100 Years

Timi says, KAYA!

It's UP Los Banos centennial year! I have spent 21 years of my life in this institution as a student and a teacher. Whenever I see the UPLB Centennial logo (it's located near UP Gate, the main entrance to the UPLB campus), there's this small voice telling that I should have my photo taken with the logo as background. This logo was installed there last year but it was only last June when I got the chance to pose for some photos. Thanks to Issa who took my photos.

Here's my take:

Materials used:Cosmo Cricket pp's, journaling tags and die cuts, American Crafts Thickers, Creative Imagination and 7 Gypsies sticker, MM tiny alphas, tree chipboard, clear buttons, stamped transparency, ribbon and trim, flower and leaf

Techniques used: paper tearing, stamping and distressing

Journaling: University of the Philippines Los Banos is celebrating its centennial year this 2009. Of these 100 years, I spent 21 years of my life in this institution, as an undergraduate (1988-1992) and graduate student (1994-2001) and as an employee (1993-present). This year a lucky one for me. I co-authored a book on organic rice production and got promoted from Asst Prof 4 to Asst Prof 7. I'm so thankful!

Gifts

Timi says, KAYA!

My entry for this month's challenge is entitled GIFTS (only my second time in Kaya!). It showcases the gifts I received from the LB Scrapaholics during the celebration of my 38th Birthday last November 2008 at Helga's place. It has been our tradition to give each other gifts and have our photos taken during birthday celebrations.

Closer look...

Materials used:
Bazzill cardstock, different ribbons and trims, piece of cloth used as matting for the photo, felt embellies (flowers, bookplate), Bazill Just the Edge, Daisy D's and Cloud 9 cardstock stickers, MM alpha stickers, buttons, blings, brads, Inque Boutique stamp, Versafine ink, pen

Journaling:
These are the gifts I received when I celebrated my 38th Birthday with the LB Scrapaholics. It's always fun to receive all these gifts from friends! Nov. 2008, Helga's placed

About ME:
Married to Danny for 14 years and blessed with two wonderful kids, Jigs (14) and Dannah (12). A College Professor by profession, I have been teaching Crop Science at UP Los Banos College of Agriculture for 16 years now. I'm a member of the LB Scrapaholics since 2005. It was in the year 2000 when I completed my very first scrapbook. It was a gift to my husband in celebration of his 30th Birthday, our 11th Valentine's Day together and our 5th Wedding Anniversary. My next project was my son's preschool years completed in 2002. I'm fond of joining challenges because it helps me improve my craft. Challenges allow me to experiment and create designs I never thought I am capable of doing. I intend to continue with this hobby-turned-into a passion (or maybe obsession) even after my retirement years.

Dannah @ 10

Timi says, KAYA!

Journaling Reads (hidden tag under title):

Dearest Dannah,

How fast time flies! I can still remember the day you were born, 10 years ago. You were a very special baby girl being born prematurely (35 weeks). You stayed in the incubator for 12 days due to infection. Then there was this problem in your digestive system. Thank God you were not operated on. That would have given me so much pain.

Look at you today at 10…who would say that you had encountered those difficulties when you were still a baby? You grew up to be a smart, healthy, talented, generous and kind-hearted girl! Carry on with these traits. For sure these will help you achieve your goals in life. A reminder though, do not be too generous as you may be taken advantage of by not so good people around. I can see that you have a tendency to give everything you have even if it means nothing is left for you. A word of advice… keep a little something for yourself. It always pays when you do some things in moderation. It will bring me much pain when I see you get hurt.

Always remember that I love you so much. Big girl as you are today, I will always remember you as my sweet little baby, a survivor till the end.

Love,
