Send in the Clown

Marix says, KAYA!

I did a couple of LOs using fabric a long time ago. Using fabric also means stitching for me but I've been lazy to sew on my pages which I used to enjoy. Thanks to Yoyin's fabric challenge my sewing machine is no longer a huge paper weight in my scrap area *LOL*

Happy 2nd year anniversary to Kaya!!! kudos to the mods and more power!

me time

Marix says, KAYA!

I used to do hybrid when I started scrapbooking, though I didn't know it was called hybrid back then. But due to the wide array of ready made elements such as journaling blocks, transparencies, rubons etc., playing with my computer seems irrelevant. Thanks to Alby's challenge I was able to create another hybrid LO which is long overdue, it's not only fun but brings out the scrappers flexibility and creativity. This an old photo which I think suits my thoughts for now. Journaling:
With the fast-paced life I'm currently in... tons of errands and so many things going on in my head... it's time to stop, breathe, sit back, relax and spend some me time.

Materials used:
Traditional - Kraft paper, K&Co tag, AC vinyl thickers, Prima flowers, All about scrapbooking gems & trim (leaves), vintage lace, Heidi Swapp stamp(chandelier), Versafine black, Versacolor violet, Gelly roll pens
Digital elements - Spring time fever by Tia Bennett from TwoPeas

Techniques\Process:
1. Journaling was typed in the photo using Adobe Photoshop
2. Frame stamp was stretched and printed in kraft paper then colored with gel pens
3. Bird with time stamp was printed in a transparency and attached to the LO

Hi Marix here, struggling but coping. Got a blog here.

in my heart... in my soul

Marix says, KAYA!

I've been a slack in joining Kaya for the past months. I've been telling myself I have time since it's a month long challenge but only end up doing nothing, so this month I sat down and started to create an LO. I've been using songs in my LOs so no sweat on that, though I love to stitch, I hardly do it by hand so I challenge myself to go handmade this time. Though it's quite simple I still enjoyed the process, thanks Ms Marissa for such a heartwarming challenge.

Journaling:
You're the meaning in my life
you're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
you're the inspiration.

I chose this song by Chicago/Peter Cetera because indeed my family is my inspiration, though I'm living away from home my heart and my thoughts are always with them.

Materials:
Papers: WeRMemory Keepers; Chipboards: Queen&Co (alpha), K&Co(round alpha), Prima (heart); Tab: Prima(panda); Metal sticker: Making Memories (my family); Pin: Fancy Pants; Stamp: Love, Elsie; eyelets; embroidery floss; gems; ribbon; stickles

When I came home tonight I saw this lilac satin ribbon lying in my table, I said to myself I still have time and gave it a try... if I don't make it on time it's still ok at least I have another page to tuck inside my album. But I made it on time afterall, here's my deadline beater LO.

Marix says, KAYA!

I've been wanting to create a mini album for my cousin but have been putting it off for some reason, thanks to Ms. Marian for this challenge, I finally completed this project! Our Family

Marix says, KAYA!

Finally, I'm back at Kaya! I have missed a couple of challenges and I have no excuse. I was on a hunt for a wall clock, a cheap wall clock, ever since Cookie posted the challenge. I was afraid I would mess up so I thought I should experiment with a cheap clock, fair enough? hehehe So glad I didn't mess up and my housemates even asked me to make for them! Thanks for this challenge Cookie! This one is a gift for my brother :)

Materials:

We R Memory keepers pp; MME, Fancy pants, MM and K&CO rub-ons; chatterbox number stickers; stickles (turquoise, platinum, candy cane); brads; glitter; Ranger glossy accents, doily

Techniques:
After adhering the rub-ons I applied the stickles.
For the glittered brads, I applied glossy accents and dipped the brads onto the bottle of glitters, you can also do the same technique for flock or micro beads for bigger brads.

Being single and loving it?

Marix says, KAYA!
Happy Anniversary to Kaya!

This is another challenge for me as I was not born a writer nor a dancer *lol*, nonetheless I didn't bat an eyelash on what to write the moment I saw this challenge. I've been writing about this topic in my blogs so it kind of sunk into me so I was able to write the journaling in 10 minutes. I only had trouble finding a photo, not sure if this fits the theme but it captured my sense of free spirit or something like that (just ignore the flabby belly). Finally I was able to scrap it to remind me of what I currently feel just in case I get married someday *fingers crossed*. I also chose the butterflies, not only because they are pretty *I'm not saying I am hahaha* but because they also symbolizes freedom and fun.

Hidden Journaling:
I'm turning 35 years old this year, still single and very much available. Ever since my elder brother got married 12 years ago I have always been asked with this passe question, "How about you? when are you going to settle down?", year after year whenever I go back home for a vacation, relatives and friends and even my mother kept bugging me about my lovelife. Email after email I start with something like this, "How's life? Me? Still the same, single as ever", I point it out before they even ask. My friends are giving birth one after another, a few of their kids are already in highschool and one of my goddaughter even joked that she'll settle down before me. Darn those kids! *lol* But it's true, with the way my lifestyle is going I think I'm more than half way of being a spinster. I know that your partner in life wouldn't just drop from heaven, I know that I should also be taking intiatives, don't you think I didn't try? My dating days are over... for now, unless of course somebody drop from heaven. *lol* And no, I'm not stopping my friends and family to bug me about my lovelife, it's good to hear that they care about me, I do get affected sometimes, all of us have those sensitive moments right? But for now I'm contented that I'm still single, I may not be always loving it but I'm taking it one day at a time.

Materials:
SEI, HOTP, MM pp; KI lace cs; MR trinket butterflies; K&CO, Doodlebug, AC letter stickers;

To Colin, aged 11, to be read on your engagement

Marix says, KAYA!

I initially have second thoughts joining the challenge, I thought it was too personal plus I have a weakness in journaling and most of all writing letters. But I don't want to miss any Kaya challenge and as challenger Ms Lee mentioned it can be humorous. As long as I write from the heart and it conveys the real emotion I'm feeling then it should be stress free. So I did try to write a mix of lighthearted and humorous letter to my nephew/godson Colin who just graduated from primary school. The design was a scraplift from Keisha Campbell's LO. Thanks Lee for this one of a kind and memorable challenge that I intend to do from time to time.

Dear Colin,

First of all congratulations! *sana lng tlga ndi ka napikot sa gwapo mong yan hahahaha* I remember the time that your Dad, my Kuya told me he's getting married. His face is shining with joy although a bit worried because you know how scary your Lola is hehehe, pero feel ko tlga ang happiness na nararamdaman nya. I was happy for him but a bit scared as well for the big responsibility ahead of him. Settling down, being a husband and a father is no easy task. But he did it! He turned out to be a great provider, a wonderful father to you and a loving husband to your Mom. And as you take this new chapter in your life, I hope your Dad will be your inspiration to a blissful marriage.

Hugs and kisses,
Ninang Marix

PS
Please go and multiply, padamihin mo ang lahi natin hahaha

I almost thought hindi ko kaya *lol*, but finally I did it. Since I'm new to digi, I make it a point to learn a new technique for each digi LO I make. This time I tried paper tearing which is quite tricky and doesn't look good as I want it to be. But I did it anyway ;) Thanks to Diane for this challenge and to Danielle for the yummy digi kit.

I did an LO a week after the challenge was posted but I didn't like how it turned out.
