//In an interview with National Public Radio, former President Jimmy Carter said that Catholic teaching on women’s ordination has led to the abuse of women throughout the world.
“The fact that the Catholic Church, for instance, prohibits women from serving as priests or even deacons gives a kind of a permission to male people all over the world, that well, if God thinks that women are inferior, I’ll treat them as inferiors,” said Carter. “If she’s my wife, I can abuse her with impunity, or if I'm an employer, I can pay my female employees less salary.//
Jimmy Carter is making me prouder about the fact that my first presidential election vote was against him.

And of course why would he(a protestant) have bothered to do any study which would make him see it any differently? Anybody knows that Islam treats women as inferior as do many other cultures- THIS seeing women as less and as sex objects is WORLDWIDE and did not start with Catholics- and only certain persons are allowed at the wailing wall. But So What?Does he want the world to become Pagan to set this right or what? We Catholics are not a political institution where we have to explain our ways and "lead" the world, either. We are pro life toward all human beings. One does not need to blame any religion. The answer to the why's of human behavior is as easy as the natural selfisness of the human being. Why does the Church even come up in the discussion. He is small minded to speak this way. Maybe he should read a book.
I enjoyed reading the commments, one of which reminded me that freemasons exclude women with no theological excuses or reasoning.
