Magnificent Mayon

Barbie says KAYA!

Whew! The final challenge, what a ride! These pages seemed to resist getting made - the photos were lost, then the newly-developed ones got forgotten overnight at the developing shop. Then the original idea was UGLY. Then the cat stepped in the paint and did his own rendition of the LO. To top it all off, I had holiday baking to do.

ARGH!

Finally, reworked twice, a spread about our 2003 trip to see the Mayon volcano - a trip my siblings and I were not even excited about until we saw the perfect cone rising in the distance.

It may look really simple, but most of the time, that's how my pages look.

Xmas 2000

Lee says, KAYA!

Whew! Talk about beating the clock. I had some difficulty with this challenge because my printer ran out of magenta ink so I couldn't use a sketch, as I usually do when working with many photos. So I had to look into my photo box for pictures I can use for a spread, and without any sketch, just cut and pasted, punched and pasted. It doesn't matter if it worked --- I scrapped a double-page, something I haven't done for more than a year.

But thanks to Marj for this challenge, I finally got to scrap old Christmas photos. I am now inspired to complete a Family Christmas album from 1997 - 2007 before December 25. One year down, nine to go. :-) Wish me luck.

My apologies for the photo, had to do this in a hurry and under low light.

Journaling:
This is Sarah's first Christmas. And Diego's first to have to share the presents under the tree. But he didn't mind. In fact, he happily helped Sarah open her gifts. I think Sarah knew something momentous was happening, but she was just as happy eating the gift wrappers as she was chewing her new toys.

About ME:
I am Lee, a bit harassed right now cause we just got home from the opening of the Marikina Christmas Festival Water Fantasy (you have to bring your family to the Marikina Riverbank to see the amazing displays.) I left my LO half finished this afternoon cause DH promised me we were gonna come home early. But alas! We had too much fun and now I'm paying for it. But as Shakespeare said, all's well that ends well. Know more about me at The Armchair Scrapper.

Grow

Bjay says, KAYA!

The last time I did multiple 12x12 spreads in one album was in the year 2000 when I made our informal wedding album complete with our love history (hah!). since it's been 8 years ago, this challenge scared the wits out of me. but hey, I managed *grin*

My friend Ems has been asking me to make her youngest daughter's baby spread. So here it is, Alexa on her 12th month. By the way, the cute bub is also my inaanak.

About ME:
Having an almost completed 8.5x11 album, it was so much fun and easier to do, I might do some more...hmmm, on the second thought, it might take awhile since i have a lot of 12"s, 8"s, 6"s and a couple of 9's albums stashed all over waiting to be used. So I'll let my dearest girlfriend, Bjay still be the queen of 8.5x11! ;o)

Martian Kid

Gracie says, Kaya!

2 page LOs are sort of challenging for me. I have only done one of them way back in July during the mini scrap jam ate Marisa organized here in Angeles. This final challenge for Kaya 19 helped me create another one. I do have a hard time scrapping multiple photos and double pages so it took me a while to come up with something for this challenge. But it was very timely because I just had Marcie's Halloween photos printed last week so I used them for this LO. Thank you for extending the deadline and thank you Marj for all the inspiring challenges. I had fun during the whole stretch of the Kaya 19 challenges and there goes 4 new pages added to my album! 2 more and my album will be filled up. =)

It's your second time to join in the Nepo Mall's trick-or-Treat & costume party. Mommy had to improvise a quick costume this time. Using the clothes lola bought you, a few silver paper plates, aluminum foil, styro balls, tape and an old head band... the little martian kid was formed! I also used your floatie for your own space ship. You were quite in a bad mood that afternoon but you were still the cutest little martian kid the crowd ever saw. =)

Nat's First Field Trip

Janis says, KAYA!

I was contemplating of not doing this last challenge - - I thought I ran out of time. But the thought of not having that raffle stub to get the chance of winning that loot made me reconsider. So, against hubby’s tantrums (it was 1am, December 1 - - no other time, honey), I did this quick LO.

I’ve been saving the pictures to do a mini-album for my daughter, but this challenge came along. Maybe next time, if I find that time. At the end, matting saved the day.

A Poem for You

Helga says, Kaya!

Journaling:
“IF” is a poem that has inspired your Daddy…Now I pass it on to you MY SON. May this poem help and guide you as you face the OBSTACLES OF LIFE.

If
Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

My 25th Birthday

Diane says, KAYA!

The last time I made a two pages is last year I guess. This is a hard one for me. I am not a two pager person nor a multi photo scrapper. So Becky Higgins' Sketches is a great help to me. I am glad to scrap a two pager again. I guess the next one will be a year after again. hihihihi!

Home

Marissa says, KAYA!

I am so proud of DH and DS for building this house from scratch! No blue prints, no instructions, just good old geometry, trigonometry, and mathematics. It must have taken me twice as long to plan this layout (^.^)

The house is 6' high in the center from the floor to the roof [that's upstairs!] The plan was to have just one floor, but then there is this space underneath, so DH added another floor where the kids dined. There are 2 plexi-glass walls on both sides of the front door so there'd be more light inside. The front door was taken out when someone's fingers got caught in it when the kids raced upstairs and closed the door behind them. There are 2 windows, one on each side of the house. DH added a regular stairway so the littlest ones could safely go up and down the steps.
Later on, he added a back porch so there'd be more room. There were Summer days when DD and I took our blankies and pillows and took a nap in the playhouse. Presko!

I apologize that the pictures were taken in an angle. The flash keeps reflecting on the pictures and since it is now 10:28 PM where I am, there is poor lighting in the house and I don't have time to scan and stitch four scans together. TFL.

Journaling:

You couldn't wait for it to get finished. I couldn't wait to decorate it. Papa and Kuya Lennart worked all Summer to complete it in time for your birthday in the Fall. You chose the colors and even helped paint it.

You entertained and welcomed guests with pride. You were a gracious hostess!

Then all of a sudden, just like the baby shoes and toddler clothes, you out grew it. But you loved it! This playhouse you called "HOME".

Techniques:
Nothing much, just cutting, glueing, distressing cutouts with fluid chalk.

Supplies used:
Papers and cutouts [the Paper Studio]; birthstone gem stickers blue zircon [Martha Stewart];
flowers [Prima]; heart charm [Blue Moon Beads]; fluid chalk Chestnut Roan [ColorBox]; journaling tag [Making Memories]; foam squares [Miss Elizabeth]; chipboard alpha [ChipChatter/Pressed Petals]

About Me:
I am sentimental with memories like these. I plan to make a complete scrapbook of how this playhouse was made. I took lots of pictures - from the time the posts were put up to the time when a little flower garden was built around the house.

Idol 2 Moments

Issa says, Kaya!

Kaya ko ba ang 2-pager layout? I think this is my 3rd attempt to create a 2-pager layout and I must say it's still a new thing for me since I don't do this very often and now, I am starting to enjoy it. I was able to scrap my Idol 2 moments, I want to do it so everytime I will visit my pages I will remember all the experiences and "nerbyos factor" of the Scrappin' Moms' Idol. I had a hard time putting the colors together, I just hope I did justice to this week's challenge of Marj... here goes!

Journaling: it was another season of the Scrappin' Moms' Idol... I joined again for the primary reason of supporting the Moms and secondly, to learn more techniques and gain more knowledge. Again, I made it to the Top 10 and unexpectedly, joined Donna Espiritu and Cookie Aguilar for the Top 3 scrappers. Making it to the Top 3 was my greatest achievement in this Idol Challenge. My good friend Cookie was crowned "the Idol II". It was another experience which I learned so much...as in!

Materials Used: DCWV cardstocks, Fancy Pants pps, Scenic Route pps, assorted buttons, Prima flowers, bling, brad, DMC threads, BG mini momos chipboard letters, Ranger glossy accents, glittered glue, Colorbox fluid chalk ink, corrugated board and Brillance ink.

Techniques Used: My favorite... paper tearing and inking! Paper sewing, hand cutting and painting.

These guys (I miss)

Cel says, KAYA!

I am so thankful to Marj for the four challenges, I was able to complete 4 layouts, and a 2-pager at that! This is my first ever time to make a 2-page layout. And I'm glad I did because I've been meaning to make one since I've got a lot of photos for a single event such as this one here. I used a cream cardstock because the photos were dark and busy, and I kept the embellishments to a minimum.

Journaling:
It's been two weeks since my last day at P&A. And since it's Thanksgiving in the U.S. and therefore also holiday at Shell, I decided tonight will be my sorta farewell party. Only a few people were invited. Only those that I'm really friends with. Not saying that I only have a few friends at P&A, but because almost all my friends there have already gone to other companies. The friends you keep at P&A are the ones who will make you stay. It's really the kind of people and the environment that will keep you from resigning. And so I miss these guys. The frequent coffee breaks, the chats, parties like these during summer outings... I will definitely miss. And thank you for all the wonderful memories at P&A.

Materials Used:
CS {Provo Craft}, PP {Arctic Frog}, stickers {7 gypsies}, alpha {AC Thickers}, stamps {alpha-EK Success, Photolog & All of us-Fontwerks, Good times & date-October Afternoon, journaling lines-Fancy Pants}, journaling note {Elle's Studio}.

About ME:
I am a senior associate in a public accounting firm. I became addicted to this hobby in 2007. Most of my layouts are about my friends, family, and me and bf of more than 10 years, Ivan. I am also very interested in photography and plan to join a beginners class in the near future. I hope I'd get to know you all and attend the EBs hopefully if its close to Quezon City. First Haircut

Marian says, KAYA!

Journalling: You were born with fine thin hair. It seemed like it wasn't growing or getting thick. The only evidence of growth we could see was the little lock of bangs in the middle of your forehead. It was not enough to hold in a baby clip so you looked quite messy.
So at 11 and a half months, mommy took you to Cuts For Tots in Glorietta Mall for your first haircut. You sat in the toy car seat watching Barney while they cut your hair. You looked quite neat after but there really wasn't a big change when we look at the before and after photos.

Materials: Fabriano CS, patterned papers from Fancy Pants Crush Line (In Love, First Date,Twitterpated & Head over Heels), Scenic Route Chipboard, Collage Press letter stickers,MM mini letters, Tsukineko ink, Ranger Sepia Accents,Prima self adhesive die cut, All About Scrapbooking bling, Doodlebug brown glitter

Techniques: simple cut and paste, outlining center of flowers with Sepia Accents, sprayed the Prima diecut with Glimmer Mist and Radiant Rain,painted the chipboard brown then added glitter,cut out some flowers from the patterned paper and curled the edges

About ME:

After going through a series of different arts and crafts, I have finally settled with stamping, cardmaking and scrapbooking.
