Exploding Pop-up card for the in-laws

Good morning,

I love making special Christmas cards the parents but I think this year I outside myself for the In-laws!

I found a tutorial on YouTube for an Exploding Pop-up card that just had to make …

You should start HERE on her blog or you can find the video HERE

The card itself is not overtly complicated but the folds can be fussy when trying to manipulate but seriously worth the effort when done!

Edith did an amazing job teaching how to make this card and I will definitely be making this card again.

*** Sorry about the photo quality - I just could not seem to get a really good picture of the card before I had to gift it.

The Outlawz No Stamp Challenge, Christmas/Winter

Good morning!
Today is the start of a new challenge at The Outlawz Challenge. You can play along HERE

This challenge discourages the use of any physical stamps or digital images. Exceptions will be made for digital paper and stamped or digital sentiments

This month our challenge is something Winter/Christmas.

I made this fun fold card for a woman who has mentored and mothered me for years. She considers me her daughter and I love her very much even though she lives quite a bit of distance from me so I’ve been unable to see her in person for a long time!

I saw this card on Pinterest and ended up watching and following a video (HERE) created by Sam Calcott UK. Great video, well done, fairly easy to follow and the card us fun to make and when I sent out, I used 5 x 7 envelope without issue.

Supplies: A2
Cardstock: The Paper Studio (Base)
Design Paper: Recollections (Christmas)
Die: Concord & 9th (Poinsettia Quilt Top) – Sentiment; Unknown (Snowflakes)

Big Happy Wishes

Good morning,
November Birthdays have come and gone so I'm sharing a fun card I made for my daughter

This is called a Bay Window card and there seems to be quite a few variations of the layout. I think I like this one best.

The flowers on the side panel were done using the stamp off technique to add depth.(Looks better IRL)

I'm slowly starting to increase my selection of  6 x 6 pads for my cards as the patterns are a bit smaller and they are easier travel with. Still loving my 8 x 8 and 12 x 12 papers though. For this card I am using a new to me 6 x 6 pad called Family ties from Pebbles. I just love the designs and color combination of the set which consists of several shades of blue and green along with a love shade of yellow and brown and lends itself well to both feminine and masculine style cards.

Size: A2
  • Cardstock: Stampin Up!
  • Design Paper: Pebbles (Family Ties)
  • Dies: Yvonne Creations (Large flowers), Unknown (Small flowers & leaves)
  • Embossing folder: Stampin Up! (Subtle)
  • Ink: Stampin Up!
  • Rhinestones: Stampin Up!
  • Stamps: Unity Stamps (It’s a mug hug), Stamps by Judith (3 flower stubbie)
Thanks for stopping by!

Monstrous Halloween

Good evening,

I've pretty much got my craft stuff out but I've been job hunting and not spending much time making anything but I really wanted to play with paper when I saw a card on Pinterest called a Bay Window card. It was so cool that I looked up the directions on how to make one.

People, this card is so easy to make and very fun to decorate. Of course, for my first card I just did panels but you can die cut windows into them for another look.

This card does use an A2 base but I would like to try a 5 x 7 so I need to look for that or see if I can figure out the measurements. This card is so easy that I imagine figuring that out will be fairly uncomplicated.

So here is my first Bay Window card creating a fun Halloween card using an older stamp & die set from Close to My Heart which was released in 2016 I believe. I think these guys are so adorable and adding fun googly eyes just ramps them up a to hilarious!

Size: A2
Cardstock: Close to My Heart
Design Paper: Close to My Heart (Jeepers Creepers)
Embellishments: Stash (Googly eyes)
Ink: Stampin Up!
Spiderweb: Sizzix
Stamps: Close to my Heart (Monstrous Halloween)

Sweet Birthday

To be remembered on one's birthday is a thrill — to know others are saying with cakes, cards, and good wishes thanks for being born into our lives! ~Terri Guillemets, "Keepsake," 2013

Good morning,
I keep things like unfinished cards and projects in a binder then take with me to crops to work on. Today I am sharing a birthday card I started to make quite a long time ago and finally pulled out the pieces and finished during a crop I did a while back

After all this time I don't have the list of what all I used but I can tell you that all I really started with was just the diecut cupcake base and insert. It's been so long I don' even remember where I got the base from now. Anyway, I dug around in my scraps and found the printed design paper which I thought would make super cute decorated 'frosting'. I added the scallop border (Stampin Up!). Used a coupe more scraps to stamp the tag and punch out (Stampin Up!).

I think it turned out super cute and the recipient of this card loved it too.

Thansk for stopping by!

Valentine Bow for Sister-in-law ...

My Valentine has paws. ~Patrick McDonnell, @muttscomics, Instagram post, 2020

Good morning,
Today I am sharing a Big Bow card I made for my sister-in-Law for Valentines Day. To be fair, she did ask me to make this for her to place in her hutch as a Valentine decoration after seeing one I made for my Parent-in-laws for Christmas several years ago.

Making the bow is actually pretty easy and straight forward! Of course it would be much easier if I would get motivated and upload the pattern to my scan n cut so I didn’t have to trace and hand cut out everything … anyway, I digress …

The decorating part of the bow can actually be quite time consuming as it takes patience and thought! :O)

Supplies
  • Beaded embellishment from Studio Mr & Mrs
  • Bow Template from sandras scrap shop (Pinterest)
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio and Stampin Up!
  • Design Paper from Close to My Heart (La Vie Rose)
  • Dies from Memory Box (Grape Leaves), Spellbinders (Label 10), Spellbinders (Reflection oval) and Unknown (leaves and vines)
  • Embossing folder from Stampin Up! (Subtle)
  • Ink from Stampin Up!
  • Jewel from my stash

This card was so easy to make dut it sure looks like it took some time to put together!

I’d give a supply but I can find it right now but will update post when I do.

The Character of a Man ...

“At the end of life, what really matters is not what we bought but what we built; not what we got but what we shared; not our competence but our character; and not our success, but our significance. Live a life that matters. Live a life of love.”
~ Author Unknown

Hi Everyone!
Today I am sharing a special card I made for a special person who recently retired from an amazing career as a teacher in the medical field.

This is a Bendi card. Every tutorial I had or could find was for an A2 size card so not only is this the first time I’ve made this style of card, I also had to do math (Blech!) to change the sizing to a 5 x 7 card.

Sadly, I also made a gift box to go along with the card, but I forgot to take pictures of that.

This picture is of the card folded into the diorama position

This picture shows the inside of the card

Supplies
Cardstock mostly from Stampin Up! with bits and pieces from my scrap bin.
Metallic cardstock is from Bazzill, The Dollar Tree and The Paper Temptress

And, so, Christmas comes to bless us! Comes to teach us how to find the joy of giving happiness and the joy of being kind. ~Gertrude Tooley Buckingham, "There Will Always Be a Christmas" (1940s)

Good morning Everyone!

Today I am sharing a Christmas card ...
This is one of those twist cards (I think they are called), first one I've ever made and still not sure what I think about them!

Christmas blessings die from Crafters Companion

O Christmas Tree ...

"It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!... Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more!" ~Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Good morning Everyone!

Week one of the New Year has been lived! I hope you made amazing memories this week for yourself and others!

This week I am sharing a 6 x 6 pop up Christmas card. I have to admit, every time I use this particular die from Stampin Up, I am reminded why I don't use it often. While it makes beautiful cards it can be frustrating to put the tree together and attach to the inside of the card in such a way to ensure it pops up correctly and folds back in when the card is closed.

Outside
Design paper unknown
Green metallic card stock from Provocrafts
Merry Christmas Border die from Fawn Lawn
Wreath die from Gina Marie Designs

Inside
Design paper unknown
Fancy Vine Frame die from Gina Marie Designs
India Ink from Memories
Labels 25 die from Spellbinders
Pop up O Christmas Tree Die from Stampin Up!
Sentiment stamp from Inkadinkado

That's it folks! Thanks for stopping by!

80 Birthdays!

“Live in such a way that if someone spoke badly of you, no one would believe it.” ~ Author Unknown

Good morning
I am sharing a special birthday card for a special lady who just turned 80!

Although I have met the woman several times, I really don't know her on a personal level but my husband does and I have only heard good things about her from him.

Dr. Lewis appears to be thought of very highly by everyone that comes to know her. From what I understand, the woman is tough but knowledgeable and encouraging. A true educator.

I have also noticed during certain events where she is in attendance that everyone dotes on her.
It's actually quite funny to watch because, while this woman has aged quite a bit since I first made her acquaintance and now requires a cane to walk, she is still very independent and can get a bit grumpy when people try to 'help' her ... so now they all do it tag team style and on the sly!
They just "happen" to be walking in her direction when heading to and from their cars is one of the most popular tag team events to watch!

So here is the card I made for her.
This is a Tee-Pee card

Supplies
Balloon punch from Marvy
Cardstock from The Paper Studio and Stampin Up!
Darice die "Foliage Branch"
Design Paper from GCD Studios "Chocolate Kisses"
Embossing folders from Cuttlebug "Perfectly Paisley" and Swiss Dots"
Fern punch from Martha Steward
Flower stamens from Jo-Ann Fabrics
Gina Marie Designs die "Butterfly, small profile"
Ink from Stampin Up! and Memories
Ornament punch (used for vase) from Stampin Up!
Pearls from Michaels and Stampin Up!
Pink flowers from The Paper Studio "La Petites"
Silver flowers from Close to My Heart
Sizzix die "Ornate frames"
Stampin Up! die "Butterflies"

Another Christmas Card Share!

I can understand people simply fleeing the mountainous effort Christmas has become... but there are always a few saving graces and finally they make up for all the bother and distress.
~May Sarton

I have absolutely no clue where any of the items used to make this card came from. This was a card I started to make in a card class some time ago but never completed. Not even sure I have all the pieces to the origigal card! But its done now!

Its 4.25 x 5.50 and has a tag tucked into the pocket.
