Love is in the Air ...

Good morning!

Helping out the Festive Friday Challenge at The Outlawz Challenges this month which can be can be found HERE

This challenge requires your card/project to have sentiment on the front and that you follow one of the given themes.

For 2024, the Festive Friday Challenge is going to a no sponsor format but we will have surprise pop-up Sponsors on occasion, so be sure to follow us to catch the special challenges!

We are also retaining the Christmas theme for every challenge as well as adding several other themes you can choose from and which will change with each challenge.

Here is our current challenge list:
Christmas
Love is in the Air
Fun in the Snow
Something New

And here is my card.

Well, actually, my card set. I generally get busy with end of year / new year stuff and never seem to get my Valentines cards made and mailed in time so I opted for using the Love is in the Air theme and a Sheetload of card layout from Call me Craft Al which uses 6 x 6 papers and mkes 9 cards total.

The adorable bunny image is from a Stampin Up! set I found thrifting. It was brand new, never used which was amazing since the stamp is pre-2014 and is so stinking cute and works for so many things!

Supplies: (A2) 5.50 x 4.25
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio
  • Design paper from Honeybee Stamps (Hugs & Kisses)
  • Dies from Close to My Heart (Basic Ovals)

Birthdays! What music in the world! In these unresting times, when nothing intellectual, economic, social, political, seems stable; when customs and traditions hoary with age are mixed with explosive elements, this oldest of institutions is not in danger of yielding to destructive forces. ~J.R. Macduff, Birthdays, 1893

Good morning!
Today I am sharing a set of birthday cards I made for a Birthday group I am in.

I used a layout from Call me Crafty Al. The layout actually makes 6 cards from 2 pieces of 6x6 paper but I opted to add 2 more pieces from the same paper pack to create 12.

Get well Muzzy ...

In our busy 21st century life the one commodity that seems to be going extinct is time and we forget that healing takes time. ~Dr. Frank Lipman

Good morning!
Again, using some older design paper, I created a set of get-well cards. Never know when one is needed!

The image on this card to I have had for ages and I just love him and tend to use him when I need to make a get-well card even though I have other stamps that work as well! He’s great for paper piecing which I did with this card.

Merry Mousemas ...

Once again, my dear people,
Merry Christmas is here,
With holly and mistletoe
And its good will and cheer!
With its joys and its heartaches,
With its laughter and song,
It comes as a reminder
That time marches along.
~Gertrude Tooley Buckingham, "When Christmas Comes," 1940s

Good morning!
We have a new Challenge at The Outlawz Greeting Challenge located HERE.

This challenge is sponsored by Hetty Clare and will run through December 18th!

Greeting: Happy Holidays
Optional Twist: Add a bell (I did not add a bell, because, well I forgot!)

Using the adorable tag set, christmouse-gift-tags, I created some very simple, but cute Christmas cards based on a sketch from Call me Crafty Al. Not counting the bases, all 8 of these cards were made from 4 sheets of 6 x 6 design paper and 2 sheets of colored cardstock. This is also a great layout for scrap!

  • Sponsor image (christmouse-gift-tags) printed on Hammermill Color Card
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base) & Stampin Up!
  • Design Paper from Pine Cone Papers (Polkadots) and my scrap bin

With Sympathy ...

All say, "How hard it is that we have to die" — a strange complaint to come from the mouths of people who have had to live. ~Mark Twain

Good morning!
I usually keep a handful of Sympathy cards on hand because it seems the sad news comes in waves. I made these to replace the ones I had to send out.

I used a layout from Call me Crafty Al, but given that these are sympathy cards I decided to just use all white card stock and add minimal color.

It’s hard to tell in the photos but I changed to layout of the Tufted embossing folder with half of the cards having portrait emboss and the other half having a landscape emboss.

  • Supplies (Mini Slimline)
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio
  • Dies from Spellbinders (Classic Ovals, small and Scalloped Ovals, Large)
  • Dies from Honeybee Stamps (Coneflowers)
  • Embossing folders from Stampin Up! (Subtle, Tufted and Layered Leaves)
  • Ink from Stampin Up! and Versafine Claire
  • Layout from Call me Crafty Al of Cards #SUYSSept2022
  • Sentiment from Stampin Up! (Close to a Memory)

Oh Christmas Tree ...

Oh, the Christmas tree's my favorite
Of all the trees that grow.
~Laura F. Armitage, "My Favorite Tree," 1906

Good morning,
I finally went through a box of old Christmas cards I had from last Christmas as well as some a friend gave and proceeded to repurpose into new Christmas cards.

I had planned to take pictures of the cards before I start dismantling them but totally spaced so I have no before pictures. I also didn’t keep great track of what I used on all the cards I made so it could be hit or miss there!

I happened to have two identical cards that had a big Christmas tree on the front. So I used a die to cut a bunch of little Christmas trees out and used one of Crafty Al's wonderful Sheetlaod of cards layouts resulting in 6 lovely Christmas cards to add to my stash.
Supplies
Cardstock from The Paper Studio and scrap bin
Die from Gina Marie Designs (Stitched Circles)
Embossing folder from Stampin Up! (Timeworn type)
Sequins from my stash

Penguin love ...

I can understand people simply fleeing the mountainous effort Christmas has become... But there are always a few saving graces and finally they make up for all the bother and distress. ~May Sarton, 1971

Good morning, today I am sharing some more Christmas cards I made using some penguin stickers I received as a gift from someone and a layout from Sheetload of Cards by Call me Crafty Al…

These are so much cuter in person and the penguins are bright and glittery and I just wasn’t able to capture that in the photos. :O(
I also now noticed that I probably need to straighten out my penguins! LOL

  • Design Paper from Pebbles (Holly Jolly)
  • Penguin stickers unknown

Good morning, today I am sharing some more Christmas cards I made using some old Christmas cards and a layout from Sheetload of Card by Call me Crafty Al…

In this case, I used the old cards to cut out the flat back pieces of the bottlebrush trees then layered over them with gold and green cardstock. I know the colors are not traditional for Christmas but I really love how they turned out.

I love these bottlebrush trees and they bring back many memories from my childhood.

Fa-boo-lous Hallween!

Never let your kids buy an off-the-shelf Halloween costume. Forbid it, no matter how close you may be to the witching hour. Instead, help them make their own. Encourage them to use their imaginations and their ingenuity. Show them that what can be created is often better than what can be bought. And besides, don't the darkest, most frightening things live inside us anyway? ~Joe Kita, "What I Know" (The Best Halloween Costume), Wisdom of Our Fathers, 1999

First mini slimlines ...
