Inspired by a Song … Challenge 314

Good morning,

Today I am sharing my card for the Cut it Up Challenge. You can find the challenge HERE.

For these challenges, a die-cut is anything made with a manual or an electronic die-cutting machine. (Spellbinders, Cricut, MFT dies, Silhouette, etc.). Store bought die-cuts are also acceptable. Please note that handheld punches and/or paper-piecing’s DO NOT count as a die-cut

Our prompt this new challenge is “Inspired by a Song”

I happen to love pretty much any kind of music, but I especially love music from the 50’s and 60’s. Recently I was listening to oldies type music on YouTube and along came a song from Don Ho, He was a singer from Hawaii, extremely handsome and popular back in the day!

Anyway, the song was Tiny Bubbles which is basically a song about Champagne. Very fun song, so that is what inspired my card this challenge!

I used some ink and a blending brush on a scrap of the yellow cardstock then die cut that to had some interest to the swirls, I then inked around the card base as well as softly on the top layer.

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and Bazzill
  • Die is unknown
  • Embossing folder from Spellbinders (Balloons & Banners)
  • Ink from Stampin up! & Tsukineko (Versafine Clair)
  • Rhinestones from Stampin Up!
  • Sentiment from a Unity Stamps grab bag
Thanks for stopping by!

Get well Muzzy ...

In our busy 21st century life the one commodity that seems to be going extinct is time and we forget that healing takes time. ~Dr. Frank Lipman

Good morning!
Again, using some older design paper, I created a set of get-well cards. Never know when one is needed!

The image on this card to I have had for ages and I just love him and tend to use him when I need to make a get-well card even though I have other stamps that work as well! He’s great for paper piecing which I did with this card.

Mmmmm Cake ...

Inside me there's a thin person struggling to get out, but she can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake. ~Author unknown

Good morning!

She had to dance ...

She had to dance — she just had to!... The music seemed to move in her body, moving through her. She leaped high and flung out her arms and oh, how she smiled! As she danced, Clara forgot her sorrow. ~Amy Ehrlich, The Girl Who Wanted to Dance, 2009

Good morning,
Today I am sharing a card I created for a young lady that loves to dance. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and will be undergoing an aggressive treatment program so hopefully this card will be one of many that cheer her up!

The cat ballerina is from a very old Stampin Up! Set and I fall in love with the set every time I use it! So stinking cute! For this card, I used the kitty ballerina. I stamped her twice. Once on gray cardstopck and once on a piece of design paper scrap so I could do a bit of paper piecing. Before I added the design paper to the image I fussy cut it out and then used a gray ProMarker to add some shadows.

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Cardstock from Pen & Gear (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Circle die from Make It
  • Design paper Unknown and Close to My Heart
  • Gold metallic cardstock from my scrap bin
  • Image from Stampin Up! (Beautiful Ballerinas)
  • Ink from Momento an Stampin Up!
  • ProMarkers
  • Rhinestones from Recollections
  • Sentiment from Studio G

Another Guy Birthday ...

In childhood, we yearn to be grown-ups. In old age, we yearn to be kids. It just seems that all would be wonderful if we didn't have to celebrate our birthdays in chronological order. ~Robert Brault, rbrault.blogspot.com

Hi!

While cleaning off my craft table I actually found this card that I’d finished several months ago. I had originally made it for my son’s birthday but when I could not find it, I made a him a different one. (Yes it was that bad – don’t judge me).

I love the images from Unity Stamps because they are great for paper piecing, if you like to do that sort of thing (which I do!). And no matter the design paper I use they always turn out amazing looking!

For this card I stamped Brian Guy onto cream cardstock and die cut it out. Then I did a bit pf masking so I could use a brush and add the ink around the image to make it pop. One done, I stamped the image again onto my design paper, fussy cut everything out then paper pieced both the shirt and the jeans. Usually, I just do the shirt but I found a scrap of design paper in my scrap box that looks like denim and of course I was like ooooo jeans!

Supplies
  • Banner punch from Stampin Up!
  • Card candy from my stash
  • Cardstock from Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from Prima Marketing and my scrap stash
  • Embossing folder from Spellbinders
  • Image and sentiment from The Unity Stamp Company
  • Ink from Close to My Heart and Ranger
  • Stencil from Stampers Anonymous
  • Twine from my stash

I made 4 cards today using a fun sentiment set called It’s a Mug Hug … so many great sentiments along with a fun mug image which is perfect for paper piecing!

I did leave the fluff on mine plain because I have still trying to decided it I want to enhance it with white flower soft or liquid diamonds ...

Also, I did manage to get all 4 images from one 6 x 6 sheet of design paper. I just used my stamping platform and turned to cardstock for each image. Worked perfectly!

  • Cardstock from Pen+Gear
  • Design paper from Unity Stamp Company
  • Memories India Ink
  • Red Manga Pen

Hot Diggity Dog!

We long for an affection altogether ignorant of our faults. Heaven has accorded this to us in the uncritical canine attachment. ~George Eliot

Sharing another card made with the Stampin Up! Design paper pack “Playful Pets”. These cards are going into my doggo donation pile for Gilbert Dogs 24/7 for them to sell during an upcoming fundraiser.

This card involves a small bit of paper piecing. I stamped the dog image on gray cardstock then fussy cut out. I also stamped the image on white paper and fussy cut the party hat and eye.
I used a tiny pom pom which I rolled around in red ink for the top of the party hat.

Phoenix Paper Crafters Paper Pack Challenge: Dogs

They never talk about themselves but listen to you while you talk about yourself, and keep up an appearance of being interested in the conversation. ~Jerome K. Jerome

Phoenix Paper Crafters is running another fun challenge this month and I thought I would take a shot at this one too as it is simply picking a paper pad and making cards/projects with that specific pad of paper.

I chose to use this fun paper pack called Playful Pets from Stampin Up! to make cards for the doggie day care I take my pups too. They are always having little fund or food raisers for local rescues, veteran service animals etc., and I figured they could sell them and make a little extra money.

My goal is to make at least 2 cards a day.

Day 9, Phoenix Paper Crafters Create Daily Challenge

The true peace of God begins at any spot a thousand miles from the nearest land. ~Joseph Conrad

Today is day 9 of the Phoenix Paper Crafters Create Daily Challenge located HERE and I am playing along best I can this month.

For my card today I pulled out a card front I made that required some paper piecing. This is actually the pieces left from another card I did a while ago. I'm thinking I didn't do anything with this because a section torn out, which means I must have damaged it and didn’t have the patience or time to figure out a fix.

It really was just a simple fix with the sentiment cover the damaged part. So now I have a nice masculine birthday card to add to my file.

Supplies
  • Repurposed item: card front made with sailing ship
  • Card stock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from Colorbok
  • Die from Printable Heaven (?)
  • Embossing folder from Stampin Up!
  • Ink from Stampin Up!
  • Sentiment from Stampin Up!
  • Silk from Fun Stampers Journey
Thanks for stopping by!

Day 2, Growing in Unity 2019

Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life. ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Good Morning!
Today is my day two for sharing with you a card I made using a Unity Stamp. This card was made for a family friend who celebrated turning 90 years young! Since he has such a great sense of humor, I thought Brian Guy would be a great image for his card.

I did a bit of paper piecing for the shirt and pants by stamping the image on some bits of design paper I had in my scrap box. Then I trimmed them up and attached to another image stamped on white card stock.

Supplies for 5 x 7 card

  • Image “Brian Guy from Unity Stamp Company
