Bird of freedom ...

Good morning,
Many changes taking place in my life these days and I’m trying to manage each one the best I can …

One of those changes involved a rather fast and furious move to the other side of the valley I live in and that means I have to downsize my crafting stuff that just got tossed into boxes and moved.

I’ve been working on it little by little and I have made great strides but I still have more that needs to be attended to.

Anyway, I have a box of half-finished projects that I have now started to deal with and one of them was this ornament bird kit from Darcies that I have had so long I absolutely can not remember where I got it from. Which makes sense as the kit was released in late 2010 I believe.

It is a 3-D type ornament that uses wood and acrylic shapes and creates a bit of a shaker window on either side.

But I love and decided to finish it. I used some positive, confirming sentiments I had from Unity Stamps because I feel like this bird represents me right now.

Supplies
  • Acrylic Ornament, free bird from Darcie’s
  • Design paper from Close to My Heart (Scrap piece)
  • Embossing folder from Spellbinders (Music)
  • Ink from Tsukineko (Versafine clair), Stampin Up! & Ranger Distress Ink
  • Seed beads & twine from my stash
  • Sentiments from Unity Stamps

Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs, Cara

Autumn Comes ...

No spring nor summer's beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one Autumnal face....
~John Donne, "Elegy IX: The Autumnal"

Good morning!
This morning I am sharing a card I made for the new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge which just started. You can find the challenge HERE

Our poem this fortnight is

Summer days are here at last,
Days of school are in the past,
Summer skies will turn to grey,
And summer's warmth will fade away,
Autumn comes and leaves fall down,
Winter comes, snow covers the ground,
Spring comes and brings new life,
And ends all of the winter's strife,
All the seasons come and go,
From the summer's heat to the winter's snow...
--- Katherine Knight ---

Our sponsor this challenge is Alex Syberia Design and I am always thrilled to use one of her gorgeous images! For my challenge card I am using her Autumn Leaves Frame. Although the title says Autumn, I do believe this image can be used for spring as well … just use bright greens instead of the autumnal colors like I used.

I colored my image using my distress markers, a bit of water and the smooshed ink method. I love how it turned out! Once everything was dry, I did a bit of fussy cutting of the center to create a window, added acrylic sheeting and made a fun shaker card using some random leaf confetti and sequins I had in my stash.

Supplies, 5.5 x 7 card
Image Autumn Leaves Frame printed in Hammermill Card Stock
Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and scrap box
Die from Spellbinders (Fall Botanicals)
Judikins Diamond Glaze
Leaf confetti and seed beads from my stash
Ranger Distress Markers

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Googlie Eyes

The best of healers is good cheer. ~Pindar
Good morning!

I am a bit behind posting this but a new “Crash your Stash” challenge started at The Outlawz Challenges
The purpose of this Challenge is to encourage you to use those items that are no longer trending and probably stashed away in a drawer. Forgotten and alone. So, we are here to help inspire you to dig those lovely items out and bring them new life!
At the start of the challenge, we will tell you what item we want you to pull from your stash and use and you will have a whole month to find, dust off and create something lovely with the item! That simple!
And to make it better, We Are 3 Digital Shop is generously sponsoring us so everyone month, someone will win a lovely prize!
Our item for this month is Googlie eyes and I created a get well card using one of the sentiments from the prize packet this month!

Supplies: A2 card
  • Sentiment from We Are 3 Digital Sentiments – Eyes printed on Stampin Up Whisper White card stock
  • Acrylic sheet scrap for window
  • Design paper “Green Damask” from Echo Park
  • Googlie eyes and beads from stash
  • India ink from Memories
  • Mason jar stamp & die set from Momenta

Shake - Shake - Shake ...

You need a village, if only for the pleasure of leaving it. A village means that you are not alone, knowing that in the people, the trees, the earth, there is something that belongs to you, waiting for you when you are not there. ~Casare Pavese

Greetings and Salutations my Crafty Peeps!
This month, I am again playing along with the Progressive Freebie Challenge at DigiStamps4Joy Facebook Group

This month our image is this adorable image “Shop front”

I decided this would be a great image for a shaker card. I will say though that I should have used a thicker foam tape as the sequins and glitter don’t move as easily as I would like. But that’s okay, as I finally created a card that does not “leak” – Yay me!

Supplies
  • Image “Shop front” printed on Stampin Up! Whisper White card stock and colored with Staedlter watercolor crayons
  • Die: Fall Botanicals from Spellbinders
  • Embellishments: Sequins from Close to My Heart, Glitter glue from Studio G
  • Other: Sequins in shaker from craft medley, glitter unknown

Thanks for stopping by!

The Night Before Christmas...

Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time. ~Laura Ingalls Wilder

Good morning Everyone!
Today is the start of a new color challenge for The Outlawz Challenges.
This week our challenge is a Tic-Tac-Toe board!

Our sponsor this month is Bugaboo Stamps and I am using this cute little image "Winter Bench"

I decided to make a shaker card. I've only made a few and to be honest, by the time I was done with this one (several remakes later) I remembered why I rarely make them!

This card is 5.50 x 5.50

I used the top row for my card.

Merry Merry Merry

Very gay they were with snow and sleigh-bells, holly-boughs, and garlands, below, and Christmas sunshine in the winter sky above. All faces shone, all voices had a cheery ring, and everybody stepped briskly on errands of good-will. ~Louisa May Alcott, "Seamstress," Work: A Story of Experience, 1873
