She had to dance ...

She had to dance — she just had to!... The music seemed to move in her body, moving through her. She leaped high and flung out her arms and oh, how she smiled! As she danced, Clara forgot her sorrow. ~Amy Ehrlich, The Girl Who Wanted to Dance, 2009

Good morning,
Today I am sharing a card I created for a young lady that loves to dance. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and will be undergoing an aggressive treatment program so hopefully this card will be one of many that cheer her up!

The cat ballerina is from a very old Stampin Up! Set and I fall in love with the set every time I use it! So stinking cute! For this card, I used the kitty ballerina. I stamped her twice. Once on gray cardstopck and once on a piece of design paper scrap so I could do a bit of paper piecing. Before I added the design paper to the image I fussy cut it out and then used a gray ProMarker to add some shadows.

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Cardstock from Pen & Gear (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Circle die from Make It
  • Design paper Unknown and Close to My Heart
  • Gold metallic cardstock from my scrap bin
  • Image from Stampin Up! (Beautiful Ballerinas)
  • Ink from Momento an Stampin Up!
  • ProMarkers
  • Rhinestones from Recollections
  • Sentiment from Studio G
  • Sketch used Mojo Monday #465
Thanks for stopping by!

Snips and snails, and puppy dogs' tails ...

Hug a firefighter and feel warm all over. ~Author unknown

Good morning,
Today I am sharing a card I created for a young man whose birthday has now passed. He loves firetrucks and I happen to have a set of old stickers I had been gifted that had a couple fire engines that were perfect. I didn't realize the set was fairly old until I tried to remove the sticker from the release backing and couldn't without risk of tearing so I just cut around it the added pop dots to lift it off the page just a bit.

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Cardstock from Pen & Gear (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from Momento
  • Embossing plates: Cuttlebug (Diamond Plate) & Stampin Up! (Subtle)
  • Firetruck sticker from Stickopotamus
  • Metallic cardstock from my scrap box
  • Sentiment from Inkahootz!
  • Sketch used: Mojo Monday #463
Thanks for stopping by!

Card for Garrett

Adolescence is a period of rapid changes. Between the ages of 12 and 17, for example, a parent ages as much as 20 years. ~Author Unknown

Hi Everyone!
Today I am sharing a card I made for Garrett Brown, a young man who is turning 16 years old today! Fabulous right? A milestone birthday on a leap year day!

In 2002 he was mauled quite badly by a dog and was left mostly blind with multiple facial scars. It seems he read an article (he reads braille) about a little girl whose wish was to receive Christmas cards and he started wondering why he never received any mail for his birthday.
So a request was issued asking people from around the world to make his 16th birthday wish come true!

Here is the card I made for him using the sketch on the left ... I found it on Pinterest but I don't know where it comes from :O(

Supplies

Card stock from The Paper Studio, Stampin Up!, Bazzill & Sizzix
Design paper from DCWV (I think)
Dies: Mixed Media from Sizzix
Dies: Banner from Stampin Up!
Ink from Stampin Up!
Sentiment from Inkahootz!

A request from Misty Loges - Blogging it forward (FB)

Please, if you can take a few minutes to read this request from Misty Loges regarding a friend of hers.

"I know many of you are busy with holiday activities & getting ready for school. I do hope you can help me cheer a young man, who had a terrible accident, and is in hospital paralyzed from neck down. He has been making tiny improvements and is off ventilator. Of course we hope he will recover use of all limbs. But can y'all take time to send him a cheery card please? And feel free to share with other card makers. Thank you
