embossing folder I felt would work will with the image so I decided to do a bit of tone on tone stenciling.

Supplies, 5 x 7 card
  • Pre-colored image from the digital collage set "Fall into Nature" printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Circle punches from Stampin Up!
  • Ink from Stampin Up! & Versafine Claire
  • Rhinestones from my stash
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamps
  • Stencil from Stampers Anonymous (Clockwork)
  • Sketch use: CCBC#3

Floating by to say hi ...

Smell the Sea and fell the Sky. - Van Morrison

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing a card I created for our Color Challenge at The Outlawz Challenges using an image from our Sponsor, Beccys Place

This fortnight we are using a Tic Tac Toe board for our challenge. I have chosen to work with the middle row, vertical

I absolutely squeed when I saw this image and sentiment! I do have a bit of a twisted sense of humor and usually do amazingly well keeping it under control but seriously – this image is perfect for this challenge! And that expression on her face really made it more awesome!

As you can see she is 'floating' along in the innertube, her bathing suit mimics the ball (so appropriate don’t you think) and her hair is the colors of the starfish. the cloud background was inspired by the water background in the bottom photo, but I used clouds as a play on the sentiment.

Supplies used (5x7 card)
  • Digital image (Floating by) printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Birds are from a stencil I created myself using dies
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base)
  • Ink from Stampin Up! and Tsukineko
  • Judikins diamond glaze
  • ProMarkers
  • Random stamps from Stamps by Judy
  • Stencil (Cloud, moon & Stars) from Stampin Up!
