This could be huge - Obama's reverse "wedge strategy" puts 18% of his core voting base on the fence.

Because of the Gay Marriage Issue, Black Pastors aim to strip Obama of 25% of the Black vote:

We've already reported the Zogby poll finding that 18% of African Americans remain undecided about supporting President Obama. A new group aims to increase that to at least 25%:

Unhappy with President Barack Obama‘s support of same-sex marriage, a group of African-American faith leaders have announced a campaign aimed at stripping 25 percent of the black vote that went to Obama in 2008 (95 percent).

The newly formed nonprofit group, God Said, will begin targeting voters in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Florida with television and radio advertising, as well as a grassroots campaign to encourage people to consider the gospel when they enter the voting booth.

“The black community is among the most religious in America and we are offended that President Obama has announced his support of same-sex marriage, that the NAACP has blindly supported the secular views of the Democratic Party, and that their national platform plainly supports same-sex marriage,” said Apostle Claver Kamau-Imani ofRagingElephants.org, and a God Said founder, in a statement. “I am confident that this message will be well received and acted upon on Election Day.”

The group currently has 22 advisory board members and plans to spend an estimated $1 million on the campaign, a spokesperson told TheDC, adding that its message has support among other faith leaders and congregants, including the Coalition of African-American Pastors (CAAP), which has vociferously protested against Obama’s same-sex marriage stance. And here is the story on the Zogby poll:

A new Zogby poll found 18% of African Americans are undecided about who they will support in November.

Ramifications of the President's marriage flip-flop? The Charlotte Post looks at the question:

When President Obama publicly stated his personal approval of same-sex marriage, the black church went into a state of controversy.

How can you be a Christian and support homosexuality? How does a Christian support a president who believes in same-sex marriage? Where does the black church go from here with their support of the president?

These and a myriad of other questions proliferated from the hearts of clergy and faith leaders across the country. What do they tell their congregations?

One unfavorable response has sparked a movement that is getting the attention of congressional members. Some pastors are instructing their members to stay at home and not vote at all, rather than vote against Obama.

The recent Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference dedicated a roundtable discussion on the black church and same sex marriage.

Here is what Zogby has to say:

African Americans

Zogby said his latest figures from this morning, which may just be an anomaly, show that 15 percent of African American voters are undecided.

"If that number holds, that's real problems for Obama," he said. That is despite the president holding a 79-to-6 percent advantage in the African American vote, he said

I'm betting anomaly, but if it puts the Black population "in play," it might be the best thing that ever happened for them and the country.
