A Socialist Sanders-supporter shooting at Republican Congressmen, and nearly killing one?

No problem and forgotten within two months.

Why?

Because Republicans are Nazis and Nazis don't deserve civil rights.

//In a recent column for The Guardian, former Democratic senator for Wisconsin Russ Feingold clarified what all this controversy about white supremacists and Confederate statues is really all about: Republicans are Nazis.

“The lesson from Charlottesville is not how dangerous the neo-Nazis are,” he writes. “It is the unmasking of the Republican party leadership. In the wake of last weekend’s horror and tragedy, let us finally, finally rip off the veneer that Trump’s affinity for white supremacy is distinct from the Republican agenda of voter suppression, renewed mass incarceration and the expulsion of immigrants.”//

This statement is from a leading Democrat.

Undoubtedly, some can sort through the files to find something comparable said by a Republican about Democrats, but the speaker will be undoubtedly a fringe figure. Feingold is not fringe.

To be clear, I don't think that this is about some special virtue that Republicans have.  To the contrary it reflects the fact that Republicans are punished for this kind of idiocy while Democrats are ignored.

The problem is that the media is not doing a good job of applying equal standards to all sides.
