This is disturbing.

DePaul sends thirty security officers to block moderate conservative intellectual Ben Shapiro from addressing students at DePaul University.

Marxists, Communists, and outright revolutionaries can give talks on campuses.

If any of those were prevented from speaking we would hear about censorship and violation of the First Amendment.

But block a moderate conservative and we hear crickets.

I'm old enough to remember being taught that we had to protect the rights of even the most loathsome lest we find our own rights in jeopardy.

Apparently, moderate conservativism is too loathsome for that rule to apply to.

This is ridiculous.

The event that likely precipitated the policy change was one incendiary tweet in the wake of yet another mass shooting. David W. Guth, a tenured journalism professor at University of Kansas, unleashed a 140-character rant that insisted the “blood [was] on the hands of the #NRA.” Opinionated, but not necessarily objectionable, but then he went on: “Next time, let it be YOUR sons and daughters.” Oof. After a highly predictable and not wholly undeserved reaction, Guth was temporarily suspended.

So, Guth is an unhinged leftist....so what?

He's an unhinged leftist who has a right to say what the hell he wants.

I'd rather have him saying it out loud, where we can play "spot the idiot," than have him playing the indoctrination game on students where no one can see it.
