Day 10, Phoenix Paper Crafters Create Daily Challenge

I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren't trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom.
Umberto Eco
Today is day 10 of the Phoenix Paper Crafters Create Daily Challenge located HERE and I am playing along best I can this month.

I needed to make a birthday card for my Father-in-law so I flipped through my book and pulled out the pieces for card I had started but for some reason never finished.

I did have to find the die and cut out the hands to the clock since it appears that I did not cut those out. Just the gears.

The sentiment was part of larger sentiment but I just masked it off and stamped it out. A burnished brad to attach the hands to the face of the clock and some flicked Silk in silver and licorice for some added interested.

I love how this came together! Simple, but masculine.

Supplies
  • Repurposed item: card base
  • Brad from my stash
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Die unknown
  • India Ink from Memories
  • Sentiment from Stampin Up!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hurry up & Relax ...

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the blue sky, is by no means waste of time. ~John Lubbock, "Recreation," The Use of Life, 1894

The Character of a Man ...

“At the end of life, what really matters is not what we bought but what we built; not what we got but what we shared; not our competence but our character; and not our success, but our significance. Live a life that matters. Live a life of love.”
~ Author Unknown

Hi Everyone!
Today I am sharing a special card I made for a special person who recently retired from an amazing career as a teacher in the medical field.

This is a Bendi card. Every tutorial I had or could find was for an A2 size card so not only is this the first time I’ve made this style of card, I also had to do math (Blech!) to change the sizing to a 5 x 7 card.

Sadly, I also made a gift box to go along with the card, but I forgot to take pictures of that.

This picture is of the card folded into the diorama position

This picture shows the inside of the card

Supplies
Cardstock mostly from Stampin Up! with bits and pieces from my scrap bin.
Metallic cardstock is from Bazzill, The Dollar Tree and The Paper Temptress
Deer family border die from CottageCutz
Design paper from Prima Marketing set “Second Wind Collection” and Momenta as well as bits and pieces from my scrap bin
Grass border punch from Fiskars
India Ink from Memories
Label punches from Stampin Up!
Pine Tree die from Sizzix
Scenic Pines die from Crafters Companion
Sentiment from Repeat Impressions
Squirrel die from Gina Marie Designs
Sun Die from Gina Marie Designs
Sunny Days (clouds) dies from Spellbinders

Outlawz Clean & Simple Challenge: To the Dogs!

The dog is a yes-animal, very popular with people who can't afford to keep a yes-man.
~Robertson Davies

Good morning!
Today is the start of another Clean & Simple Challenge at The Outlawz Challenge Blog.

This week it's my turn to post so lets get started!

Did you know that July is National Hot Dog Month?

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council estimates that over seven billion hot dogs will be eaten by Americans between Memorial Day and Labor Day. During the July 4th weekend alone (the biggest hot-dog holiday of the year), 155 million are "wolfed" down!

That's a lot of hot dogs!

My challenge for you this week is to create a card or project featuring a dog or dog related item!
Just keep it CAS and have fun!

My A2 Card features Snoopy at his best .... napping! The image from Stampendous is called "Snoopy at the Beach". I colored the image with Prisma Color pencils and OMS then I added Aleens Paper Glaze to his sunglasses!

Additional Supplies:
Card stock, Thought bubble (Photo Album Fun) & Sentiment (unknown set) from Stampin Up!
"Flames" Ef from Darice

Thanks for stopping by!
Your comments make me happy. And as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
