Monochromatic kind of day ...

Good morning!
A new Color Challenge has started at The Outlawz Challenges. You can check it out HERE

Our challenge this month is monochromatic.
I always find working with monochromatic colros to be very interesting. Sometimes I'm good with the overall way it turns out and others I struggle to not had other colors to add more interest so its a gamble when I ply with one color family.

I generally don't use design paper, sticking with solid cardstock and inks but I'm working on using my DP and I have a bunch of Stampin Up! In color papers that I've had forever that makes it super easy to create monochromatic projects with interest.

Here I created a masculine sunburst card using design paper in the color mellow moss from Stampin Up!

However, I feel that I could have made my strips a bit wider because I think this looks a bit more busy than I wanted but over all I'm not unhappy with it given that I don't do this card technique often.

Supplies (5 x 7)
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio
  • Design paper from Stampin Up!
  • Die is unbranded
  • Sequins from my Stash
  • Stamps from Stampin Up! (Antique Auto) & (Teeny Tiny Wishes)

Colors of the Sun(flower) ...

Colors of the summer sun illuminate the meadow. Gold, the massed gold of hawkweed; the burnished gold of black-eyed Susans; the delicate, demure gold of stargrass, cousin of the daffodil; and the sun's very rays captured by the field's wild sunflowers. ~Hal Borland, Seasons, 1973

Hi everyone!
Today I am sharing a card I created for our Color Challenge at The Outlawz Challenges using an image from our Sponsor, SheepSki Designs

This fortnight we are using a color wheel to find our color of choice.

For my card, I used yellow from the top half with Blue & Green from the lower half, finishing the selection

The design paper on this card is actually some paper from some note "scrolls" my daughter bought me years ago. Never use them until on day I saw one of them had the exact paper/colors I needed for a card I was making. This paper is from another scroll I took apart. It is actually quite stunning and rich looking IRL.

I fussy cut the sunflowers out the tucked the stems under the oval to give a nice 3-d look to the image.

Supplies used
  • Image, Sunflowers Image 112 printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from my stash and Stampin Up! (Marbleous)
  • Glimmer paper from Neenah
  • Ink from Stampin Up!
  • Nuvo clear crystal drops
  • Oval die from Precious Merieke (Winter Wonderland Oval)
  • ProMarkers
  • Sentiment from Close to My Heart (Wordfetti)

Kolton's Graduating?!

You are educated. Your certification is in your degree. You may think of it as the ticket to the good life. Let me ask you to think of an alternative. Think of it as your ticket to change the world.
Tom Brokaw

Good morning everyone.
I hope your day is going great. Today we are heading off to celebrate the High School Graduation of our Nephew.

Feeling kinda old today as I shake my head trying to figure out where the days have gone that I missed his growing from a little tow headed darling to a big strapping young man.

Here is the card I made for him.
Details can be found in Through the Craft Room Door Magazine scheduled for release on May 4th.

Thanks for stopping by!
