Birthday Candles ...

Good morning,

Sharing another January Birthday card…

Although I am making more complicated or embellished cards, my comfort zone has always been CAS cards so when I saw a sketch from Cas(e) this Sketch, I had to make it and I had just the new die that I bought during one of the Holiday sales that was perfect to use!

The card just looked so unhappy with a plain background, and I don’t have a suitable embossing folder that was large enough to fit the paper. And then I remembered my crimping tool from Fiskars! Do any of you remember or still have yours? I think they were all the rage when I first started paper crafting. Anyway, I still have mine because it comes in handy now and again.

I decided to use it as the backdrop for the candles. I think it really brought the card up a couple levels.

I wanted to add some sparkle and used some gems I had in my stash that I colored with a yellow alcohol marker. Perfect and soooo cute!

This is probably one of my favorite cards I’ve made!

Sketch Used

Card size: 5.50 x 8.50

  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and scrap bin

Joined a new Design Team ...

Good morning,

Well today I was supposed to be a Guest DT for the Cut it Up Challenge located HERE but instead I joined the Design Team as a full-fledged member! I’m really excited about this opportunity because it will have me using my many craft dies more often. YAY!

So onto the challenge … For these challenges, a die-cut is anything made with a manual or an electronic die-cutting machine. (Spellbinders, Cricut, MFT dies, Silhouette, etc.). Store bought die-cuts are also acceptable. Please note that handheld punches and/or paper piecing’s DO NOT count as a die-cut.

Our theme this challenge is Clean and Simple so I made a sweet Birthday card for a Great Aunt.

The Outlawz No Stamp Challenge, Easter/Faith

Good morning!
Today is the start of a new challenge at The Outlawz Challenge. You can play along HERE

This new challenge discourages the use of any physical stamps or digital images. Exceptions will be made for digital paper and stamped or digital sentiments

Our theme this month is Easter / Faith

I created a relatively clean and simple card using a sweet die I’ve had for a while but not used.
I am in the middle of a home renovation so a lot of stuff is either packed away or shoved in my front room in a tangle of boxes and shelves so I seemed to be unable to locate the Easter sentiment die I wanted to use and just went with a simple hello die I found.

Supplies: 5x7
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base), Stampin Up! & Bazzill
  • Die: Hello from Avery Elle
  • Die: Spring Egg scene from Die-namics
  • Rhinestones: Recollections
  • Stash: Flower sequins

From our home to yours

Holly in December, an' violets in May—
An' Christmas came to our house — an' never went away.
~Wilbur D. Nesbit, "Always Christmas," 1910

I like to recycle Christmas cards and make new cards or gift tags, depending on the card.
Today I am sharing a card I make… Very clean and simple but the image is a gorgeous foil.

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base)
  • Ink is Versafine Clair
  • Sentiment from Close to My Heart (Love with all the Trimmings)

Thanks for stopping by!

Faith in Falling Stars

To be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars... and to spend as much time as you can, with body and with spirit, in God's out-of-doors — these are little guide-posts on the foot-path to peace. ~Henry Van Dyke, "The Foot-Path to Peace"

I am running late posting this card, but a new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge has started at The Outlawz Challenges and will run through April 2, 2022

Our sponsor this challenge is Oddball Art
The prize offered is a $10.00 gift card

Our Song/Rhyme this Fortnight was selected Margaret

Catch a falling Star

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day

For love may come and tap you on the shoulder
Some starless night
Just in case you feel you wanna' hold her
You'll have a pocketful of starlight

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away (never let it fade away)
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day (save it for a rainy day)
(Save it for a rainy, rainy, rainy day)

For when your troubles starting multiplying
And they just might
It's easy to forget them without trying
With just a pocketful of starlight

Puppy Hugs ...

A dog is so often the answer — when you're lonely and need company, or when you're tired of company and need lonely. ~Robert Brault, rbrault.blogspot.com

Good morning!
Today we are at the midpoint of the week and it is my Day 3 as a Unity Gal!

For my card today I am using the cute Full of Happy Hugs

This is actually my 2nd attempt at watercoloring this image as the paper I am using is an unsealed version and sucks up any moisture almost immediately causing some challenges if you want to bleed and blend.

Using a water pen, I added color using my distress inks. Not as bright as I wanted but I’m still really happy with it!

Supplies:
  • Image “Full of Happy Hugs” from Unity Stamp Co.
  • Cardstock from my Stash
  • Distress Markers from Ranger
  • India Ink from Memories
  • Sequins from my stash
  • Water pen
  • Watercolor paper from my stash

Unity Stamp Company is a small family-owned business and although they ship world-wide, their high-quality rubber stamps are proudly made in the U.S.A. They even offer custom stamps! So, check out their store. You’ll be hooked if you aren’t already!

Here are links to the Unity Stamp Company Store and Social Media Sites!

Go check them out! You won’t be disappointed!

Don't forget to leave me a comment for a chance to be one of two people I get to pick who will each win a $20 gift credit to the store.

Thank for stopping by and good luck!!

Phoenix Paper Crafters Paper Pack Challenge: You Arff the Best!

I had to have company — I was made for it, I think — so I made friends with the animals. They are just charming, and they have the kindest disposition and the politest ways; they never look sour, they never let you feel that you are intruding, they smile at you and wag their tail, if they've got one, and they are always ready for a romp or an excursion or anything you want to propose. ~Mark Twain

Phoenix Paper Crafters is running another fun challenge this month and I thought I would take a shot at this one too as it is simply picking a paper pad and making cards/projects with that specific pad of paper.

I chose to use a fun paper pack called Playful Pets from Stampin Up! to make cards for the doggie day care I take my pups too. They are always having a fund or food raiser for local rescues, veteran service animals etc., and I figured they could sell them and make a little extra money.

Supplies

Snow-flakes! Yes, it is true, in accordance with the child-thought, you come floating so gently down from Heaven as if afraid of hurting the wintry earth.... Ye gentle, fleecy things!... Snow-flakes! ~A.S. Macduff, "The Message of the Snow-Flakes," in The Sunday Magazine (London), 1884
