Hope I will keep it up with all these Christmas activities coming up...PLUS meeting deadlines and targets at work.

i.d. pics

Honey says, KAYA!

Here is the LO I made for Kaya week 2. I really enjoyed doing this LO. It was quick, very refreshing, and a first for me as I haven't done anything with this much negative space, LOL.

These are school ID pictures of my sons and I find that these pictures capture their personality quite accurately. The older one is serious and sulky while the younger one is charming and bubbly - complete opposites.

Journaling:

Today you are you that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is youer than you. - Dr. Seuss

Materials Used:
MM ledger bookkeeper pp, Sassa pocket full of rosies border, MM paint, AC thickers, Fancy pants rub-ons and button.

About ME:
Hi, I'm Honey, 30 years old. Mother to Adi and Anton and wife to Louis. I started scrapbooking in July 2007 and have been addicted to it ever since. It was actually my husband who pushed me into this craft. Well, sort of. He has been nagging me for years to put our children's pictures in albums and me being me, I decided to take it a step further just to shut him up, LOL. Well, the single step further developed into a lot of steps forward and that's how I got into scrapbooking!

Hand in Hand

Susie says, KAYA!

Negative space is not my style as i want to put more pictures as much as possible. Not so happy with the outcome, maybe I will put more photos later. :-) Though I found it easier and faster to finish.

Journaling:

Pinky

Lee says, KAYA!

I have precious few photos of myself as a child. I am the 7th of 8 children so I think by the time I was born, my parents had had enough of taking photos. :-) I couldn't relate much to the photos, I was too young to have memories, so the journaling is short and written in third person. Note to self: ask family for childhood stories before they are completely forgotten.

These are the original photos, thus the small size. Since I am not inclined to scan them and print them to a bigger scale, this challenge is perfect. While I like how it came out, part of me is still thinking, "sayang ang space. I could put more photos there..."

Journaling:
The story goes that when she was born, she was so pink, they called her - Pinky.

Materials Used:
CS - Bazill, The Paper Company; PPS - We 'R' Memory Keepers; Ink - Clearsnap (cotton and orchid); Ribbon - unknown; Alphabet - American Crafts Thickers; Flowers - Prima; Brads - Making Memories; Adhesive - Kokuyo, Saunders; Puncher - Fiskars.

Process:
Lots of self-control required. It helped to keep saying to oneself, "less is more...less is more..." LOL.

About ME:
I have been incredibly busy the past few weeks, so I am thankful for this 1-a-week-challenge, as I am "obliged" to scrap, fulfilling my "one LO a week" goal. I wish I could scrap more, but I just couldn't help it. There just isn't enough time in a day. Read more about me at
The Armchair Scrapper.

Smiley

Zabeth says, KAYA!

I made two layouts for the challenge but I think this layout is much prettier than the other one. Anyway thank you Marj for the 2nd challenge for I was able to use all of my remaining stash.

Here is the layout while the other one is in my blog. Thank you for looking.

Pieces of Me

Marissa says, KAYA!

This is probably the style for me - clean lines. I love beautiful patterned papers and it hurts me so much to cut them up to pieces. So most of them end up untouched on the shelves. This picture was taken at the back seat of the Toy Truck on our trip to Toronto. Of all the pictures we took this is the one I will treasure forever.

Journaling:

Supplies:

Background paper [Basic Grey's Granola]; strips of paper [Basic Grey's 8x8 Boxer pad]; crocheted doily, flower [Prima], journaling tag [Making Memories' Note Worthy], rhinestone stickers, glass beads [Bead Gallery], hemp cord [Jewelry Design], journal tag [My Mind's Eye Laundry Line]; thicker foam dots used under the photo [United Manufacturer's Supplies]; thinner foam squares used on the title [Miss Elizabeth]; permanent orange marker [Bic]

Techniques:

I cut papers to strips, threaded beads with hemp and knotted the hemp to keep the beads in place then wrapped the cord around the picture, doily is held in place by sewing parts of it to the paper and also with the use of thin foam squares; title was handwritten on tiny squares with doodles all around to define the edges. Since I placed one end of the photo on top of the doily, I used thick foam dots [DH gave me some of his photo-framing supplies] to even out the height of the other end of the photo.

About Me:
AKA the CraftFairy... I enjoyed doing this challenge because it gave me the opportunity to use supplies from another craft I love to do - jewelry making. I think I'm going to incorporate supplies from my other crafts into scrapbooking. Are they acid- and lignin-free? I don't really care - not anymore. With the technology we have these days the photos are easily replaceable should they fade in a few years. As long as the pictures are saved in discs and the discs are safe... memories will still last forever.

Special Symbol

Khei says, KAYA

I was totally clueless on challenge #2... Not that I don't know how to make a layout on negative or white space but I had a hard time to do a beautiful yet simple layout applying it. I decided to scrap a photo of my gift for my Hunei on our engagement anniversary next month. (You can view the post in my blog here) I wanted to focus the be on my photo so I used a black background, inked the edges and just add the title.

Needless to say, the folio has long been filled up. And as with the previous year, he continues to bring me to all my scrapbook events, including shopping. Explore

Roxannee says, KAYA!

I love this picture of Ethan so much...at the same time it makes me melt inside because it reminds me that one day, he'll be able to leave our nest and explore the world. A cautious boy that he is, I was glad that he decided to try climbing up trees. I remember him saying " Look Mom, I can swing in this tree! I'm a big boy now!"

I used the bird as a symbol for exploring the world, clock because time flies and one day he'll soon be on his own,& the star as his guide in whatever he does. It is not only the first time I made a layout with this picture. I reckon it's one of those shots that you can extract a lot of memories. And I thought that Winnie the Pooh's words to Christopher Robin was spot on for the way I feel with it.

Bella

Marjorie says, KAYA!
(better late than never)

This should have been posted when i issued challenge #2. But something came up and i couldn't, for the life of me, scrap a page for this. I finished this layout Tuesday but wasn't able to post it right away. My younger daughter's name is ISABELLA. Her nickname was supposed to be Bella but her Ate would pronounce it as BEA. And it remained that way. But after reading Twilight, i now intend to call her BELLA.

Live, laugh, love, DARE and I Love You

Barbie says, KAYA!

I always thought I used a lot of negative space before I tried this challenge. Was I ever wrong! While I may suck at this now, I believe it's something I will keep trying my hand at in the future.

It's our habit to take pictures of our feet in every new place we visit. It's part documentary, part reminder to ourselves to remember to dare to be more adventurous and make time in our lives for exploration and fun. The journaling refers to the effort to make a difference in the world where we live, a concept that is very important to our faith.

Journaling:
The world is HUGE, and we're so tiny in comparison that sometimes it feels like we do nothing SIGNIFICANT. But that's not true. Every choice matters. We alter reality with every breath. We impact the universe simply by existing. We owe it to ourselves to be fully alive, truly human. It's a RESPONSIBILITY to be all that we can be, because we have been blessed with potential, free will, and the power to create a better world for everyone.

Materials Used:
DCWV cardstock and pp, MM travel stickers, Sakura pens, EK Chalklets, Darice metal embellishment, MM rub-ons
