Materials Used:

Techniques:
Nothing fancy about this layout. I just put the pregnancy test kit inside the vellum envelope.

About ME:
I am Geng, 33 y/o mother of 2 boys who got addicted to scrapping since I gave birth to my first son. I never thought I would be hooked this much. Visit my gallery at http://community.webshots.com/user/gfelimon.

Full Circle

Jenn says, KAYA!

Just a simple layout to commemorate the event of all events (so far) – watching the concert of my most favorite band of all time: Hanson.

Journaling Reads:
“I have been a Hanson fan since summer of 1997. Like any fan, I, too, have collected different Hanson memorabilia and merchandise, to the point that most of my college classmates have teased me being *overly obsessed.* Can they blame me? Not only do these brothers possess good looks, they also have great talent. Of course, I have also dreamt of
seeing them performing live here in my own country. That dream came true in 2004, when finally, the brothers went here in the Philippines as part of their Underneath World Tour. I was overjoyed when I heard the news, and although I bought my tickets late, I managed to get a center seat. I may be in the tenth row from the stage, but I felt I was sitting on the best seat in the house. Funny though, I was the only one wearing an office uniform in the concert. =) Seeing them personally and hearing them perform live was one of the best things that could happen to me as a fan. It gave me that overwhelming feeling that will forever remain in my memory. Being on the same building with them, sharing the same oxygen, and singing along with them completed me as a fan. It was that day that my being Hansonite has became ...”

Materials Used:
Ephemera – newspaper article, concert ticket
Patterned Papers – HOTP more ephemera papers, Provo Craft, DCWV
Cardstocks – Miss Elizabeth’s
Flower Stickers – Jolee’s Boutique
Font – American Typewriter-Light (Journaling), CafĂ© Rojo (title)
Others – paper flower, film template

Special thanks goes out to my co-Hansonite, Mina, whom I met during the concert. She sent the pictures thru my e-mail address three days after the concert, as I didn’t bring any camera on the event.

About Me:
A 27-year old lady who has been into crafts since high school but just officially dived into real scrapbooking September of 2006. Even though I think I am probably the poorest of all the scrapbookers here in the Philippines, I don't see financial constraints as hindrance for me to create layouts about my life’s memories. Actually, with the very few materials that I have, I am now about to fill my second album. Style wise, I love to do multiple pictures in my layouts, and as much as possible, I want to put as much memories from a life’s event into one layout. Aside from scrapbooking, I am also into cross-stitch, card making (though I only create cards for select people), and altering boxes to accommodate my knick-knacks and old letters from friends. To know more of me and my scrapbooking, please check my scrapblog at: http://janu-jenn.blogspot.com or head on to my personal site at: http://janujennifer.multiply.com

Little Teacher Award

Ems says, KAYA!

I planned to really incorporate Gaby's school knick-knacks/awards (if any) in her school albums, either by taking photos of them or simply slipping them in the lay-out. The first one (which I already scrapped) was a certificate of her participation in a summer program (her first to attend a school). It was photographed with her holding it. The second was her award during the moving up day from Nursery to Kinder. I was tickled pink to know what her special award was because it was an affirmation on how she is becoming as a person. Can't help but use it in our Kaya Challenge this month.

Journaling:
We are so happy and proud of your special award. It really proves that you have a helpful and kind spirit. May you continue to be giving, ever ready to lend a helping hand.

Too bad we were not able to snap photos during your “moving-up day”. After one shot of this blurry photo, our digital camera has gone kaput---Nevertheless, this single photo and the certificate are enough to make the memory of that day remain in my heart forever…
--- Mommy ---

Materials Used:
DCWV & Fabriano CS; Rob&Bob PPS; Heidi Swapp flowers; Colorbox chipboard; MM staple wire; ric-rac, ribons, fibers and eyelets; Colorbox ink

About ME:
I'm Ems Fronda, working wife to a wonderful hubby, Oliver & Mommy to a beautiful girl, Gaby and another one on the way (after almost 7 years). Started scrapbooking when I was in High School using magazine cut-outs, ordinary stickers & other knick-knacks. Got hooked on "real" traditional scrapbooking in 2003 with the push and shove of my dear friend, Joanne Yap (thanks dear). Since then, the bug has never left me. I would say my style is clean and mean but would love to develop from there. I envy those scrapbookers who can just dump a lot of patterned papers and embellishments in a single LO and still look clean and not busy. Since I'm a working Mom, I'm ecstatic just to finish 1 or 2 LO/s a month. My subject is mostly my daughter Gaby so I'm glad that she'll have a sibling soon (another backlog on the way too).

USA - My First Trip

Chay says, KAYA!

Journaling:
This is my first time to travel to the USA so I kept all the things that would remind me of the trip.

Materials Used:
Bazzil gray CS, acid-free fabric flowers, sakura pens, Craft Express travel stickers

About ME:
I am Charissa Gail Bruan but most of my friends call me Chay. I have an almost-3 hyper son and a wife to a very loving and supportive husband. I am a working mom and a scrapping addict. I started scrapbooking in September of 2006. I was introduced to the scrapbooking world when I attended a 2-hr workshop by Ms. Iris Uy at our office building. I am still trying to define my style but recently I got hooked to using flowers and solid colored-CSs in my LOs. Making LOs help me shed off the everyday stress.

Sooo Scary…Let’s Go Again!

Julie says, KAYA!

I can only imagine the thrill of suddenly dropping down 13 floors off a building. I see that in the faces of my husband Jeff and and my son Ian (circled in yellow), as they rode the Hollywood Tower Hotel Ride during the kids’ first visit to Disneyworld, Florida. I didn’t do it. I knew I would wet my pants. Sara Jade and I waited happily outside and ate all the cotton candy. Ian said “It was so scary, can we go again?”

Materials Used:
Ephemera of the “keys to the world”, Players Club cards, hotel brochures, Disneyworld park brochures and maps, “Where Dreams Come True’s First Visit button, and vacation club info. Die Cuts With a View, Disney crappola

Inspiration/Techniques Used:
Becky Higgins’ Sketches, Scrapbook Trends magazine.

The art of pasting cards, brochures, and other objects together – thanks to Pablo Picasso and Braque for inventing the Collage. Also a little bit of Cubist-like, Picasso-style art, using geometric shapes, circles, rectangles, squares.

About Me:
Philippine-born, living in the US for almost 2 decades. Primarily full time mom and homemaker. Volunteer Art and Reading teacher in my kids’ classrooms. When not involved with kids, I work from home as President & CEO of my own Human Resources and Learning Management Intl Consulting firm, and as hands-on partner of www.bookoto.com. Scrapbooking is a hobby my kids, friends, and I share and enjoy very much. Cardmaking, Photography, Suzuki Music (piano and violin), and Interior Design (only of my own home), are now great interests of mine.

my room, MY RULES

Christine says, KAYA!

EPHEMERA - have tons of those, as I am such a certified JUNKIE, LOL! However, the moment I got word about this challenge, only 1 thing immediately came to mind - and it was my DD's documented set of room rules *wink*. She worked on this when she was about to graduate from senior kinder (she's in 2nd grade now), if I remember correctly (I've kept this piece of paper for so long, I am having 'truble' remembering the exact date, haha!)

Journaling:
Inspired by daddy's room rules for Ian, Nikki made her own set and posted it on her wall. I just had to take it coz it was too cute to pass up!

Journaling Add-on (DD's 'rules' for her brother, verbatim)
rules
0. clean up after playing
1. don't calat
2. don't disturb
3. don't touch anything
4. don't fight
5. do not make baby truble
6. you can have fun
7. don't distroy

Materials Used:
CS: Bazzill (ahem, please excuse my base CS - it's been sitting out for far too long, waiting for me to complete this LO, it got creased in the process haha); PP:Creative Imaginations; STAMPS: Technique Tuesday, Paper Salon, Purple Onion; INK PADS: Versa, Colorbox; Dymo label

Techniques Used:
nothing out of the ordinary

About ME:
Married, with 2 kids - DD 7 and DS 4, part-time lecturer on restaurant operations. I have been scrapping on and off since 1984 using non-archival safe products (because I thought the acid-free stuff around that time looked cheesy, haha). I converted to the "other side" in 2006 when I saw gorgeous acid-free papers and other supplies. I've also dabbled in other crafts such as cross-stitching and candle-making. I love Hello Kitty!

Tin says KAYA!

Before anything, sorry sa delay. After the very mind boggling challenges for SM Idol, Kaya is a breather for me :-) I didn't know I could block my layouts so well hehe.

Anyway, no one would think that I'm a Hello Kitty fan. The love affair began as a child and it hasn't stopped since then. My only wish, is to have a Hello Kitty party with a Hello Kitty cake! Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Journaling:
As a child, I had every excuse to use any Hello Kitty item I can get my hands on. It was at Gift Gate where the love affair began.

At 34, things are not so different. Although now I choose more practical things like my --- HK calculator for my bills, HK pens for writing, HK shirts to wear, HK bags for my things, HelloKitty.Com for my email and yes . ..my HK toaster for my toast. The latter was a gift, I swear!

Just can't get enough of this cool Kitty!

Materials:
Paper: Bazzils black, aqua and white, Love Elsie Roxie Quilt and Red felt
Embellies: Scenic Route Chipboard, Making Memories Sweets, Ki Alphabet Soup, American Crafts Playhouse Felt Arrows, AEIOU Studio Iron On Patch
Rubons: Sassafrass Lass Cotton Candy, SEI, Lasting Impressions Scrappy Rubs
Stickers: Love Elsi Roxie Stickers, EK Precious Finds Adhesive Gems
Ephemera: Hello Kitty note pads, tag, prize tag, tin cover and plastic star

Techniques:
I didn't use a lot of techniques really, just plenty of blocking. I used the felt ribbon, rub-on and sticker to create unity and continuity between the pink and white blocks.

About ME:
Scrapping, as I discovered, is a great cure when you're homebound, stuck with a horrible cough that can be mistaken for barking, a cold that can sniff up a ship and when cabin fever is driving you up the wall. I've sanitized my hands while scrapping, coughed away from it and sprayed my layouts with Lysol people, not to worry :-) you don't have to stay 50 feet away from my album in the next EB hehe. Hayaan niyo, ibibilad ko na din sa araw LOL.

Don't let this innocent face fool you, it can launch a hundred expressions, made hearts break, make you laugh, cry and even make you silly. Oh yeah, and Josh is in it too :-)

Valentine

Joy says, KAYA!

This is my first attempt to join the traditional LO for kaya challenge. My previous one was made through digital one. When I heard about ephemera, there is no turning point to back off. I love ephemera, simply because I love to keep and treasure anything that can remind me of something in the past. Memories should be cherished for a lifetime.

About ME: I'm Joyleen Dianne Co Lim, 30 years old, a wife to a VERY supportive hubby, Erwin. I can still recall, when my family goes on vacation, I was the one who will put all the pictures in our magnetic photo album. Used cut-outs from magazines, and brochures and wrappers to decorate every single page. The term Acid free wasn't that known that time. Until 2002, then I got married, I start scrapbooking. My first project was my wedding album. My sister and I helped one other to finish the entire album then I stopped due to low supply. Until one day, someone invited me to join PINOY SCRAPBOOKERS and SCRAPBOOK EXCHANGE, BOOM!!!! I'm so HAPPY to know that FINALLY I can buy some scrap stuffs and start working again. I'm glad to know that there are a lot of scrappers here at Philippines, I never thought that SCRAPBOOKING (expensive hobby) will be the lastest fad of many moms here. My heart was overwhelmed to meet fellow scrappers and learn different kinds of techniques each day. Do visit my website at www.erwinjoy.com and http://joydianne.multiply.com

What Took You So Long?

Marj says, KAYA!

This is my first entry to a challenge. I did not plan on joining but when I was about to do an LO for my older daughter's birth, I remember Donna told me to join and not be scared. I have one or two ephemera I can use for the LO so I did.

What took you so long is an expression of how I almost gave up on having a child. It took seven painful long years of thinking I would never feel a child's embrace. And just like that, she came. Every time I look at her, of how loving and vibrant she is, I think of all those years without her and I realize I could never be without her again. I did not expect to be blessed like this. I have a loving husband and another baby girl who is 4 months old.

Close-up of fabric pouch made from baby's receiving blanket

Inside mini-folder

Journaling Reads:
Francine, I waited for you so long that I almost gave up. You never fail to amaze me since that first time I held you in my arms. A smile from you makes everything your papa and I went through very much worth it.

Materials/Supplies Used:
Bohemia paper(My Mind‘s eye), CS(DCWV), Cricut paper (reds and blacks pad), Cricut machine, Jasmine font cartridge, round metal letters (Making Memories), eyelets (The Paper Studio), mini brads (The Paper Studio), mounting squares, Autumn Leaves clear stamps (Rhonna Farrer), Primas, Swarovski crystals for the flower centers (local hobby store), chipboard (raw), fluid chalk (Colorbox-stack of 6), Lace(LS), purple embroidery floss (DMC)

Ephemera:
- a piece Francine's receiving blanket
- ribbon from her shirt
- hospital bracelet
- ultrasound pics
- tag from going home outfit

Techniques/Process:
Tags are made from raw chipboard then was cut to desired size and shape, then painted with acrylic, sanded then inked. The heart-shaped tag was covered with paper then sanded and inked.

Mini- album holding the "us" pics are made with 2 pieces chipboard then attached with a small piece scored in the middle then painted with black acylic then glued to act as the binder. The top was covered with lace attached with small brads.

The title was made with Cricut using the blackout and regular feature
The four sides of the matted picture were stitched to give it dimension
The fabric pouch was sewn from a piece of the receiving blanket (I think it's better to see it in a LO than being hidden in a closet) which was soaked in coffee to stain it light brown. It holds one of the tags I made with the details of the birth (time, birthweight, height, place, etc.) written in white pen, the hospital bracelet and the tag of the outfit she wore when she went home.

About ME:
Hi! I am marjorie, Marj to most of my friends. A stay-at-home-mom of 2 adorable girls, Francine and Isabella. I got into scrapbooking May 2007 after I saw some of the digital LOs my sister did. I finally took the plunge and been loving it ever since. I am also a self-taught cake decorator but I find it impossible to do baking and decorating with 2 kids clamoring for my attention all the time. Love Notes

Sym says, KAYA!

This layout is composed of letters and notes that my DH gave me when we were still single. I attached the letters to the cardstock without permanently adhering them because some of them also have notes written at the back. I planned the layout such that I can still pull them out and read them whenever I want.

Journaling:
The journaling are the love letters themselves as shown below.

Materials Used:
Daisy D's papers for the background, buttons from Mitch Sy, ribbons from Tutuban Center, other papers from Nina, Rob and Bob paper for the pink and yellow flowers, Prima flower.

Techniques Used:
I used the Basic Grey Notch and Die Tool to create notches that would anchor my notes. Brads also served the same purpose. I did not glue the letters to the base paper so I can pull and read them whenever I feel like it.

About ME:
I'm Symbelly, 30 y/o, wife to supportive hubby Sherwin, and mother to 2 beautiful children, Vien 5 and Will 2. I'm a working mom who loves scrapbooking. It lets me have a world of my own... my own rules, my own taste, just pleasing my own, boss of my own. Yeah! I love my scrapbook friends EBs and mini-EBs. They add color and love to my life. Makes me realize I'm not alone, that I've got lots of friends. Visit me at www.symbelly.blogspot.com.

Name Tags

Sheryl says, KAYA!

It took me awhile to create this layout since this is the first time I will be incorporating Ephemera in my page. For this challenge, I decided to include the name tags I got from the Scrapfest and MLA's Scrapbooking party last year. I thought it's high time I celebrate my being a scrapbooker and this challenge came in timely.

Journaling Reads:
8/18/07- I have finished several albums since I started this wonderful hobby but I realized I have not made a single page celebrating my being a scrapbooker. Now I'm glad I created this page as this makes my passion for this hobby and papers OFFICIAL! And that means there is no turning back.

Materials Used:
CS: Bazzill & BG Stella Ruby London Sunset; PPS: Mod Red Gerbera diecut, Karen Foster Writing Paper; CI Epoxy Stickers; Creative Memories pens; ricrac; and name tags from scrapbooking events

About ME:
Working Mom.
Mama to Lilaa and Maia, wife to my one big love. Rekindled my love affair with Scrapbooking in May 2006 and as much I try to control myself, my scrapper's hoarding instinct take over whenever I set foot in a scrapbooking store.
Nevertheless, I love the freedom of creation and the creative license that scrapbooking brings to my idle time. At the same time, it affords me to record, creatively and delightfully, my family's memories to last more than my lifetime. I also c0-own and co-manage an online bookstore Bookoto.com with a good friend and kababayan Julie Kelly who is also a member of Pinoy Scrapbookers.

Journaling Reads:
I love collecting clothes' tags, I don't know why! I just love them.

San Francisco

Nita says, Kaya!

This is what excites me about Kaya, every month there's always new challenges which pushes me to scrap in ways I would have otherwise not explored. I am compelled to try out new techniques and am most of the times pleased with the outcome. Don't get me wrong though, almost everytime a new challenge is posted, I always feel I may not rise up to the occassion. I am left stumped for days on end, but eventually a spark of inspiration would motivate me to try. Thank you, Nina, for giving me the opportunity to grow a bit more this month.

Hidden Journaling Reads: It was supposed to be a family trip but for Alain and I, it felt like a long-overdue honeymoon. Out of all the places we went to, San Francisco is the one place we held dearest to our heart. We both adore the quaint rows of houses, sloping streets, cable cars, picture windows with a cat perched on it drinking in the sun and its beautiful, cold weather. It felt like we were both transported back in time and we were like the cat drinking in every minute of it. Even now, whenever I close my eyes, I can almost smell the cinnamon and orange-peel potpourri which permeates the hallway of the Cartwright Hotel where we stayed in. We both yearn to come back someday, just the two of us to rekindle our romance with San Francisco and fall in love with each other all over again.

Materials Used: DCWV white core CS; Rusty Pickle Mayflower PPS (Priscilla Mullins; Myles Standish; Capt. William Bradford); Prima flower; Craft Express chipboard alphabet; Tres Jolie Tres Bien play card; MM Acrylic Paint; Staz-On.

Other Materials Used: Railway tickets; paper crimper; cotton lace; brass embelise; silver nameplate; U.S. coins; ribbons.

Hey, whaddayaknow... this time, it ain't a scraplift. Could it be that I am growing into a bolder scrapper? Naahhh, it's just one of those days when everything seems to click and all the embellies matches. I wish I could be as lucky each time. One thing I did notice though, this group is growing into a vibrant community and all you talented ladies are helping to motivate and inspire me to be a better scrapper. Thank you, everybody :D

Me and my Lolo

Au says, Kaya!

I was excited when I heard about this challenge because I had been hoarding ephemera and I am a fan of the vintage style. I thought this is a good time to break these out since I do not use them often enough. However, after seeing Leirs's LO, I thought true ephemera would be something related to my own life and Filipino setting rather than the "imported" ones I had. So I raided my Nanay's old photos and things and found these treasures. But the true treasure for me is this old and only photo in my possession of my Lolo. Being the bunso, all my lolos and lolas were gone by the time I was born except for this one. Let me tell you I was attacked with nostalgia when i saw it and got all misty gazing at it. It was a rush of feeling--just like when I hear an old song I haven't heard for a long time. So i hope my Lolo Sendong was looking over my shoulder as I made this one and i hope he likes it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Journaling:
This is a precious photo to me because my Lolo Rosendo here was the only grandparent I ever met. I was 3 on this pic. He doted on me being the youngest and only girl among his apos. I remember him always at my defense whenever I run to him while being teased by my elder brothers who call me "negra" and "Metring David" (after a comedienne with big feet). We only had a very short time together. I vividly remember staying beside him at his hospital bed during his last days when i was around 4 years old. We lost him to kidney disease.

Material/Techiques used:
K&Co Brenda Walton Maison and Cosmo Cricket papers, old coins and peso bills circa 60s-70s. Peso bills were scanned and printed while coins are the real thing. Buttons, charms, faux jewelry, Simply Scrappy acrylic brackets, Dymo tape labeller. UTEE to dimensionalize the M and E, Gelatins Festival Vintage stamps and metallic embossing powders for the word LOLO, lace, 7gypsies journalling tag, Prima flowers.

Au Lim: I love crafting and, recently, stamping. I only wish I had more time to do them. I admire the old, vintage and shabby styles and am hoarding stuff in this design although I rarely use them. Perhaps this challenge will trigger me to use them more often especially since i have unearthed a treasure trove of old photos my mother keeps. I also like blogging and bloghopping whenever i can steal some time away. Visit me at auscraps.blogspot.com and auwashere.blogspot.com. I'd love to hear from you, too!

do you still REMEMBER these

Donna says, KAYA!

The first thing that came in my mind when I knew about this month's challenge, were the "love letters" my husband and I gave each other waaaayyyyy bacckkkk when (smiles). From candy or chocolate wrappers to tags of pants to perfume sample (like those in magazines where you can sample the smell of the perfume hehehe I don't know what it's called) to just anything.. we write each other love notes :) My friend and barkada who happened to be his sister ("RETO-RETO" days!!), was our "MAIL GIRL" hehe We just bribe her (wink*wink) and voila! Instant mail delivery! lol!! (love you SIL!!)

Anyways, the first idea was to use only one photo and some of our "letters" in my layout. But as I was browsing through the box where I put our "loveletters", I came across some photos I didn't realize were there. I decided then that I had to put those. I want the layout to come out like showing a "timeline" of our journey together. It didn't turn out like the way I had mind but I am still happy of the result :) Thanks for looking!

Journaling:

"It all started in 1991.. we give each other letters and knick-knacks EVERYDAY. If one of us fail to write even a short letter or note, we get ma like the usual "lover's quarrel" (talk about teenage lovers lol!!!). But come to think of it, I'm sure glad we did all those "corny" love letter stuff. I LOVE browsing through them, it reminds me all the things we promised one another. I hope you REMEMBER 'em too :) ~ love, donna"

Materials:

We are memory keepers, Prima flowers, Doodlebug designs/Karen Foster/Xyro silver brads, MM clear gloss, American Crafts Slick writer pen,Tim Holtz DI Frayed Burlap and Fired Brick, ribbons, DMC thread and transparency (from last PS EB used FP stamp c/o Mod Au with stazon black ink). *plastic used to envelope letters- from my Thermoweb foam tapes (is it acid-free???)

Techniques:

Distressing (sanding and inking), stitching, doodling.

I am Donna Espiritu. 30 years old, married. I'm a very simple person and a homebody. Other people find me "suplada" as first impression but I am really shy (yes yes I am!). Well, that's what my old friends tell me I just don't know now :) hehehe

No. 1 Fan

Lee says, Kaya!

When I scrap, my KiDS always ask, "Can I help?" I gave them their own scrapbooking stuff so they can scrap to their hearts' content and I am able to scrap in peace. They are very sweet though, they always give me their finished products "for my scrapbooks." Good Mama that I am (yes, sometimes I am good), I put their offerings in a special box with a mental note that someday, I will indeed scrap them.

That someday is now (or at least it's a start since I have boxes full of these sweet offerings.)

Journaling Reads:
(A conversation between Sarah and I while I am reading my scrapbook magazines and she is peeking over my shoulder):

Sarah: Mama, why are your scrapbooks not in the magazines?
Mama: Why? Do you want our scrapbooks to be in magazines?
Sarah: Yes...except the one where I was crying.
Mama: I don't thing my layouts are good enough.
Sarah: Oh, but they're very nice, Mama. Promise!

Lots of hugs and kisses ensue and my place in scrapbooking history is assured.

Materials Used:
Paper - Daisy D's; Cardstock - unknown; Ribbon - Michelle's; Stickers - Scenic Route; Stamp - Autumn Leaves; Ink - Colorbox; Distress Ink; Puncher - Paper Shapers Corner Adorner; Diecut: Cuttlebug; Pen - Uni Ball Signo white; Adhesive - UHU.

Ephemera:
A note from Sarah where she wrote " I "heart" you Mama. You are a great scrapbook artist." (It's exactly as she gave it to me except that I inked the edges. Nobody told her to write that and there was no particular occasion. I'm just sorry that I failed to note the date.)

Techniques:
I just went with the flow of the colors. I used only one cardstock because the pattern seems sufficient. I scrapped this simply, dwelling more on the sentiment rather than techniques. I really want to remember this conversation we had. It is, after all, an eye-opener and a reminder why we scrap.

About ME:
I'm the better half on a painter/sculptor, and we have three KiDS - Kahlo, Diego and Sarah. The little "I" stands for our family name. LOL. After many years in the rat-race I am now a full-time mom, taking care of them rugrats. I also work part-time in the family atelier. I love to write and take photographs and scrapbooking is the perfect outlet. I started my acid-free (talking about paper here) journey more than a year ago and I am still making many discoveries. I still dream of becoming "published" in scrapbooking but that will come in due time. For now, in my family's eyes, I am already the greatest scrapbooker ever. And I do believe that is what is most important. Do drop by www.pinayscrapper.blogspot.com sometime.

Cargo Pants

Marix says, KAYA!

When I read about the challenge the first emphemera that came to my mind are the clothes tags that I always keep, simply because they are sturdy and can be used like a chipboard with a little dressing up. But this time I used them as a part of my LO, I wanted to make an artsy collage, but this is how it turned out. I looks weird but my my friend says it's meant to look weird, almost everything here is ephemera (read:not acid free).

Journaling:
Eversince cargo style was introduced as a fashion trend I immediately shifted from jeans to cargo pants. They are baggy which gives me comfort and they have lotsa lotsa pockets which is tops for me coz I hate carrying bags when dressed casually or ruggedly. Esprit and Fox are top of the line for me because of their good quality and fashionable designs, they don't come cheap but when they are on sale, I don't lose a chance to grab a pair.

Materials used:
Making Memories cs & acrylic paints; 7gypsies pp; papemelroti die cut letters

Ephemera:
wire, twill, lace, ribbon, snaps, clothes tags, scented leaves, button, soda can tab

Technique Used:
Painting, distressing, inking
About ME:
Hi! I'm Marix, single and currently working as a Systems Analyst in Singapore. I've been scrapbooking since highschool but never knew such a term ever existed. Back then I've been using magazines to cut out titles and images and used the magnetic albums which sadly are all not acid free. I only discovered the term scrapbooking and acid free in 2004 and have been doing it since then. It was on and off until I became addicted to it last year. I scraplift, use sketches and find inspiration through advertisements. I'm a traditional scrapper and haven't tried digital yet. I consider myself as a free style scrapper who loves embellishments and texture in a layout. You can view my other layouts at http://scrappalific.blogspot.com/.

Go Ateneo!

CH says, KAYA!

I remember writing such heartfelt journaling about this game. Seeing those grown men crying made me cry, too. I'm not a die hard Ateneo basketball fan, but I have to admit I have a soft spot for the team because Chris, a good friend of mine is part of it. That, and I can't help but ooze with school pride every time I watch a game. Anyway, I lost the sheet of paper where I wrote my journaling a year ago...so until I can remember what I wrote, I'll leave it blank first. Maybe I'll rewrite it after another Ateneo game. Might ruin it kasi kung pinilit ko.

Journaling:
To be journalled, if that makes sense. But I posted a part of our alma mater song --

Through the joys and tears
through the laughing years
We sing our battle song
Win or Lose
It's the school we choose
This is the place where we belong

Ephemera:
UAAP ticket; Blue Eagle logo is cut from a paperbag from American Eagle Outfitters

Materials Used:
Cardstock - DCWV
Patterned paper - 7Gypsies, Chatterbox, Scenic Route
Transparency - Hambly
Letter/#1 stickers - American Crafts
Stamp - 7Gypsies
Tab - Autumn Leaves
Font - P22 Garamouche
Tab punch - McGill
Others - "One Big Fight" printed out from the computer, date stamp, photo taken from the January 2007 issue of the Loyola Schools Bulletin (Photo by Alyson Yap)

Technique:
I was supposed to pass this layout for the stamp challenge but I wasn't able to create it in time. Good thing that this challenge came along though! Perfect for the theme. Hehe! :) I remember making this page and thought that I needed a Blue Eagle logo to represent our basketball team.. then out of the corner of my eye I saw a paper bag and I ended up cutting it up! It was also a fun coincidence that the old UAAP ticket (ADMU-UST, Oct.2, 2006) was just sitting on my dresser because I was too lazy to fix the clutter up. Instant ephemera and a remembrance of that championship game (which we lost!).

I guess the photo counts as ephemera too, since it was cut out of a school publication. Such a great picture that captured what I was feeling that day.

The "One Big Fight" letters were printed out from the computer -- I cheated! I printed out Heidi Swapp stickers. As soon as I find the real ones, I'll replace them. I thought they were perfect for the layout but didn't have any.. this was my way to improvise.

About ME:
CH. Fresh grad who finally has time to scrap (or so she thinks). I love chipboard and I use it on almost all my layouts! I have a tendency to buy alphabets (stickers, chipboard, foam, stamps, whatnot). I also super love stamps. I love scrapbooking mainly because it's a mixture of all the things I love the most -- photography, paper and history. Sometimes I see layouts in my head, but usually a great photo or a funny memory inspires me to scrap. My scrap table is STILL my bedroom floor, but I'm trying to find ways to reorganize my space. Finally put up a scrapbooking blog -- http://scrapb0oker.livejournal.com. Thanks for looking!
