Paper quilts

Good morning,

My son-in-law has a mother that quilts. Beautiful quilts and she blessed me with one a couple years ago that I absolutely love.

I was thinking of what to get her this year when I decided to make her a set of seasonal quilt pieces for her quilting room only, I would make mine out of paper instead of fabric.

The four pictures represent Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. It was a lot of die cutting and gluing but these turned out amazing and I know she’s going to love them.

WINTER

SPRING

SUMMER

FALL

I methodically wrote down every die I used, the cardstocks and design papers I used and I can’t find it anywhere so I’m betting it got caught up in some tossed scraps when I was cleaning off my work table. Don’t you hate it when that happens??? Anyway, I spent some time going back through everything and I think I got most, if not all of what I used.

Supplies for 10 x 10 pictures
  • Frames purchased from Heart Art via Amazon
  • Embossing folders: Cuttlebug (Spring set); Gina K Designs (Falling Leaves); Sizzix (Airplane & dotted lines set); Sizzix (Snow & tree set)
  • Cardstock: The Paper Studio
  • Design Papers are all from Honeybee Stamps: Beach vibes; Great outdoors; Hot tropics; Hugs & kisses; Over the Rainbow
  • Dies are all from Gina Marie Designs: #1 quilt; #10, Hexagon center; #11, Arrows & squares; #12, Blocks & lines; #14, Triangle me happy; #18, Patchwork; #19, Compass star; #2 quilt; #3, flower burst; #4, Circles; #5 quilt; #8 quilt; Diamond drop quilt; Leaf quilt; Pumpkin quilt; Spring flower quilt

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Mulberry Paper

Beyond the East the sunrise, beyond the West the sea,
And East and West the wanderlust that will not let me be;
It works in me like madness, dear, to bid me say, good‑bye!
For the seas call and the stars call, and oh, the call of the sky.
~Gerald Gould, "Wanderlust," c. 1905

Good morning!
We have a new Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge going on! You can find us HERE! The challenges will run through December 14th so come play along.

Our sponsor this month is Beccy’s Place

https://beccysplace.com/
The challenge for this month is to use Mulberry paper

For my card I used a sentiment and a grumpy (or is it bored?) looking fellow from the set Floating along!

I cut and fringed the mulberry paper to form a frame around the image. I match it to the hat as best I could and love how it came out!

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Sponsor image printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Birds created using a stencil I make
  • Ink from Scrapbook.com
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base)
  • Design paper from Recollections (Tropic Vacation)
  • Mulberry paper from Paperbilities
  • ProMarkers
  • Stencil from Stampin Up! (Clouds, Moon & Stars)
  • Oval dies unknown

Floating by to say hi ...

Smell the Sea and fell the Sky. - Van Morrison

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing a card I created for our Color Challenge at The Outlawz Challenges using an image from our Sponsor, Beccys Place

This fortnight we are using a Tic Tac Toe board for our challenge. I have chosen to work with the middle row, vertical

I absolutely squeed when I saw this image and sentiment! I do have a bit of a twisted sense of humor and usually do amazingly well keeping it under control but seriously – this image is perfect for this challenge! And that expression on her face really made it more awesome!

As you can see she is 'floating' along in the innertube, her bathing suit mimics the ball (so appropriate don’t you think) and her hair is the colors of the starfish. the cloud background was inspired by the water background in the bottom photo, but I used clouds as a play on the sentiment.

Supplies used (5x7 card)
  • Digital image (Floating by) printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Birds are from a stencil I created myself using dies
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base)
  • Ink from Stampin Up! and Tsukineko
  • Judikins diamond glaze
  • ProMarkers
  • Random stamps from Stamps by Judy
  • Stencil (Cloud, moon & Stars) from Stampin Up!

Our sponsor this challenge is Mirtillament

Our Song/Rhyme this month was selected Jen and a fun song it is!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun

I come home, in the mornin' light
My mother says "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh momma dear, we're not the fortunate ones
And girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have fun...
The phone rings, in the middle of the night
My father yells "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh daddy dear, you know you're still number one
But girls they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the workin' day is done
Oh girls, they wanna have fun .....

This was such a fun image to color! I created a mask of the images so that I could stamp over the top. The sun I punched a circle from copy paper and using the negative space and a brush colored in the sun.

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Chalks

We hit the sunny beaches where we occupy ourselves keeping the sun off our skin, the saltwater off our bodies, and the sand out of our belongings. ~Erma Bombeck

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges and our Sponsor this month is Simply Betty Stamps!

Our cue this month is chalks!

I actually use mine a lot for edging stuff when I want a softer look. Ink can sometimes be harsh and the chalk works great and can be brushed away if I put a little too much on. They are also awesome for making background! Which is what I did here.

I used stippling brushes to swipe on the chalk, then a tissue to soften and blend out streaks.

Supplies:
  • Image printed on Stampin Up! Whisper White card stock
  • Chalks from Stampin Up!
  • Diamond glaze from Judikins
  • Dies from Stampin Up! and Unknown
  • Glitter glue from Studio G
  • ProMarkers

Now come on over to The Outlawz Challenges to play along with us or one of the other challenges that are always in process!

Hurry up & Relax ...

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the blue sky, is by no means waste of time. ~John Lubbock, "Recreation," The Use of Life, 1894

The Case of the Vanishing Mojo ...

Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will be delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life will become a beautiful success... ~Louisa May Alcott, Little Women, 1868

Good evening Everyone …
I am so very late with this post, but I have been dealing with some computer challenges, struggling with a vacationing Ms. Mojo and a sense of being untethered. Being retired I am discovering some things about myself that is rather iritating ... like I NEED routines and I have not been doing well at settling into one so I feel aimless. This is not a good thing and something I need to figure out quick!

In the meantime, I managed to get a new computer and have been sorting out all the accompanying issues that go along with that. Ms. Mojo seems to be back … kinda – somewhat so I managed to put together this card for the Outlawz Challenges Color challenge which started this past Tuesday.

Our challenge this week, picked by AJ, is to use 3 colors (below) and you can use the optional twist of Summer Fun.

Our Sponsor this Month is Bugaboo with a lovely prize of 4 images.

Here is my card using their fun little summer image BUGKIDZBEACH

Supplies
Image “BUGKIDZBEACH” colored with alcohol markers
Aleen’s Paper Glaze
Cardstock from The Paper Studio and my scrap bin
Chantilly Design paper from Close my Heart
Die - Day Dreams from Spellbinders
Die - Wonky Frames from Gina Marie Designs
Pink glitter glue from Studio G
Yellow Stickles from Ranger

Bright and Sunny Days...

If we tarry a little while, we shall behold a sunset on the ocean,—a sight worth traversing a kingdom to see. How finely the sands glow in the amber light, what a beautiful purple gleams on the crests of the tiny waves! The colours have changed as if by the moving of a fairy wand—a happy union of fire and its great antagonist. ~Henry James Slack (1818–1896), The Ministry of the Beautiful, "Conversation II: Footsteps on the Sand," 1850

Good evening ...
Once again, I am late getting a post up and running. For a retired person, I sure seem to be busier than ever. LOL

Today started a new color challenge at The Outlawz Challenges.
It is my week to pick the challenge and I decided to go with a summery beach feel.
Here are the colors. You must use all 3 and there is an optional twist of by the Seaside.

Here is my card
